**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

Awww what cuties in their highchairs!

Sazz I totally don't know what to do about contraception either! I went on to the mini pill since I'm BFing and it made me bleed so often. I didn't see the point in having contraception that was making me bleed so often that I couldn't have sex in the first place! I had the combined pill before but that made me feel rubbish, and there are various reasons against getting the impant etc.! We're just using condoms at the moment but I really don't know what to do about it when I stop BFing! I really don't fancy the coil!

Wilson that card is so cute! I really want to do hand/foot printing with Aela before she gets too much bigger!

Aela was a bit rubbish again last night. She went 3 hours, 2 hours, 2 hours, then I couldn't for the life of me get her back to sleep so after 2 hours of being awake I pulled her into bed and she went to sleep. She has a dummy but once she wakes that seems to be her and she won't go back down without boob. I dunno if it's just a comfort thing, because she does actually take some milk, but quite often it's not that much. I'm wondering now if she's too hot and therefore thirsty, so I have turned the heating down in our room to try that. We never used to have a thermostat on any of our rads until they were all replaced recently so we're still trying to work out what temps to set them at!

xx

Hi my lovely, i have the exact same issue with arthur, do u dream feed? I managed a 4hr stretch last night :) but then was up every 2hrs after that plus hes got cold :(

However i put him on his side, swaddled him, put a teddy behind his back and a rolled up blanket on his tummy to stop him rolling and he slept the solid 4 hrs no stirring :) he just seems to wake himself to much on his back, so im going to try it tonight again. Xx

Thanks Wilson.

I don't dream feed, I tried quite early on and couldn't stir her enough to take any milk! Maybe I will try again...

I also tried putting her on her side, which seemed to work for a couple of days but then she went back to waking up loads. May try again though as that was a good few weeks ago.

Last night was even worse. She went down at 7 and was up at 8 and 9 and 10 and then I just gave up looking at the clock! I'm wondering now if it's actually her gums...she has shown a fair few signs of teething and a couple of times she was just screaming in the night so we tried her with teething powder and it calmed her for a wee while...

Tonight she didn't go down until 8, but she is still just about asleep although I've heard lots of stirring and had the lullabys on several times.

OH said if I can express enough milk he will take her for a whole night...I don't think he will though! He sleeps through her waking her several times in the night, and it's only when she's really awake and I'm huffing and puffing that he wakes up!xx

Missyeovil I hope you get some rest and your oh does get up. Mine tries but never wakes up till T is really screaming.

L_a I hope j has a good night and his jabs don't cause him any hassle.poor lad.

Mrsw glad m enjoyed the swimming. It's really unnerving when you first let go of them on their underwater swims. We're on a break from swimming as its Easter hols.

Today started off well but these stupid stomach cramps are making it hard to function even on strong prescription pain killers it's just not touching the pain. Felt so sorry and such a bad mummy when T was on the floor complaining of a dirty bum and I had to leave him there for five until the pain passed enough for me to sort him out. Poor soul. Think I might get the coil out and go back to comdoms. Bless my oh he said after our next one he'll get a vasectomy as he knows how hard it is for us to find any contraceptive that works without issues. But that's a few years away.

T made me smile though he loves chewing his toes and is soo close to rolling over. He also watched us eating dinner as he munched Sophie. Every time I chewed a mouthful he'd watch and then copy the chewing action. By the end of dinner he was shouting at us though.

May have to try a little petite filou with t. Xx

If you had the same problem, you might find the biological nurturing position helps, because it uses gravity and really gets the baby to get their face into the breast xxx

Ah the biological is where mum is reclining yes? Will try that tomorrow, I wish a midwife had told me as my boobs are MASSIVE and I felt like I was smothering her, also it was difficult to get her to the nipple as there was a lot of movement due to them being so big (think round my knees LOL). Have to wait for her to wake up first though ha ha xx

Missyeovil me and my OH take it in turns, I literally kick him out if bed if he doesn't wake up lol! Xx

Hi l_a we have booked water babies :) it was !135 for 10 lessons, so its our easter pressie to arthur :)

Ive just sobbed and sobbed at OBEM i am now going to go upstairs snd hold arthur so tight xx

Hi sally, have u tried feeding on yr side laying down?? It was the worst pain ever the first few days of latching but it does stop, hope u and yr OH are sorted, i did txt you

Missyeovil have you got a sleeping bag? That also helps, or proping something under the matress to give a little tilt Xx

Sazz - my OH asked the doctor for a vasectomy before I ever met him! Thank god they wouldn't let him have one! I think he would quite happily get one when we were done with babies but I'm not sure I would want him to get one as I'm I wouldn't be 100% I was done...? I'd be gutted if I wanted another and couldn't have one.xx

That's right Sally, you reclining and LO lying up your body. It's supposed to be the most natural position for babies to find their own latch. I found it by far the best for latching J, but I couldn't sit reclined comfortably with my coccyx injury (still have trouble with this) so in the end it was just too difficult. When we first tried the BN position with the help of the NCT BF advisors, J was about 10 days old and I had been helping him to latch by positioning him and the breast in side lying, or the cross body hold. The BF advisor told me to just lay him on my chest and he would just find the breast and he did! He bobbed and shuffled until he got in the right position. It was amazing. It used to make me laugh how he would bob his head against me to find it. I don't know if a baby would do that after this long of not latching, but it's worth trying the position. But I still used the side lying position that Wilson suggests in the night because its more relaxed in bed.

