***June 2019 Mummies***

Wow Smithy I had no idea that swimming would also help with tearing. Even more reason to keep up my swimming! If you don't mind me asking which massage oil are you using? I have heard about using coconut oil and I have some I use for getting off waterproof makeup so I was thinking of using that?

I've been looking at loads of different ways to make labour easier. I have read about a German doctor who suggests going low GI although there aren't a lot of English articles about it. I figure I eat fairly healthily anyway and low GI isn't much of a change so its worth trying. I'm also going to keep up walking an hour a day and swimming at least twice a week and doing yoga one or twice a week and sitting on my ball and doing 20 mini squats every time i go to the loo. I'm also going to start upping my raspberry leaf tea to 2 cups a day on Sunday and start eating 3 dates a day. (I'll add more, including pineapple, once I get to 37 weeks and baby is closer to arriving). It will probably do nothing for a painless labour but its worth a try. It might be more helpful than the hypnobirthing seeing as DH loves to read the relaxation script in a silly voice so I end up cracking up instead of practicing relaxation!

Possibly a silly question but ladies who are planning on BF what are you planning on wearing? I assume nursing bras are needed? What about nursing tops? Or do you just wear normal clothes and work around it? I know I'll probably be wearing pjs for the first few days/weeks/months but eventually I would like to wear clothes again and have no idea how to adapt my wardrobe to cope! Is it different if you pump vs just BF?

Why are there so many lovely clothes for sale now when I won't fit in any of them!?!

I know Abi , I didn't realise either but she said yoga and swimming are proven to help. Something to do with widening the pelvis.
The oil I have is from the Expert Midwife online. It was a tad expensive but had rave reviews so thought I would give it a go x

I’ve breastfed my previous two. I didn’t bother with nursing specific clothes, mainly just tops and bottoms. If you want to wear a dress it will prob need to be nursing or little thin straps you can easily pull down. Also depends how confident you feel out and about feeding. Nursing clothes do tend to be more discreet but I used to be fine just pulling up my top. Nursing bras aren’t a must though and I brought crop top/comfort type ones as well for in bed as you do leak and need something to hold pads.

Midwife went well, baby head down, free (expected that as second didn’t engage till labour!) I did mention I have had slight itchy feet though and because I had Cholestasis with my first I got sent up to hospital. Waiting for blood results at day clinic. So bored as oh had to have little one and school run, so on my own xx

Breast feeding wear is a personal preference really. I found nursing bras a must and nursing vests really helpful. I didn't get on with specific nursing tops because I found they just had cut out bits for your nipples, which I found awkward and messy as milk drips etc. I didn't feel comfortable with pulling my top up after pregnancy so I used nursing bras, with a nursing vest and then a blouse over the top. The only problem with that is that it leaves you a bit exposed on your chest, which you may not be bothered about but I really liked using an udder cover, which our little one was fine with but I know not all babies are happy being covered by something! Xx

I hope your blood results are ok Bubbles, when should you get them back? Try and enjoy the peace and quiet  xx

Had to wait just over an hour in end so not too bad and blood was all fine. Got to go back after bank hol if still itching to have repeat to see if bile levels has risen. Even got back to taken eldest swimming :) xx

Glad the blood results went well bubbles. Enjoy your swim.

I think I'll get a few different styles of nursing top cheap and then see how I go. I also have some huge muslin swaddles that will make nice nursing covers. At home I won't mind showing boob if it's just me and DH and I'll just go to another room when my parents are here to visit. I don't really think public breastfeeding is done here even with 2 tops, I've never seen anyone else doing it but I know the government are trying to push to encourage BF.

I think I finally got to sleep about half hour after writing that post last night & slept ok. Woke up twice to pee but wasn’t too bad sleep.

Just catching up on the convo. I didn’t tear with either of mine so I’m hoping it means I’ve got good stretchy skin & I’ll be fine this time too! My mum didn’t either & she had 3 natural deliveries so I’m hoping it means it’s in the genes & I’ll be ok 3rd time as well ! Lol.

As for breastfeeding clothing there’s a group on Facebook called “can I breastfeed in it? UK” - I only heard about it a couple weeks ago but it’s s good little group. Loads of advise & pictures of outfits to breastfeed in. One of the tips is to stock up on loads of primark crop tops & wear them over a vest top, that way you just pull down the vest top & your still covered by the crop top! Any dresses/jumpsuits with buttons or zips down the middle are great too!

