*** June 2015 Mummies ***

Just had a nosy on the April mummies thread. 8 of the April babies were born in March! I wonder how many of us will end up with May babies? My birthday is 29th May so would be cute to share a bday with my little one!

I'm working over easter weekend babyscotcher :( just inhaled an entire easter egg to make myself feel better! Whoops..

I am also working all weekend! :(

I've just munched some cream eggs hehe!

Xx

I'm away visiting family in Norfolk. lucky as hubby gets holidays off and as I'm on alternative work duties are quite flexible as hubby saving his leave for summer.

Is anyone going to hire a Tens machine? I've been looking into it.

OH proposed to me today!! Am so so shocked, was not expecting it at all, literally thought we'd be a couple who were together for like 10 years before that happened. Had no idea it was on his mind, bless him. Off ring shopping tomorrow (the prop ring was his nan's engagement ring), although not feeling confident finding one, I'm very fussy! I like the look of more antique rings, so not sure how we'll get on. Poor OH, ring shopping in the morning then NCT in the afternoon haha! Xx

Congrats bethy!!!! That is amazing news :-)! What a lovely Easter surprise - he should have put a ring in an egg ;-)

Hmm Lucy am not sure about tens. I haven't researched a huge amount into it. Probably will go down the drugs route... Lol!

Think I've had a few braxton hicks today. Wee bit uncomfy. Like mild period pain low in my tummy. Lasted no more than a minute maybe. Anyone else having this?

Congrats bethyboo. That's amazing news. Enjoy shopping x

Congrats bethy!! Fab news!! :)

I've had Braxton hicks but no pain with it. Only pain I'm getting is ligament pain :( driving me crazy! Xx

I've been getting BH with bit of pain. It caught me out in Starbucks yesterday.

Congratulations Bethyboo! What a lovely Easter suprise.

Sorry to all of you working over the easter weekend, I am glad at times like these to work in a 9-5 office environment. I am going to enjoy spending 4 whole days (well 3 now I suppose) with my OH as he is self employed so doesnt often take time off and usually work Saturday. Lots to do but with some serious R and R in between. X

Congrats Bethy! How exciting!

I've got a Tens machine that I used with DD. It wasn't much more at all to buy one over rent so I figured I may as well, at least I've got it when I need it and don't need to worry about returning it. I used it in early labour with DD and I plan to use it again this time. I didn't find it that helpful when the contractions started hotting up though, I needed gas and air in the end. Also you can have it in water obviously but it is handy to have for those early stages, particularly as that early stage can last a long time with your first!

I'm working today :( Had a fairly nice day yesterday though, did some Easter crafts and an egg hunt with DD. Going to see family tomorrow and hopefully do a few bits in the house Monday.

Congratulations Bethy!! Have fun shopping for your ring :-)

I had loads of things I wanted to get done this weekend but not feeling too good so haven't got any of it done yet! We did go round a few shops yesterday looking at chests of drawers for the baby but didn't end up buying one and DD had a total meltdown which resulted in DH having to carry her screaming across the car park....just a bit stressful!! We've got to do a food shop today so we're leaving her with my mum for a couple of hours so we can do it in peace! We're also going to sneak off for lunch :-)

DH spoke to his mum yesterday and she's offered to buy us a set of drawers next time they come to visit but that won't be until end of May and I want to get organised before then so she's bound to take that as us being ungrateful but never mind!!

Hoping to go to an Easter egg hunt tomorrow but still waiting for confirmation that DD has a place on it!!

Lovely news Bethy, congratulations! My ring was 4 sizes too big (rude!!) so getting to choose it yourself might be a good thing!

We finally got our nursery furniture sorted out. Went to Mama's and Papa's to see the set we liked online and knew was on offer and thought it was nice, then they showed us another set which is ridiculously expensive and not really to my style but, if we bought the ex-display it was 50% off. Didn't know what to do as tbh, if it wasn't on offer we wouldn't have looked twice so we went to the Pram Centre to look at the Silver Cross set we wanted all along and they also sold the M&P set there so we could compare. Decided the M&P ex-display set was a better buy as it was much sturdier and the wardrobe was full adult sized.

