***September 2016 Mummies - the last lap***

Naomi he's gorgeous, glad you're home what a relief. I'm two weeks post section and feel pretty much normal again, the pain is awful to start with but gets better quickly. Are you getting help with feeding from anyone? If he latches shallow get him straight off and try again he will get it in the end. Is he tongue tied? Sometimes that's a reason for shallow latch. Hope you make it through tonight okay.

Polly Jane was born at about 8pm (time tbc) on 17th Sept via emergency c section, 9lb 2oz!! It was very dramatic and scary in the end and I've not yet met her
After pooing in the womb, I somehow got an infection, high temp but shivering, (not sure if it's connected) got to 8cm on the drip but they said her heartbeat was high so didn't want to risk anything. Luckily they rushed me to theatre, she swallowed some meconium so was having trouble breathing but Drs all say she is fine. OH has met her, she's going to be in an incubator for a few days and hopefully I'll be going tomorrow morning to meet my gorgeous girl.
Nurse says she's very pink so problem can't be too big. We are both staying in for 2-3 Days at least. I feel fine currently after the section, just absolutely odesperate to see her!!
Was utterly convinced we had a boy!!! xx

Omg Ruby SO glad she's here safe and sound and I am happy to hear you are also ok! Oh gosh there must be some way for them to help you meet her you must be dying! A sweet daughter, how wonderful. I love her name too!

RRS huge congratulations but gosh scary times for you hun, glad all us ok now and really hope you get to meet her soon as can only imagine how desperate you must be. Hopefully they'll take you first thing in the morning if they haven't already.

Caroline yep we've been told the same re feeding and daylight so been taking him for walks and he feeds loads anyway but it doesn't seem to have brought hus levels down yet. Think my milk is finally coming in so hopefully that will help.

I finally had enough during the bedtime cluster feed this eve and topped him up with a little formula. He then slept for three and a half hours and I feel so much better for it. It's given my nips a bit of a break and I'm currently sat giving him a BF again and it's hurting a lot less than it was. He doesn't have tongue tie but I think he's just a lazy sucker and doesn't keep enough of the boob in his mouth so think I need to interupt his feeds more to reattach him.
Xxx

Congrats RRS sorry it wasn't a nice experience, when she is in your arms it will all be worth it I'm sure :)

Naomi I'm glad your milk is coming through now and a tad of formula got you a rest, I have never breastfed but have been told how painful nipples can get, so in glad they are getting a little better x

I think I'd blocked out the nipple pain from last time!! It gets to the point where they are both bleeding... yuck! Once they've hardened more though breastfeeding is really easy so I just want to get to that point again!! Xxx

Awww Naomi he is so gorgeous:love: hope he settles into bf quickly for you xx
Congrats Ruby!! Hope you met your princess soon, looking forward to seeing a pic xx
Sansk hope you're ok and get your wee bundle today xx

Ethan went down to 8lb 13oz and then 8lb 8oz since birth. He's breastfeeding so building up is slow but he was feeding every 45 mins yesterday so hoping we have a growth spurt. The three really hot days we had last week along with me being rather down with lack of appetite probably didn't help. HV very happy with him generally though. Good tone, colour and alertness etc so she'll come and weigh him again next week.

Feeling fair bit better now though and eating a lot more.

Lots of big, c section boys this month huh?

Lxx

Aww he will get there lander,
And Naomi I'm sure it won't take too long until they harden up x

I've met her and she's just beautiful. And long, 64cm! I can't hold her as she's going to be wired up sedated in the incubator for a few days at least, when she first went down she was wriggling about and trying to pull wires out apparently hence the sedation. It's very hard to see, my OH says he doesn't like to see her like that which I can understand but keeping up the visits even though I cry each time! x

Oh Ruby that must be excruciating- I hope you get to hold your sweet girl soon! And bring her home! How are you feeling?

Bit of a wreck today to be honest, one dr had no bedside manner and scared us but the nurses with her daily say she is fine. Managed to persuade OH to go home as he's shattered and worried poor thing, hate seeing him in this way. Apart from that I feel fine physically.

Rrs congratulations, sorry it didn't go quite to plan but at least you are both being taken care of and in the right place. I'm excited to see a photo when things have settled.

So who is next in line for their baby? I'm desperately hoping I don't go overdue its already causing problems with my mum!!

I think doctors see so much that they forget so much of it all is so new to us and very daunting. Focus on the positives and hopefully it won't be long and this will all be a distant memory and you get to cuddle your little one at home :)

Oh no :( sending virtual hugs your way!!! I couldn't imagine what you are going through.
Hope you are feeling a little better now you have seen her, I also hope you both have a speedy recovery x

Thank yoy everyone. OH wouldn't come see her last night, think he was really scared by what the Dr said. She's still sedated and hooked up but as soon as my mom and I saw her we both said she looks different/better. The nurse was pleased with her progress during the day.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok, Sansk any news? I hope I've not Missed an update?! X

I'm glad she's looking better, hope you have her back with you soon x

Both feeling a lot better today, I expressed some milk for her and nurses are pleased with her progress and hope she will be awake tomorrow! Will wait until her wires are out before I post a photo of her x

Does that mean if she is awake tomorrow she will come to the ward with you? X

Oh gosh. RRS, hope she's out and well soon. You poor things. Sure you'll have her home in no time.
So, anyone remember what sleep, showers, eating a whole dinner with two hands/knife and fork, feeling refreshed feels like?! Breast feeding 'going well' here.
Please tell me I am not the only one who just has a baby attached to her 24/7?! He feeds, goes to sleep on me, I try to put him down, he wakes up, then we repeat! Worried he's not getting what he needs if he's constantly feeding or us this just my naivety as a first timer?! Think he's a little minx as well. He likes to keep on me, not in Snuzpod and knows I won't let him cry (obviously). He's a real monkey!
Again, please say I am not alone?!