I miss BF, can you tell?!

That's great Wilson, make sure you get some piccies of Arthur swimming!

Missyeovil - you never know, your OH might be different when he knows he's in charge. I normally do the night feeding and my DH gets up first thing with J when he wakes. I often wake in the morning and didn't even know they've got up, but in the night DH seems to barely stir when J wakes for a feed.

Missyeovil I'd be gutted if we wanted another after the next one but this week my oh was 'joking' about having three. I think he's caught the baby bug but won't admit it. Lol. X

Morning ladies,

Hope everyone is well? Any exciting plans for this weekend?

James has been so unsettled the past few nights I feel like I've not had any sleep (I must have of course). OH doesn't hear him and accused me of exaggerating when I said I up every 10 minutes pacifying him. Crib is right next to the bed but that isn't the point really?

I am not sure if our room is too cold (the gro-egg says it is perfect temp BUT I find it chilly and sleep with a thin cardi on ) I really don't want to put the heating on though.

SIL is back from Ireland this weekend and she hasn't seen James for over a month, she'll be so surprised.

I am going to start washing some of our 6-9 month baby-grows today as James is almost too long for 3-6 months. He still fits fine into all his tops and trousers and footless baby-grows!

We all had dinner at the table together last night, James loved it! So we're going to make it a regular thing.

Plan today is to go out for supplies. We don't do egg's but I may make some cupcakes?? We'll see as I love my own cupcakes and will devour them over the weekend.

It is quite bright so I am going to take the scenic route and have a niece long walk.

xxxxxx

Sazz im the exact same lol, its gone from just arthur to wanting 3 lol.

Im not going back on the pill, so if it happens it happens lol

Oh and good morning beauts :) im bloody knackerd. Arthurs made up of a rattling cold and cant breath very well, so hes cried alot :( xx

Aww poor Arthur. Sending snuggles for him and hope he feels better soon  I'm just waiting for Js first cold. I've had two since he was born, so I have all the kit on standby but nothing yet.

That sounds dreadful Nat! I don't know how you manage on so little sleep. I was a complete wreck when I wasn't getting enough - I felt so bad I thought I had PND. Is it just in the early morning like before (I mean that 3am to 6am chunk) or all night now? Hope you manage to get a nap in today.

J didn't have a feed last night but got very restless at his usual feed time of 3am. He's like clockwork! This time I had to put the dummy in twice and he went back to sleep again in about 10 minutes. He woke again at 5:50 and I thought uh oh this is it for the day, but another dummy trip and he slept until 7am. DH got a lie in too!

It's gorgeous and sunny here today, hope it's going to last, we had it on and off yesterday. Still freezing though, but at least it looks nice. We're off up north to Derbyshire for the weekend. My parents still have a cottage up there and we have other family there, so we're going to a family party and to spend the long weekend. My mum is excited to show J off to her friends up there. I can't remember whether they have wifi up there now, so I might be offline. Not going until tomorrow though.

Hope you all have a good day xxx

Thankfully it was just 4am - 5.30am this morning (then he came in with us for an hour) but I was awake at 1am and 3am for a wee?? It was like being preggers again !!

I am on the pill but thinking to stop it and use OPK's to avoid fertile time. We are not having much sex at all.

I will NTNP in about 15 months though and actively TTC from November 2014.

xxxxxxx

Yes, how did that happen, I never used to get up for a wee in the night, but now my bladder seems to have trained itself to need one at 3am when I feed. I need to train it back again! I think you're right that just their restless time, J is the same.

My DH is like your OH with the waking. He says this morning "you didn't have to get up at all last night, did you?" He missed the twice at 3am and once at nearly 6 then

Morning how is everyone?

Aww carnat that's rubbish. Hope you get a chance to have a rest over the weekend. I found with room temp T is happier sleeping in the warmer ranges but our house drops temp at night really fast and that's when he gets restless. Cupcakes sound like a lovely alternative to eggs.

Wilson I hope Arthur gets better soon. It's heartbreaking when they have a horrible cold and there's not a whole lot you can do for them.

L_a that's great news that you had a better night and I hope it stays that way. Sounds like you've got a lovely weekend planned.

T has us up at 2am for a feed, we've noticed he's doing every three days and that's why I've brought in the dream feed but he down 7oz at 2am no problems. I wonder if we're about to start a growth spurt. He is taller as when I put him in his door bouncer yesterday I had to shorten the strap as he was squatting and not standing in it. I swear the other day he was only just flat on his feet in it and it was on its biggest setting.

