*** June 2015 Mummies ***

Totally off subject ladies but was just wondering, do you wash all the baby clothes you've bought before putting them on baby? Some people tell me I should wash everything, others say not to and I'm confused

I think you're supposed to wash everything. I haven't seen that on any "official" documentation but everyone seems to do it...I guess you don't know where it's been? x

Belfa, my friend threw her own shower. It was the first one I've ever been to and didn't think anything of it lol. She's in labour now actually, and I'm eagerly waiting to hear if baby is pink or blue! xx

I'll be washing everything, Emma. That's once I get my head round what this baby needs - I still have no clue! Am meeting my mum on Sunday for our monthly meet up so thankfully she'll be able to point me in the right direction.

Am I right in thinking sleepsuit all in one things for the first few weeks? What are the legless and armless things for? Do they go underneath? I am completely clueless, it's not even funny. I'm finding unisex clothes so meh!. xx

Emma - I'd wash everything just in case of chemicals and bacteria (you never know how many people have dropped an outfit on the floor then just kick it to the side!).

Belfa - I have looked into American visas (prior to my visit) and it looked like quite a tricky process. Also I would need to complete further training to work as a nurse over there which I don't think I want to do. Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East are our best bets I think. As for OBEM, there hasn't been a water birth yet during this series. Shame that no one is prepared to throw a shower for you - Are you sure they haven't organised one and been super sneaky about it?

Thanks guys. I was planning on doing so just because I love to see the little sleep suits on the washing line!
on the living abroad subject, my brother moved to Australia 3 years ago and hasn't looked back! His quality of life out there is amazing. He lives in Melbourne, is doing a similar job to what he was here but less stressful and gets paid almost 3 times as much for doing so!

I had a little giggle at this (sorry!) but mainly because I often feel the same way. The legless/armless things (vests) usually go under the Sleepsuits (although I didn't know this with my first and he just wore a sleepsuit with nothing but a nappy on underneath)

I also find unisex cloths blah but I like lots of colour so have been buying stuff that I deem unisex (lots of light greens, yellows, oranges and even some very light blues). Also helps that I am convinced this LO is a boy... But I may be eating those words in a couple of months!

That's amazing they're taking such good care of you Charlie. I know people moan about the nhs but they are amazing :)

It's APRIL!! Who else is going on maternity leave NEXT MONTH???! Cannot wait! Xx

Hadn't even occurred to me that my last day at work is a month today!! And im on easter hols at the mo so only 15 days left at work, that's flipping crazy!

Bethyboo don't worry, I actually had to sit down and list everything and then come up with an explanation as to what it was.

They are vests / bodysuits and go underneath everything - just like underwear. The most advice I have been given is to but lots of these as they are the first barrier against explosive nappies so you could go through a lot. Granted, at my last count I had 16 0-3 vests and that number has increased slightly and that's probably OTT .

Pismo i think the easiest way is to move with your employer (which is what my Uncle did) or there's a visa for setting up a new office for your business that is 2year visa but can give you a route to a green card. I still love watching "Wanted down under" and know that if I visited Australia I would definitely want to move. Not sure how I would feel about being so far away though?

I think my work colleagues will throw something in work for me as I did this for someone else but I would invite them to one outside of work. My DH mentioned it a couple of months ago actually as he see's my family in America throwing them all the time so maybe he's the key. If all else fails, I'll only micromanage any arrangements anyway so may as well throw my own ;) x

I kept DD in sleepsuits (mainly) for the first few months as I just think they're much more comfortable for them. I wouldn't dress them up at that age except for special occasions, there's plenty of time to dress them in 'big girl/boy' clothes.

I always wash everything with non-bio first too, again for at least a few months when their skin is more sensitive. DD is nearly 2 now so she wears stuff straight off the hanger, like me, but I know some adults who still wash stuff before they wear it.

On the topic of moving abroad it's something we'd love to do too. Ideally Italy would be first choice but France is more realistic as we know some basic French and it is nearer to the UK.

I spent 6 months in Australia.. If it wasn't for family I would have considered staying... Really appreciated the UK since I've been back though, we have some beautiful places, havent holidayed abroad in four years as love going to the Lake District, Pembrokeshire and other gorgeous places.

I always wanted (and still do) to travel for an extended period of time, I had DS very young and hope we will still get a chance later on in life once all the LO's have all grown up (I'll only be 45 when this one is 20!). However, there is so much of Britain that I have yet to see - For example I have never been any further north than the lake district and have only visited Wales once!

I think I would struggle to live in a none English speaking country - I am terrible at learning new languages. I can understand a fair amount of French but not enough to get by on my own if needed.

I'm in Pembrokeshire, absolutely love living here, it's beautiful. We're the same and have our breaks over here, means our doggie doesn't get left behind lol! We'd miss him too much if we went abroad, sad I know lol xx

Pismo I'll be 51 when this lo is 20! Still, we plan a bit more motorbike travelling in Europe. We had an amazing time when we went in 2012

I love travelling but have been lucky to visit places all over the world with my work... We tend to have uk holidays. Love the lakes, wanna go back sometime but we are planning a holiday abroad before I return to work.

Just had my whooping cough jab... Ouchies seriously hurt that did and nurse insisted on doing it in my left arm:shock:

I had my whooping cough jab Monday. I have the flu jab every year anyway, and blood tests are fine, but yes, this one hurt! My arm still aches when I lift it up. Nurse said to me, "I'll next see you with your 8 week baby for their jabs". I'm like, nooooo! You can't do that to my baby lol! xx

Do we all have to have whooping cough jab ladies?
I was never well enough to have flu jab one cold after another so they gave up on that one with me
X

You don't have to have it. I'm having all of the jabs offered but I know some people don't bother for one reason or another. xx

Ah ok hun thanks
I've not seen my midwife since 18 weeks and not due to see her till 13th for my check and anti d jab
Seems like ages away and ages since I last saw her x

That seems like quite a big gap between appointments Laura! x

Another one in the antiD club laura. Us June mummies must have the biggest group ever of us lol..
