I'll be happy to get one name , forget about a middle name!
Lovely news on the gender scans. Nat have you got a name in mind? I take it you were hoping for a boy?!
Lovely name choice Beca. Did you suspect girl or did you have names for either picked already?
I'm still driving myself crazy trying to find a name. OH says i'm 'obsesses' just because i'm working my way through a name book. I told him it's perfectly normal lol. The silly thing is, when i'm reading the book even when i see a name thats on my short list it doesnt stand out. I think you have to hear the name or see it somewhere random- reading a list doesnt work!!
Awww lovely nat at team blue
Do you both have scan pics for us to look at![]()
Love the name beca, i hope who did it has their karma soon and comes and bites them fill force in the ass makes you wonder if it's some one who knows you or knows some one close to you to be targeted / try not to let the scum Ruin your lovely weekend away and finding out your having a girlxx
was thinking about you and the stress you were under waiting there CJ. Makes me wonder how worthwhile those initial tests are , or why they rate things the way they do- ( after all 1 in 15 is still only a 6% chance if my maths serves me correctly) but still, the difference between 6% and 0.1% is statistically huge so why do they use a test that is so inaccurate? So much stress for nothing, and i wonder how many choose an amnio and lose a healthy baby as a result? Its crazy. Still, i'm so pleased for you that you can carry on again with relative peace!

I hope karma gets him too. I think it was just opportunistic, probably lives near by and saw us load the cases into the car. I must admit I was pretty inconsolable when I got home Monday night and Tuesday morning but I'm better now. Just tough that they took things that meant so much and can't be replaced.
Anyway, happier things,. Meet Amelia Faith
Evening ladies. Wow what a week. Sorry it's been so long, (more about that in a minute). Well, the results are in. Private scan iis positive we are having a girl. Took a few minutes but she found the 3 white lines she was looking for. Amelia Faith is cooking well and a massive wriggler

Our scan was last Wednesday and hubby took me straight from the scan to Disneyland Paris for a long weekend for our wedding anniversary. What we didn't know is not an hour after we left our house someone smashed through the glass on the back door, climbed through and ransacked our bedroom, stealing jewellery left to me by my grandparents. 2 items made specially and are irreplaceable. My poor mother in law found it, front door open (porch was locked so he couldn't get out), glass everywhere in the kitchen. They called the police and fixed the door. Both my parents and my in laws fixed everything they could but didn't tell us until we got home. Couldn't believe it. We've never been burgled before, we were p my gone a few hours. Other holidays we've been gone weeks and nothing. They must've seen us load the cases![]()

The traditional 12 week testing on NHS has a false reading rate of 1:20 and accuracy of 79%. The test we has a false reading rate of 1:1600 and accuracy of 99% minimum. Its a relatively new test by the looks of it and when my cousins wife had it 4 years ago cost £900 and required the bloods being analysed in Japan. Until this year, Ive been told, all testing was in Japan or America. The London / Glasgow labs are relatively new (as per RVI information). It cost us £450 so the cost is coming down by its still a lot of money for a blood test. Granted the work they must do with the blood is advanced which is where the cost comes in as I bet the machines must be costly and so rare). I agree; imagine had we had the CVS and lost one or both babies for no reason? The risk is very low but its a risk we werent prepared to take. I feel for those who cant afford a test privately and either have to have no test or risk based test.
Funnily enough, I only found out about my cousins wife needing to do the same test yesterday when we explained our situation. They did IVF and so had a similar experience to us (we were due to start IVF soon had we not gotten pregnant on clomid so we did ok in comparison). They had a high risk for their son similar to us (1:18). They were told that fertility drugs skew results so the fact we both were on them and got a false positive says a lot. The lab told them that the NHS dont factor in fertility drugs or explain they can skew results.
Dont get me wrong, the NHS is wonderful and we get things other people would dream to have. But if there are known factors to skew results they should tell you. Wed have had the test anyway but had we known that we may have been less worried. Wish wed confided in my cousin too haha.
Im a scientist by education and my hubby is a chemical engineer so we both like to know facts and figures so went for the test on that basis. If we ever had another pregnancy (unlikely with twins already) I dont think I would after this. Because even though Im usually rational and balanced and would be like we have a 95% of it being ok, I lost all normal rational thinking and just felt raw emotion.

Sorry to butt in. So glad the results came in and they were great.
The pricing for NIPT is so variable. We paid £399 for a 30 minute scan and the blood test.
However the screening team told is when we went in for a chat that there is a fair few trusts that will have this as an option on the NHS from 2018 for the high risk 1in 150. There have also been sone trusts that offer it already as part of a trialling system. They know it's not totally accurate.
The amnio was a no go for us and we were fortunate that we could afford the test. It's another subject people don't take about it wasn't until we were going through it that people said actually we had the same issues x
Meet our little boy! No names yet. We have only had one serious discussion about names and didn't decide on anything. This could take us a while lol.
