***September 2016 Mummies - the last lap***

Ethan's still not gained weight and if I stick purely to breast he's unsettled all the time. However give him a 50 ml bottle of formula and he'll sleep for a few hours. (After 30min on each breast and a bottle at bed time he goes about 4 hours).

So as much as it makes me emotional, we'll start trying combined feeding for a while and see how we go. He's still currently 1lb 2oz below birth weight.

Aww RRS fingers crossed your milk appears when you can get her on you as soon as, I really hope she is in your arms soon.

Karen that's really good for him :)

Lander, you are doing amazing and if you need to combi feed them go for it :) x

Jacob is feeding 5oz 3 hourly  he was going 4 hourly but the last 24 hours he's been looking for it every 3 hours. Hoping he goes back to 4 hourly cos that's too much feed in 24 hours lol

Keep an eye on the milk intake and poop output.

HV and Dr advised Jackson was just hungry when feeding at this rate but actually over course of time it was bad. He got so bunged up and it went round in a circle. Eventually we gathered he had silent reflux and was eating to help the pain. We eventually had to space out feeds to as close to 4hr and offer cooled boiled water to keep the bowels going.

It is a good feed if he then goes back to normal but over a day or so it works out like his limit and a half for milk I believe which is too much for their wee bodies to process. So keep a wee eye out for that.

Hope he is well xxxx

I held my baby today for the first time!!
Once the nose pipe is out I can start trying breastfeeding. Have had a bit of a nightmare on the pump I just get nothing out but getting 6ml a time when I hand express. Trouble is I'm not doing it half as often as I need to being up and down to Polly all the while. Hopefully now she's awake and I'm holding her my body will go into overdrive

Oh I am so pleased for you :) when will the nose pipe come out? X

My son is 3 weeks on Tuesday and drinking between 3-5 oz bottles every 3-4 hours. He is always restless between 6-9 and a couple of people have mentioned ailentbreflux to me. I've currently got him on infracol and he is getting his wind up. When you say bunged up - how many days was he going ? My son is going every other day and I'm just trying to work out if that's normal?.

Been doctors with Oliver he's 1 month tomorrow.
He had baby acne and now it's dry patches and red itchy. It's eczema and he's got terrible colic, tummy trouble, stuffy nose and diarrhoea. Doctor thinks it's milk allergy but waiting to see if cream and colife works.

It's exhausting bless him

Hopefully tomorrow but I've totally mastered the pump now so she's getting lots of my milk so if it isn't tomorrow I'm not going to be too disappointed. She's content, so alert and won't sleep she's that nosey!! X

It's handy being a paediatric nurse isn't it :) ... if I write something and you suggest a method etc I will 100% trust your advice :) x

The HV says Jackson should have been going daily which he wasn't but ofcourse I just kinda figured out he started getting uncomfortable and when adding up all the milk I thought it was too much for him.

After we changed formula from sma to C&G, spaced out foods and got him regular again he was a different baby and ate/slept well.

Hope baby starts to feed a bit better for you. I know I felt like a total zombie during that time. xxxx

Well it's almost time for Jackson to meet his brother. He's super excited now and a little fed up I think. Keeps asking when he's coming bless.

I'm due a week tomorrow and not quite sure if I'll go late early or whatever but we are ready. Super exciting!

You lot all seem to be doing good. Hope the feeding hiccups pick up soon :)

xxxxx

RM I bet you are excited as well :)

I have never heard good things about sma, people I know that have used it have never had good results x

Well mastering the pump lasted a day!! I'm hardly getting anything today, 10ml if I'm lucky, after getting 50ml a time yesterday. Makes getting up at 2am to pump really disheartening. I'm seeing the breastfeeding lady tomorrow but have said she can have C&G formula to top her up.

Aww at least she will still get fed then :) and she will still grow with C&G x

Hi ladies

Sorry I keep meaning to come on here to see how everyone is doing and then time passes and before I know it it's been several days.

RRS hope the nose tube is out soon, sounds like she is doing fantastically though. Hopefully it won't be too long til you'll have her home with you.

Up until today james has been feeding two hourly but today he's been going 3 hours between feeds. Hoping it continues tonight so I can have a little more sleep! He's occasionally getting a bit of wind which he is struggling to get up so I am thinking of picking up some infracol tomorrow.

Going to go and register james tomorrow pm. His jaundice levels are coming down now too, hurrah! Feel like I am starting to settle into having a newborn again. Starting to find feeding a bit easier and I haven't been as sore today.

Hope everyone else's feeding issues are resolved soon.

RM best of luck for whenever it all kicks off for you! Exciting times ahead. Xxx

A few of you mention infracol, is that better than dentinox? I have been using that on Robert but don't get a lot of result from it x
