***September 2016 Mummies - the last lap***

Thanks Caroline. I've stayed sat down minus one quick trip to the loo. Wait is nearly over now. Fifteen more minutes and counting!!

Maybe try some gaviscon and see if that eases it? I had it in the last pregnancy and was told to have a small plain muffin and some milk before bed to ease it xx

I bet your glad it's done now :), I will try gaviscon but I already have milk before bed for an extra dose of calcium lol x

Well no phone call as yet. Can barely think of anything else today!!

How is everyone else doing? I'm in Dorset visiting family this weekend and signal is usually pants down there so may not be on her much tomorrow xx

I spoke too soon. Just had the call :-( feeling really upset with myself. Not seeing anyone about it til next Wednesday pm which seems like a long time to wait. xx

Slightly more sleep last night. Looking forward to my weekend!! And add it's now July I can say I finish work at the end of the month, four weeks today!!

Oh pants! Can't believe that's the three of us got it!
I'm not seeing anyone until Monday Naomi, just do what you can to cut down on sugary foods and don't eat too many carbs as these are the foods you'll have to make changes with.
What were your levels did they say? My fasting level was fine at 4.2 but the two hour level was 11.3 and it should have came back down to normal range of between 4 - 7.
I've been told that they will try diet control first, if no success then onto metformin tablets and if still no success then onto insulin. I'm hoping because it wasn't too high that diet control will be fine, just not looking forward to having to prick myself umpteen times a day to check my sugars :-(

Naomi and Sansk ...... do you want a separate gestational diabetes thread where we can chat and support each other through it or are you happy to do it all in here?

Separate thread might be good so we don't start boring those who don't have it.
I'm going to cut out cakes and chocolate and sweets as a start and try to switch to wholegrain carbs as much as possible. Wasn't given any information over the phone other than the fact that I had it and needed to go back in next Wednesday.
Going to miss fizzy drinks as like to have one sometimes in the eve while simon has a beer. I'm usually pretty good anyway during the day just drinking water.
How is it they get you to test your sugar levels when you're at home?
Have spent most of the afternoon crying so far but going to try and get my shit together now! Xxx

Aww don't cry Naomi, it's not that bad, we'll all manage it fine. Please don't worry xx
You'll be given a glucose monitor and I imagine they'll get us to test first thing in the morning then before and after each meal. They'll give us levels that they want us to aim for and we just have to learn what foods suit us and what pushes our sugars up.
Can see me eating a lot of omelettes lol I'll get a thread started for us xx

Thanks Karen. Although I'm sad you girls have it too its nice to have company with it!! We can suggest meal ideas perhaps.
Xxx

Aww one of my friends had it and she had to diet control it, just remember ladies it's only temporary and doesn't mean you will have huge babies as my friend had a 6lb 8oz baby x

Thanks Caroline. I'm feeling a bit less negative this evening. Had a smaller portion than normal for my meal and no dessert. Going to start doing little walks after meals from Sunday night once I'm home from Dorset.

How is everyone else doing generally? Xxx

Aww, it's got to be tough when you have a sweet tooth, I have a very low appetite at the moment so I'm not struggling with sweet foods as they just don't fit in.

I'm struggling with sleeping and getting comfortable and my back constantly aches but I'm full term sized now if not more so it's no shock.

I'm 30 weeks on Tuesday where has the time gone?

Liam wasn't well yesterday so I'm hoping he's perked up a bit today, I feel helpless when you can't do anything to help :( x

Hope your wee fella is feeling better today Mrs B.
Will you be induced early with twins or left to go yourself?

He still isn't quite right but not poorly enough for the Drs. Just lots of snuggles today :)

They haven't decided yet, I know for definite I won't go past 40weeks, but it depends on their sizes and positions, my first growth scan at 28 weeks, twin 1 was breech and twin 2 was lying across. My next scan is at 32 weeks which will probably show more info on how it will go. But if they haven't sorted themselves out then it will be a section ... I assume they will give me a date for induction maybe so I don't go past a certain date but I genuinely don't have a clue I will find out in 2 weeks when I speak to the consultant.

I don't know about you but I have become obsessed with making sure I have everything ready, driving the poor husband insane lol. Packed my hospital bag, washing all baby clothes etc :)

How you feeling? How long left in work? X

Poor wee mite, a quiet day of snuggles sounds good xx
A couple of my friends have had twins and one was induced at 37 weeks, the other had section at 34 weeks as she developed cholestasis, all the babies are over a year old now and thriving and are so gorgeous
I've not packed anything, started buying the things I'll need but I'll pack nearer the time as I'm having an elective section so will know when I'm going in. Not washed anything yet, waiting for a good spell of weather to get it out on the line if possible.
I finished work last Friday, got 6 weeks annual leave then mat leave starts at 36 weeks. I was so ready for it and I'm feeling much better for it, glad to see the back of the 4.30am rise in the mornings!
Not long for you to stop now?

I finished on Tuesday and I was ready for it, using annual leave for all of July and mat leave starts 1st August when I'm 34 weeks.
Have you got a date for your section then? X

That's good you're finished, hope you're feeling the benefit :)
Not got a date yet, it was a junior doc I saw on Thursday so she didn't really say much at all and the consultant wasn't happy she didn't see me so has marked on my notes that I've just to see her so will discuss it with her next time, I'm being seen and scanned fortnightly xx

Fort nightly is very regular, how come? I'm being scanned every 4 weeks x
