***** October 2015 Mummies ******

Hi popped in for a look in tri 3! So at how many weeks are people going on maternity leave? I will be leaving work at 37 weeks I think (using mixture of AL & maternity). On hols at moment, just over to visit my folks in Dublin for a week, then just two months left in work before maternity leave begins! Definitely starting to feel lots more real now that bump is growing quite big & baby is kicking lots. Bit worried how my 18 month old daughter will adapt to the new baby, but there's no turning back now lol

Shona, my maternity leave starts just before I turn 38 weeks (given I last that long!)

Enjoy your holiday & time spent with the parents! I'm sure your daughter will be delighted with the little doll she is getting :)

Hello 3rd Tri!! Holy shitballs!! We're in the 3rd trimester!! Arrggg xx

Just over a week to go for me - keep my seat warm! Sneaking in here anyways - one leg in both camps at the moment so I don't have too much reading back to do when I move over :P

Well, Tri 3 started off rubbish for me!!!! I've not slept properly since Sunday. I am waking up and my back i sore and my arm is numb from sleeping on my left side... I am so tempted to turn onto my right side or back but I know I'm not supposed to as sleeping on left side is more beneficial for the baby

I never bothered too much about the sleeping on my left side thing. I'll sleep however I feel comfortable. I wouldn't worry too much. Nobody told me about this in my last pregnancy, and he turned out just fine ;) I sleep on my right side, my left side, even my BACK sometimes - and there are no signs of it affecting this baby either - she's very active and growing perfectly.

Thanks, Petchy. I know I probably go to far with this...
Apparently it matters more as baby grows bigger. I have recently read a paper on the subject from NHS study where they were linking the risk of stillbirth based on sleeping position. And sleeping on your back is a definite no, no! Sleeping on right side isn't too bad but being the freak that I am - I don't want to risk it! So I will be sleep-deprived for the next 90 days or so :oooo:

Tee hee, to stop me from sleeping in all sorts of positions during the night, someone would have to strap me in! :P I have NO control over what position I am in when I sleep. I guess it's worse if you sleep on your back all night, but as long as you move during the night I doubt there is much risk to the odd half hour spent on your back to be honest. I say it's more beneficial to both baby and you that you get some decent quality sleep - be it on your left or your right side :)

i really hope you are right as I feel I will eventually give up and sleep on my right side too! :)

Thank you x But I don't know if I can trust random websites like these...
Besides, that's what one of them says:
''So why is the left side so important? Because down the right side of your spine is a large blood vessel, the inferior vena cava. The inferior vena cava serves to carry blood from your lower body and back to your heart. In theory, the weight of your baby and uterus could put pressure on the vena cava, limiting the blood flow to your body.''

I think I will try to train myself to sleep on left side only. Practice makes perfect ;)

Have you tried using one of those big pregnancy pillows, it gives back support to stop you rolling onto your back & part of it goes under bump to support it & bit between your legs to stop any associated pelvic pain. It's made sleeping on my left side much easier, though to be honest I do alternate sides, but try to stick mainly to left side.

Been feeling so tired last few days, took by BP & was only 90/60, it's gone up to 105/65, so feeling a bit better but my heart rate is 99 beats per min resting. I'm visiting my folks at moment so my dad (who is retired) has been getting up with my little girl around 7am ( she wakes every day at 6am) so I can go back to bed, bless him. She is napping at the moment & so is my dad! But really feel tiredness has set in again just in last few days! How is everyone else feeling?

Karolina I'm the same as Petchy, I sleep mainly on my right hand side & wake up on my back ... I just can't seem to stick to left hand side only lol xx

Happy tri 3 shelly. Glad to be here, but so freaking tired. Jess hasn't let me have more than 4-5 broken hours per night for the last 10 days and she's still got horrible cough so no end in sight yet.

Karolina I worried about the sleep position thing with Jess, now I couldn't give a monkeys how I sleep, just pass out in random positions. Woke up at 4am this morning on my front which doesn't even seem possible!!!

Btw what is a rutabaga? My ticker is definitely going the alternative fruit route now...

Haha! Welcome to Tri3 bump buddy! Was wondering when you would appear :)

I was wondering the same with the fruit ... dont think my local Tesco sells those hehe xx

Yes, I probably worry too much about the sleeping positions... Can't help it! Although I suppose a few more sleepless nights may push me towards not carrying so much

Welcome to Tri 3, Ladies!!!

Rutabaga is a type of turnip :)