Abi, I've bought a few nursing bras and a couple of nursing vest tops for now, plus 2 sets of nursing pj top/short sets. Will pick up more at a later date. I think I'll probably jusy end up wearing vest tops and jeans, maybe with a blouse or something covering. I don't generally wear dresses so won't need anything like that xx

I'm glad you're bloods were ok Bubbles and that you managed to sleep ok after Linnett.
I'm really struggling with little man at the moment, he keeps having these complete emotional breakdowns which are exhausting for everyone! This evening it was because I wouldn't let him eat a frozen waffle! He just goes mental and if it's a situation where I need to be anywhere near him, to get him out of the bath etc he head butts me and kicks my belly, which is really painful! Things are getting worse rather than better and it's making me really concerned about how I'm going to manage with a newborn as well. At least hubby will be off for a good amount of time initially so can help but little man won't have anything to do with him at night, so was in with me last night after waking in one of these states at midnight, so I'm also getting very little sleep! Xx

You ladies all seem so organised. I haven't got anything for nursing yet, only just got the essentials. I'm glad you all have some experience as it's hard to know what the good stuff to get is and what isn't worth bothering with.

No I’m with you smithy, I’ve got next to nothing. I still feel like I have loads of time although in reality this baby could come within the next 6 weeks if it wanted & im will just very “meh” about it lol. Not about baby, I can’t wait for baby but as for everything I need I just think yeah I’ll get round to that at some point... ha

I’ve just put this pregnancy/bump timeline from month 1 to 7 together. It’s weird to look at the first pics & think god I was so small!! Lol

I'm far from organised! I've literally left it all last minute. I've got the essentials for baby and myself. We've got what we need if she decides to come early. The rest I will buy as and when it's needed when she gets here :)

Linnett, I still think your bump is lovely and neat :)

I'm usually really unorganized, but this time Iv got 97% of everything needed. A woman my hubby knows had her baby the Other day at 31 weeks so now I'm preparing to buy the last bits even tho I know this baby will more than likely be late lol.

It’s funny you should say that marvellous I was actually googling the likelyhood of third baby coming earlier because everyone keeps saying I’m really low & it’ll be early. But because my others 2 were late I’ve got it in my head that this one will be too but last night I suddenly thought oh crap what if it was early, I really need to get my sh*t together lol

Hahaha linnett this is the thought that spurred me on to get semi-organised lol. Both my babies arrived late, one at 10 days and the other 4 days. I just figured this baby would arrive late too. But then realised that she could potentially arrive on time or early as the previous pregnancy was early compared to my first....so what if she decides to trump them both?!

She gave me a little scare yesterday. I'd not really felt her move all day. Felt her at breakfast time for about 10 mins, then nothing until i picked hubby up at 5pm. Even took the youngest to his swim lesson, the noise usually sets baby off, but still felt nothing. Was ready to ring midwife but then she had a wriggle as soon as hubby got in the car. Will keep an eye on her today, hopefully she's a little more active. If not i might ring the unit for a little reassurance.

Hope everyone is doing OK? Can't believe how close we all are to the birth! I don't know about you all but this pregnancy has gone crazily fast!

So my plug has started to break away... only a small amount and I know it means nothing but still.... esp as I had really bad upset stomach yesterday (cue panic to find a loo while out)
I started at 35 weeks with my 2nd and he was still late lol will be keeping an eye on it tho.

Oh marvellous!!! Hopefully she stays put a little while longer yet. I've read that the mucus plug can come away and partially grow back, just means the cervix is shifting a little? I lost mine just before labour with my first, but didn't lose it until i was actually in labour with my second. So, generally it means nothing....but still something to be excited about! I keep looking at the toilet paper to see if there's evidence of things moving, but theres never anything there!

Ok, question....what do you buy a soon to be 6 year old for his birthday. He's asked for Pokemon stuff, he's obsessed. So we've bought him some characters to go with his vast amount of other characters. I don't just want to buy him Pokemon stuff, so any ideas greatly recieved! My brain has gone to mush!

I’m not that organised either have got the basics apart from a pram- baby keep an eye on movements still and Marvellous hope your ok - hopefully baby will stay put for a few more weeks.

I actually get my section date this morning- I’m hoping I be around 38 weeks as just don’t feel ready. I would say that’s only advantage with having a section at least you know when to expect baby to arrive.

Not sure on 6 year old boys baby, with having all girls but we usually just take ours to smyths and let them pick out some toys x
