***June 2019 Mummies***

Marvelous, glad you hear your on the mend eating and drinking wise. Sorry to hear your sinuses are giving you bother, when ever I get a cold it attacks my sinuses so I can totally relate to how annoying and painful it is. Yay for baby shopping though! I've been out this morning looking for a onesie for my youngest for after his swimming lesson. Thought I'd have a quick look at the girl stuff and I didn't see a thing I liked, yet there was loads of cute boy stuff! Typical lol

That's interesting Marvellous, what size was your eldest born? Xx

Haha smithy, I think nesting is kicking in for me too. Last week I gutted the bedrooms, this week it's the kitchen. I've got a massive cupboard on the landing that needs doing and under the stairs. But I'm taking it easy today. My hips last night where so sore, I could feel the nerves pinching when I got into bed. Had to relent and take a couple of paracetamol just so it would ease a little. Make the most of the nesting though, just rest when you can. When baby is here you'll have no time for the first few weeks. Not that you want to do anything but have baby snuggles!

Caz, how old is your eldest? This will be my boys first proper party with school friends. We arranged one last year but had to cancel has he got chicken pox! Do he's mega excited!

Oh bubbles, sorry to hear your leg is causing more pain. Honestly, you hear such horror stories about people being run over by their own car! I'm so glad (you know what I mean) that it's only a bruised leg you have. Could have been so much worse!

I normally go over with my babies, my first was 12 days, the youngest was 4 days. She's officially due in the 30th May as they forward dated me at the 12wk scan. So there is high chance that she will be born around the 1st if I go over a few days again. He's not bother if she's born on his birthday. He actually keeps asking how long til his birthday coz he wants to see baby :)
Your little boy sounds so sweet it’s nice that your making this birthday special for him - my eldest will be 15 on the 1st but last year we moved on her birthday - im due on 6th and my own birthday is on the 7th - so I’m guessing I’ll have my c section somewhere between 20th -30th May.

I have to agree when I been in Next the baby boys stuff looks much better than the girls range.
My babies weights have varied my biggest was 9.6lbs and my smallest 6.9lbs -my last 2 were both around 7lbs.

Hope your all are feeling well today xx

Woohoo, finally purchased some babygrows, least she won't be naked haha.

My babies where fairly big. My eldest was 9lb 1oz, and the youngest was 8lb 6oz. I'm hoping for a 7-8lb baby girl. My eldest got stuck in my birth canal so I'm hoping to avoid a baby that size lol

I don’t think we’ll buy anything until about 30 weeks. We’re hoping to get our garden done just in time for baby so we can all spend the summer in a lovely new garden but we’re looking at about £8-10k I think so baby stuff can wait for now haha! It’ll be hot when he/she is born so nappies alone should be ok ah ? ;-)

My first was 7.7lb & my son was 9.10lb. Both exactly 7 days late. They are going to monitor size this time. I said to midwife I don’t mind 9.10lb again, I can do that lol but her concern is if it bigger! I’d hate to be induced but if they feel it’s necessary I’ll hsve to I guess

My son was 7lb9 so he was a good size. I dont think this one will be any bigger, we've got bets on lol.

I dont trust the growth scans anyway. They are only a rough guide.

I'm really excited to do the clothes shopping. I find shopping for girls clothes so much easier lol. Already seen sooooo much. I found shopping for a boy alot harder.

Mine were 7.12 and then 8 pounds exactly. Induced at 12 days over with number one, 5 days over with number two. Expect this one to be late. Aiming for the Queens Birthday! :)

I’ve brought one sleep suit so far which we used to show girls the baby was a girl. A friend of a friend is selling bundles of girls clothes for £5 each including loads of vests, sleepsuits, dresses, rompers so I reckon I’ll get those and then just presents from everyone. They don’t have them on for very long before they are puked on! Haha. I am going to get a really cute outfit for my friends wedding when baby will only be a few weeks old though :) xx

Our little boy was 6lb8 at 40+3 but he's on the 50th percentile for weight now and 75th for height - he's a right little bruiser ;)
We had our anomaly scan today, all looking really good, it was great to get some good news for a change! And a posterior placenta this time so I'm really looking forward to feeling more movement :D xx

Quick question for all the ladies buying clothes, how do you know what size to buy? I assume newborn but I have heard of babies being born too big to fit in the newborn size, is that really rare? (hoping so because - ouch!) Do you stock up on the next size up too? Or all the way to a year so you have everything ready? How will I know how big he will be at Christmas for winter clothes? Especially with a June birthday, do I buy winter clothes in 6-9 months and hope he's a bit of a fatty? Do you need to buy preemie clothes too just incase?

