****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Shan my MW gave me the form (signed by her) at my 16 weeks appointment and told me to post it after 20 weeks scan. I have it all ready to go but keep forgetting to post!!! Will do it tomorrow x

Ah I'll have to ask them then! Maybe we get it at the next appointment here after the scan just. I can't wait to see what's in it lol xx

Mine came with a picture of what goes in it! LOADS of stuff incl clothes and things like room and ear thermometer. I will try and upload the pic x

haha I love eBay! I'm the same as you I just lurk until the last 30s then bid as late as I dare

I looked at maternity dresses last night but nothing caught my eye. I did get a close caboo for £15 last week. I was so chuffed as it was barely used and I should be able to sell it on for the same price afterwards. I swear some of the slings and wraps in eBay end up going for more than they would new

I discovered laurella mama last week to and bought a beautiful yellow floral dress which is suitable for nursing. hoping to wear it for the wedding we're going to in August. that was only £15 at the time to. very happy to say that this week I have not spent a penny so far. found a hypnobirthing book I want but I'm going to try and do another week of no spending first

I'll definitely have a look for a sling on eBay.

I actually meant to say about the hynobirthing book. I think I found one on eBay with the cd too so hopefully I can get one there cheaper than paying new. I'm going to get addicted. I'm so bad for shopping and you just press bid and it's done... Oh will be thrilled haha. I'll google laurella mama thanks :) xx

I'm a lurker and late bidder as well, love it.

What's a baby box and how do I apply? haha.

I hope to feel movements soon, I did last night but not sure if my brain is just making it up as I know where baby was lying from the scan haha x

Haha let's hope we never bid on the same items :rotfl:

What's a baby box and how do I apply? haha.

It's a government funded project that gives new mothers a box filled with baby essentials and your baby can actually sleep in the box too. I may be wrong but I think this is only available in Scotland just now?? Your MW should be able to give you a form xx

Wow had like ten pages to catch up on since last night. Mother in laws, placentas, contraception and scans! Congratulations everyone who had scans...Jem that's amazing! A little boy...

My baby is moving again and kicking more regularly and definitely more strong which is putting my mind at ease a lot more, stretchmarks are appearing!!
I have mixed feelings about all the MIL talk....I guess it's natural to be very protective at this time in our lives about our children. I'm sure I would be too. But I've never met my MIL as she passed away from breast cancer before I met OH. She sounded like a really nice lady, and I know it's going to be emotional for OH and for FIL that she's not there to meet our little one (this is the first grandchild for OH family!). It's going to be a bit difficult for them feeling like she's missing, especially as my mum will be there.
And I don't have to really worry about FIL cuz he's about 78!! (Got married later and had kids later and OH youngest of 4). He'll probably travel up from London when he hears I'm in labour and stay in a hotel, and I imagine I'll be absolutely fine with him coming to visit the baby really early. He won't have the energy to stay for long but so much negative has happened in his life lately, lost his wife and lost his eldest son suddenly two years ago (found him dead in his house after not hearing from him for a couple of weeks -AWFUL) that I know he's really looking forward to our little one arriving and I can't wait to see his face light up when he holds him/her.

My whole family live abroad, so my mum is coming for a month hopefully about two weeks before and two weeks after from Korea... But you know babies will come when they like. She's coming basically to help and she'll be staying with us. Neither of us mind... I know she'll have lots of cuddles.. Maybe it's cuz I only usually see her once or twice a year, I'm really hoping it will be a lovely time for her and me to spend together.

I've also been thinking about contraception post-baby. Would rather not have something hormonal but might have to because we both hate sex with condoms! It's something about them but no matter how much lube we use, they seem to just dry up really quickly. And I'm sure the two times I've had thrush has been on the rare occasions that we tried to use condoms. Tried the implant - had it removed when I bled continuously for 5 months and nothing was working... So hmm not sure yet. I'm nervous about the injections cuz they said you get a lot of weight gain and that it's possible you won't ovulate for upto 2 years afterwards... Anyone used them with good results?

Yeah its only in scotland.
Jem you can get emmas diary and bounty stuff download app or online x

Sounds like your FIL has had a terrible time. Hopefully the baby gives him something positive to look forward to. I'd say having your mum with you will very helpful too.

I was going to try the implant before the pill but half of my contraception needs are also for heavy periods so I have no idea what to do. Bleeding like that would drive me crazy! I don't think most people realise how hormone contraception affects their bodies until ttc. I turn into a crazy person anyway on the pill so it's off the table for me. And we hate condoms too :/ I'm going to end up with a surprise no 3 at this rate lol
Xx

I have no idea what to do for contraception afterwards either. Hubby and I had been using condoms before TTC as none of the pills agree with me (weight gain, depression) and I can't do the injection. The only thing I'd vaguely consider is the coil but I'm not sure I fancy it. Hubby hates condoms but he might just have to put up with it. Once we're done having children, if he wants no condoms he can get the snip!

Lmao shan, youll be joining GG in the earliest thread after having baby lol.
Ahh my husband has said no to the snip. Ill change his mind lol x

JaneyJan, what an awful time your fil and husband have had. I'd have no problem with my mum staying either but I guess it's because she's a/my mum, b/not remotely opinionated or intrusive and c/the polar opposite of my MIL who would literally make life hell. It is only Dans family we feel this way about. Other family and friends can come and go as they please.

Jem, there are a few counties in the UK trialling the babybox. I did check and Gloucestershire is not on the list but it's worth googling it to see if you are. Xx

Is anybody buying a sleepyhead?? They actual sleepyhead is so expensive! But you get cheaper varieties... I will need one for the cot downstairs. Not sure if I want to buy a second hand one either x

I'm in a dilemma!!! Hoping you can all help.

I've fell in love with the Ocarro travel system from Mamas & Papas, I have found it for £699.99 with a maxi cosi car seat on the web. Direct from Mamas & Papas with the car seat is £929! I will just buy a isofix to go with the car seat, now thats a really good price and ive not seen it cheaper else where.

We are going to the baby show at the NEC in May, am i likely to find the same deal cheaper or do i buy it at what ive found it for arghhhhhh!!

What would you do? xx

My OH has seen these and he went to a ladies house the other week (he fits Sky before you wonder why he was at someone house lol) and she said it was one of the best things she has bought, so we will be looking into one.

Probably buy it now. I'd kick myself if that's what I wanted and I couldn't get it as cheap again. It depends if you want to wait. If you're happy with the price you've found now then why not? Xx