Luckily oh and I are taking it in turns at night. He felt so bad for me when I was bf'ing and up 3-4 times a night he really wants to share the load. Bless him he was on about getting up at night with for a whole week but I said no as he's in work, so we've compromised we take it in turns each night but whoever has the night 'off' has to get up with them after 6am. It's been a huge help.

I've got a day of cleaning and packing today as we're going to drive to Essex tonight. We'll just do bedtime routine as normal but leave at 7 when he would go down plus he stirs for his feed at 10pm and we'd be there by then.

We've got so much to do this weekend it's easier to leave tonight than loose a day tomorrow. We've got oh's parents to see, a couple of friends, my sister, anyone of my brothers will probably drop by to cuddle t and then an Easter egg hunt on the Sunday. Phew!

Xx

Sounds like a busy weekend sazz, hopefully with bub getting spoilt rotten you can have a bit of a break too? When we go to the in-laws I literally hand James over and get waited on hand and foot

Get well soon Arthur, at least it's not a lovely warm Easter - the weather is a good excuse for lots of cuddles and cosy afternoons in your PJ's!

Anyone had any joy on the rolling over front? James is 75% there - it's just one arm he can't position properly.

xxxxxxx

Thanks l_a, I miss it too in a way but I wish that my bfing experience wasn't so tainted by all the pain and bleeding :(

Sounds like everyone's LOs are sleeping through 2 nights out of 3! How strange xx

Arthur doesnt sleep, 4 months in and he still likes to feed 2-3 times a night and stirs alot with trapped wind, so count yrself cery lucky girls ;) xx

Sally have u fully stopped bf now xx

No rolling yet for us or grabbing feet, he can move half a circle with wriggling on his tummy, look to grab his feet, so now joy there lol xx

I dont pee in the night no more, i did in the first few weeks after having him, but its settled now. Xx

I dont think i ever mentioned but when i was in labour because i had trouble in delivery as arthurs head was dislodged at an angle, i had to really push or it was c section, so the midwifes and dr's got my feet and pushed them into me on every contraction, however they pushed that hard pushing my toes back they damaged my tendon on my big toe into my foot and its only just getting better, its been agony, couldnt push up on the floor with arthur, sit on my legs, wear heels, move my foot in certain ways, wasnt sure how long it would last xx

Nope still going hun, she only actually gets topped up with about 4oz of formula a day which is great.

Ouch about your toe! I was going to ask if you complained but I suppose they did what they needed to do to get Arthur put safely xx

Yer exactly, i was rushed round to hdu after having him as i lost 2 1/2 pints of blood and had to have a transfusion because my bp was very low and my heart rate through the roof, so i didnt worry about my toe :(

Yay brill news on the bf, i keep looking out for tips that will help, but less stress more milkage lol, bf makes me laugh, its either all or nothing, i block feed so the other boobie fills quicker and when i wap it out its squirting out every where poor arthurs gasps for air lol

Xxxx

Hello you lovely lot ::)

Wilson Madison isn't sleeping through either up every 3 hours although last night it was only once but hasn't slept through for 4/5 weeks now.

Sazz have a lovely weekend with the family! We too and travelling today so busy sorting out the house :) hand over T when you get there and chill :)

Nat..no rolling for us, she will occasionally go to the side but that's it. I've helped her roll over and she looks amazed lol so hopefully soon!?
She sits up on her own really well for a few seconds then has a wobble, and she LOVES to grab her feet and eat them! Yuk!! Lol

Busy packing today and cleaning, we are leaving for Cardiff at about 4ish to see my mum and drop off the pooch, then tomorrow we brave bank holiday traffic to drive to Scotland :) we thought about doing it over night but still undecided at the mo. we're in Scotland till Tuesday then it's to the airport for our holidays on Wednesday :D very busy seeing family again but looking forward to it!

La..your weekend sounds great have a
Great time x

xx

Sazz - that's a great tip of when to travel. That would work like a dream for us too! Will bear that in mind.

Sally - I have the utmost respect for you, I really do, I know how hard BF is when it doesn't come easy and you've battled through with expressing for 4 months! I struggled with BF but there was no real reason why I couldn't have expressed regularly except it's hard to keep up when you're tired and coping with all the other demands of a newborn. You have done an awesome job and I hope you know that.

Nat, no rolling here. Not even close. He can almost sit unaided though. Not sure why no interest in rolling.

Wilson - ouch! Js head was at an angle too, which is why I had a 3.5 hour pushing stage and I injured my coccyx. I realise now the midwives were probably keen to get him out too, but they did not communicate that to me at the time. Funnily enough I didn't notice the coccyx till the next day, probably all the endorphins.

Mrswoody - have a good trip, sounds like a mammoth drive! Where are you going on hols, did I miss it?

xxx