Heybabya the Pram Centre have got a massive clearance sale on their ex-display stuff. They offered us the same M&P set we saw on offer direct for £500 but it was a bookcase, tall boy, self / coat hanger thing, single bed, changing tale / drawer set and a single bed! We didn't get it as the cot bed was £700 or something individually and the rest of the stuff had been a it battered whereas it was in good condition in M&P. They did have a lot of nice cots like Silver cross for £99 which looked in good condition so it's worth a trip this weekend if you're still looking for furniture as I know you were keeping an eye on Argos.

I'm now in full on textiles mode and can't decide whether to order fabric that I really like and get curtains made or buy off the shelf - I'd like the latter but can't find any plain blue ready made curtains without gingham??

Also, does anyone else have bumpers on their cot? I know it's not recommended but I was thinking, moses baskets don't look like they circulate air well to me and are very confined whereas a cot is a much bigger surface area? x

Hey Belfa, I've seen plain blue curtains in Dunelm. Not sure if you have them in Scotland though!?

We never used bumpers for DD. I had a friend that did but she said they don't cover the full length of the sides so her lo used to bang his head anyway, she said they came undone sometimes too and she just found them annoying. I don't plan on using them this time either.

We only used the moses basket for about 10 weeks with DD as she was so big she outgrew it quickly. Newborns like being confined in tight spaces though, reminds them of being in the womb I suppose. That's why they're comforted by swaddling.

Ah Dunelm! Yes one opened up not far from me recently so will have a look, thanks!

I think bumpers are overpriced too though I quite like the ones that wrap round 2 bars at a time leaving a gap in between x

I was in the pram centre and mamas and papas today Belfa! Totally exhausted. Sitting at home with hot water bottle on my back!

We got bedside crib and mattress from pram centre. And then mattress for cot bed from mamas and papas cos they have a 15% sale thing. Ordered my furniture set online but you can see it in the pram centre - is the silver cross white/cream set with dark wood edging! Wonder if that's the one you liked!? They did have a lot of good offers on today, Tho none on my set thankfully - as have already ordered. We went quite early so that we could avoid the crowds there - cos the pram centre can be a bit cuckoo!

My MIL is making curtains for our nursery - we are going to choose fabric together. Not got a clue what to get! Kinda hard to choose unisex curtains that aren't just beige!

Belfa what is your m&p set like? Dark/natural/white wood?? They have some lovely ones!

Thanks! I ended up buying a furniture set from Babies r us as Argos were doing my head in. Reviews are mixed so I was a bit apprehensive but hubby put up the set the other day no problem, lovely set and I ended up paying £335 for wardrobe, cotbed and chest of drawers with changer so i'm well chuffed!

Think i'll go along to Pram Centre tomorrow if its open, just want a wee nosy, still need a mattress for cot too.

Oh why are bumpers not recommended?

Congrats Bethy! Amazing news :)

My mum bought us the Olive and Henri bedding set with bumpers included. I'll prob just use them for first 6 months for decoration more than anything, to make his nursery look complete.

The windows in our nursery are floor to ceiling so we need such long curtains, we have opted for plain green ones to match the Olive and Henri theme :)

I've got so much to do!! Our nursery wardrobe was damaged so that's been replaced but needs building. I need to build a set of draws for babies room, 2 cot beds and draws for our room. Luckily OHs friend built the rest. I've also only painted to where I can reach in our bedroom so waiting for my mum to come finish the higher parts off but shes in hospital every day visiting my grandad! I've also got to buy beading for my new floor and paint it before it gets put down! Feel like the first few weeks of pregnancy went so slow and I was getting organised, and now its going too fast and not enough hours in the day!!!

We are paying final payment on our pram on Monday which my nan has bought for us, so that should be here soon enough :) excited!!

There are different views on it, but this is one of them, I know it's put a lot of people off. To be honest I wasn't aware of this with DD, I just didn't get them because I didn't really think about it and never got round to buying any. Didn't miss them though!

So weird. I asked a person in a shop about bumper safety today and she didn't have a clue - had never heard anything about the risk. So I left thinking I was going crazy and had just made it up!!

Allllll the shops sell them and advertise their cots and cribs with them! Yet they are not recomended (per that article buggy shared) in sooo many countries except the UK. How odd!!
