****July 2018 Mummies - Tri 2****

Wow. I have it lucky in terms of pregnancy symptoms. I have had nothing. But I do keep getting ill so makes up for it.
Pretty sure we all have the flu, I'm getting worse not better, dd woke up screaming, coughing can't breathe out her nose. :(

Woke up this morning with a swollen eye and bad headache on the side of my bad ear. Back to GP again today, they'll be sick of me soon! I read sinusitis can cause it and I'm assuming sinuses is what the doctor meant last time when she said the tubes connecting ear nose and throat can swell.. Ahhh this really is the worst :(

aw shanivy I hope you managed to get some sleep without the gaviscon. intake my ranitidine and still need gaviscon at night. for future reference as a fix if you run out my BIL swears by a tea spoon on ginger in hot water

for shanivy and others who already have kids how have you explained the birth process?

DD is 2.5 very switched on and a great communicator. she's asked how baby comes out of my tummy and at the time I said the Drs would use special magic to get it out or if it didn't work they might need to cut a hole in mummy called a c-section. anyway she asked again yesterday but got distracted before I answered but I figured I'd just tell her the truth (albeit without being gory) but don't want to scar her

PB Just seen your post, looks like you must be feeling just as bad as me then. Bless you x

Funny you should mention that Shep. We had a look at the ready steady baby book yesterday because I was explaining how my stomach gets big because the baby grows. And I was showing her the pictures of the women up to 36 weeks where you can see the bump and baby at the same time. Was really helpful for her to see from the inside.

Then we got to the labour section and there was that drawn diagram of the baby crowning and being born so I just told her how it comes out and where from. She's almost 4 and very clever. She saw it and asked me was that the baby so I explained how and where the baby comes out. My mil was shocked I'd told her? She says she's too young to know which I strongly disagree with. I'm not showing her a birth video with blood and screaming or a sex video to explain how babies are made. But I think its fine to tell her the truth rather than some weird crap about storks and that. Perfectly natural. I'm going to buy a children's book on it in the spring to read with her.

We also looked at the breastfeeding part because she was going through all the baby pictures. And I asked her what was happening and she said the baby is eating milk from the mummies boobies. How she's knows that I have no idea! But she's very clever so I think it's fine to tell them the truth. She's asked a few questions which I'm answering so that's just how I did it. She's older than your dd though so maybe if she was younger I'd not have been so forthcoming? I think a version of the truth is okay though Xx

Aw hun I hope not. Is someone seeing her today for you? Since she was fine mood wise yesterday, I'm hoping she's just dealing with a bad cold but you know your baby. Fx! Xx

Oh and I'll try the ginger thing if it happens again because a night without Gaviscon is not fun! God know how bad I'll be when the baby is actually big enough to affect my acid reflux again xx

I am so sorry to read that so many of us is suffering either with nausea, heartburn or flu :( I hope this ends soon and we can all enjoy 2nd Trimester. For those with flu and cold - please don't hesitate to see you GPs and make sure this is not developing into something bad! Sending hugs xx

Our DD is just over 2 and has no idea that mummy has a baby in her tummy. We are taking her to gender scan and hopefully that will help. I don't think she will ask how baby comes out, we will find a nice story to tell her but no detail will be shared lol :D

Ivy wasn't fazed at all by it. Big difference between 2 and 4 though so I get that. Everyone's approach wil be different xx

I really don't think she will ask. Good idea with the book actually, I think I have the one showing babies in different stages of development and also pics of breastfeeding, I will have a look with her.

We went to a soft play yesterday after work with another friend and her DD and at one point I found my DD sat next to a 4 month old baby in her car seat, she was giving the baby a dummy! (yes the baby was left alone). I run over there with a speed of light and took her away. She went back again 5 min later!!! She is fascinated with babies, if there is one in the same room as her, she will not leave it alone!! x

Were all having a bad time by the sounds of it.
Yeah we both managed to get an appointment today. She isn't happy at all. Seems abut better after calpol but only lasts a few hours. She Can only have 2.5 atm still. She also not drinking much, her nappies are less and less full, completely forgot to change her nappy for about 4-5 hours yday usually really heavy and full, you know the yellow lone goes blue when there's pee well it was barely blue, bot slot in there at all. :( not even had her poop this morning, but she has some of her morning bottle. Sorry going on, Just worried lol.

That doesn't sound good hun, no wonder you are worried! Glad you got an appointment for today.

Is she taking formula ok? I think you can give her an extra feed if she is not wetting her nappies. Hopefully GP can give you some advise x

Thanks for the replies

DD is obvs a farm girl and has seen lambing and calving and isn't fazed by it (I think husband is hoping she'll lamb a sheep herself this spring) so I think she'll understand. I think I'm more worried about her then repeating what I say and other people telling me she's too young to hear thereal story

husband did say this morning "just tell her it's like a massive poo"

oh PB how worrying for you, glad you've got a gp app, she definitely needs it if not wetting enough. hope you get sorted quickly

Oh PB, sounds like you're both having a really rough time. Hope the GP can help you both feel better soon.

Wouldn't worry about what other people say she's your daughter. Like you say with the farm she's seen birth before so it's basically you telling her we do the same thing as the animals do. She'll probably understand more because of the animals .

Always count on the men eh? Haha xx

Just added 3 packs of baby nappies to my weekly shop order, hubby insist we should stock up (again...men!) x

Gosh I feel for you! I can understand why you're worried if she isn't getting much fluids. Dd did that when not well, and most babies do so don't panic too much. (I know I know) You're doing all the right things. Hopefully the doctor will tell you it isn't flu. Just keep offering her extra bottles of you feel she's not drinking enough. and water in the bottle if she won't take formula at all. I found when dd refused a feed with a cold or sickness she'd take boiled water. Fx and I'll be thinking of you both xxx
