*** July 2012 Babies ***

Had my midwife apt today, she attempted twice to get blood but no luck so sent me to pathology lab at the hospital. The phlebotomist attempted 3 times and finally got blood - but said I'll bruise be ause of where she took it from. Both my arms are killing me now. Also told me I've put on 7kg during the pregnancy which is very good apparently and she's measuring 6lb 13oz at 35 weeks lol so looks like she'll be big! :)

Ouch, five attempts!! 7kg, thats really not very much at all. Hope I'm like that!

Just realised I missed the 50 day marker, woop woop! Not long now! xxx

I'm lucky I have chunky veins so easy to give blood but I can imagine you're sore from being used as a pin cushion!

Somehow I've only put on 8.5lbs and midwife guesses baby is about 6lb at 35+4 weeks! Not sure how accurate her guess is!

Be interesting to see how much our lo's weigh at birth - did your midwife give you a full term guess weight Frankie? Mine says 8lb x

Yeah she said at least 8lb 11oz - will be interesting to see!

Ouch! So do they do bloods again at the 35week appt? And are the weights just guesses? Or is it to do with measurements etc... I have my 35week midwife appt next wed!x

I haven't had any bloods done since my 28 week appointment but I did get to shove a giant Cotten bud up my nose for MRSA test!

The weights are to do with measurements and the midwife having a good feel of baby! She thinks my baby is quite long and I've measure ahead on my fundal height. X

Cotton bud up the nose does not sound fun at all!!!!!!!
Hate getting blood taken...!
At my scans my baby has always measured bang on its dates (except at 20week scan it's legs we're a bit longer- I found this cute) but my fundal hight has always been a wee ahead, but think that's to do with my pre-pregnancy jelly belly! Haha!

In my area they re-do bloods at 34 weeks to check iron levels (just happened to be 35 by time appt came through) but it seems other areas don't do routine bloods at 34.

just back from my scan and consultant app there not going to bother inducing me as baby is still growing well but need to go back in 2 weeks for another scan, just cant wait till she's here im sick of seeing the place lol

Good luck for the next scan.

I'm sick of waiting too - I just want to have her here!

Looks like we may soon be having the first 'july' baby - good luck Deedee

Go deedee! Makes it seem so much closer for me!

Anyone else met their health visitor yet? Mine came round today to explain her role etc and she is lovely! I really expected an older matron type person but she was so nice and chatty and made me feel like I could ask anything without being judged.
Her last words were "I'll next see you with your baby"
Eeekkkk!

Exciting! I haven't met mine yet, the midwife came round the other day to sort out my birth plan but she didn't mention anything about meeting the hv

My midwife didn't mention anything either - I didn't even realise we saw a health visitor before the birth until mine rang and asked to come see me and I was like " you know I haven't given birth yet don't you?" which she found quite funny!
It probably varies from area to area but I got the impression that they would normally see you about 36 weeks.

I had a woman yesterday, she wasn't a health visitor as such, but she worked along side them. And helps them out! She wa lovely too, and really approachable...!xx

Can't believe all these babies are arriving! It's making me nervous and very excited! Less than 2 weeks to
Go until due date and boy am I ready!

Haven't heard anything about health visitors yet either. Nor have my midwives discussed birth plans or anything! Good job I'm quite laid back about it all!