I feel like this is such a simple question, why don't I know the answer? Am I massively over thinking this? Thanks to Marie Kondo I try to shop as intentionally as possibly so I don't want to mess this up and waste loads of clothes he never gets to wear.

Over thinking it abi, but I suppose it's easier to judge when you've already had a baby lol. For me I know I have babies on the bigger size so I always buy mainly 0-3 months, as the baby will rapidly grow in those first few months. I do buy a few newborn sleepsuits etc just incase. As for winter stuff, I don't normally bother until there here and I can judge how big there going to be in a month or twos time. And as linnett says, if we have hot weather in June/July chances are baby will be in nappies only. I rememeber when.my son was born, I made the mistake of buying loads of cute outfits it we had such hot weather he went naked most of the time so hardly any wear out of the outfits :(

Your best bet is to buy half newborn and half 0-3 months and have some pennies set aside incase you need more newborn or premie clothes when baby is here. Personally, I wouldn't bother getting winter clothes just becasue you never know how big their going to be. My son has always ran a size over. He's only 5yrs it has been in 6-7 for a good few months now! He was like this right from being little xx

Erm... I dunno I just brought some items and hoped they'd fit lol. No point going mad with new born as they don't last long at all. I made sure I had enough vests and grows as they are most important. Few pairs of leggings/trousers tops and warm cardigans.
If you buy enough that you have an outfit for every day of the week, that way you can buy more if you want. Youl find you won't always dress them anyway, just grow,.card I and blanket. Don't worry about winter stuff just yet.

That's my theory anyway, but everyone is diff. X

Exactly this. Iv had one who we had to run out and buy tiny baby clothes for as she was smaller than new born and a child that grew like a weed. My 4 year old wears 5-6 as he is so tall.

Buying clothes for a small person who you've never seen before is blooming hard lol

My turn for questions lol.

What bottles are you all using, if using them?

I'm going to try breastfeeding again, 3rd time lucky I hope. But want to have some bottles and steriliser in the back of the cupboard as a just in case. We used avent bottles with my eldest and as far as memory recalls I don't believe we had problems with them. With my youngest we started on avent but had to change to Dr Browns as he was soooo colicky, these bottles where good but so fiddly to clean! I'm undecided whether to try avent again, or an alternative. I've heard good things about the MAMs bottles, anyone had any experience with them? Or any other brand? Xxx

Good question Abi, I had no idea either but I’m waiting til I finish work to see what im given as I have a few clients I know wanting to buy me stuff. Then I’ll go buy a few bits.

I’ve bought a Tommee Tippee bottle set with steriliser and everything in and also being given a steriliser and bottle prep machine so I’ll see what there like. But again I have no experience on bottles haha

I never heard back from my doctors regarding having a UTI and I’ve been fine all week touch wood. Just keeping up with cranberry juice x

We always used Avent with the other 2, but brought Nuby this time. Morrisons had them selling pretty cheap so got them.

Thanks for the advice about clothing. It seems so obvious but until you've had a baby you have no idea what you need. I guess it's no issue to nip out and get stuff as and when I need. I keep imagining I'll be confined to the house for ages, not sure why. I guess it's because I saw those baby boxes with everything you need and figured that was a normal thing! The Finnish Moomin baby box is so cute but really expensive so I did consider making my own.

I'm not in the UK though so the summer for me will be really hot. As in, getting on for 50C (not looking forward to June being about to pop in that heat) but everything will be air-conditioned so once baby is here, if we do go outside in the early morning (still 30C at about 6am) baby will be in just a nappy and then I'll have to dress him up again to come inside into the ac! And then shopping centres he'll need a coat the ac is so chilly!

But speaking of not knowing what you need until you've done this before, I hadn't even started thinking about bottles! I guess I figured breastfeeding = don't have to think about it but I'll probably get some just incase I can't breastfeed or once my supply is good so I can pump and DH can feed. I think because I'm a nursery teacher he thinks he can get away with it being my job because 'i'll be so much better at it' but I'm not letting him off that easy!
