*** June 2015 Mummies ***

Morning ladies and welcome Laura! Do we have a full house now? :)

Pismo Im signed off on sick so ive 5 weeks until my mat leave officially starts. Ive my lo to look after so that keeps me busy but I feel like ive loads to do. We took all the baby gear down from attic so my baby preparations will mostly be cleaning and washing. Have to wash all my neutrals clothing, bedding, car seat, bouncer seats playmat etc etc. Wishing for some nice dry weather to get it all out on the line.
Also nesting like mad...want to clean everything including carpets and sofas. Wish i had more energy for it all.

Also started to think about a hosp bag, start picking up bits like pads, nipple cream...all the glamorous stuff lol x

Anyone started looking at nurseries or other child care? I looked at 3 nurseries yesterday and going to another two today. Feels so early but have been advised to look between 9'mths and a year in advance and don't know when we'll next get the chance to look (both off this week). Scary times!! X

No I haven't, going to avoid it or use a childminder locally if necessary.

My pelvic pain is getting worse every day. I wish I could get signed off but I don't get proper sick pay :(

My husband and I are doing the shared parental leave until new year. After that we'll have a childminder as don't want nursery again.....I've got a couple of contacts but don't really want to think about it yet :(

Oh gosh not thinking about nursery yet. I'll be going back to work next July once my holiday leave is taken into account, so not thinking about it until xmas at the earliest!

Starting my ante natal classes tonight. Wonder what happens at them! My hubby will likely be traumatised.

Buggy that's horrible. Are you wearing a support belt? Taking any paracetamol? Both of those helped me. I am seeing a physio for it - doing really intense pelvic floor work which has made a huge difference.

Oh god love you buggy :( I am getting more achy now but i can still get around fine at the moment.

Just dragged OH round the shops buying lots of hospital bag essentials just in case my little boy proves the hospital right and comes early! Will hopefully have it all packed and ready this week. Scary!!

Also got some little sleeping bags, bins, towels and other bits for baby Hayden :) exciting!! Xx

Oh gosh buggy that's a real shame about the sick pay, is there anyway you can reduce what you do at work?

Colettey our parent craft classes are at the end of April. OH cant wait, I'm sure he's expecting something very different though. Got a DVD on breast feeding from the MW and he is all for watching it with me. What is it with men and breast feeding?

Charlie - What does the hospital expect regarding when you go into labour?

xx

It's 20 shifts for me, but lose at least 3 of those for midwife/antenatal classes etc..but having a date is the best thing!!

Here's hoping, hope you aren't feeling too rubbish, I'm going to start packing my hospital bag next week. I'm away this weekend so will need the bag but once home will start putting it together..then washing bits to put in it.

Glad some of you found that post funny, I love those kinda posts lol..

Hope your antenatal classes go well colettypie. I have a breast feeding workshop next week, though heard they are a bit weird. Doll and a tea cosy lol.. Then full day at start of May.

It's a bit mad, I'll prob have my new niece or nephew within 2-3 weeks.. Need to find them a pressie.

Hope everyone had a nice day, it's so windy here..

Because of my womb it's quite common to go into labour early. I really hope I don't because I'll have to have a emergency section then!

They have said they are hoping he will stay in until at least 34 weeks which seems only round the corner! There's nothing I can do except take it easy and they have said to watch out for any leaking waters, any pains or blood. I'm hoping he's gonna prove them wrong and stay snug for next 9.5 weeks until my section :) xx

Well my hospital bag is more or less ready! How scary! Just got to wash his clothes and get them ready to pack!

27 shifts left for me! I work 6 days a week tho :( on that note I better get myself ready for work! Boo hoo! Xx

I have my first antenatal class this weekend! Funny how you guys are a few weeks ahead but we're starting them at the same time, nothing like NHS consistency!

Had my Consultant appointment this morning. My Consultant must have been double booked as he called someone in at 9am but my appointment was at 9am - rude! Anyway, it was a bit like a midwife's appointment, they did my urine sample, bloods, BP and listened to baby's heartbeat. He agreed that I can be downgraded at 36weeks to midwife led if all was still okay so I could get a water birth. Have a midwife appointment next week too and know it will be a repeat of the same thing.

I asked about baby being breech and he said he doesn't care until 36weeks but he tried to check baby's position and then said "erm, I'm rubbish at this and usually scan" so he couldn't say for sure and has put "?breech" in my notes lol. He then asked me if I wanted a scan, I don't know if he meant there and then or not so I requested one at 36weeks to check baby's position so that's been booked for my first week of mat leave.

In other news I really thought I'd pee'd myself a little during the night . I did go and check and it was difficult to tell as I get so much cm. MUST to my pelvic floor exercises - I find it okay to get the muscles tight but really struggle to hold them for a full 10seconds?

My rogue boob was leaking in bed too again, does that mean I need to wear a bra and breast pad at night?! x

All the bits for my hospital bag are in one place so just need to reorganise.. Hubby keeps laughing at the size of my bag and if I will fill it up, lol..

Glad your consultant appointment went alright Belfa. I think I peed about 5 times last night, defo getting harder to stay comfy as more weight on my bladder.

Been a bit twingey today, wondering if it's BH. It only lasts a couple of seconds.

Is it just me or does anyone else, when they see the words 'pelvic floor' immediately squeeze off a few for good measure. I don't do them any other time though :)

Lucyboo - Could be BH, I've been having them on and off for a few weeks now. My whole stomach goes hard/tight then relaxes.

Charlie - Scary stuff. Fingers crossed your little man stays put until he is totally ready! How often are you seen by consultant/midwives? I'm guessing they want to keep a close eye on you?

Want to go to primark or asda to start filling up my hospital bag - couple of cheap nighties, pants and slippers etc.

x

Technically it isn't work that is the problem, it's looking after DD! As I work from home mostly in order to look after her. I get up to two weeks a year so may think about taking a week. I really hate my job at the moment anyway!

I tried taking paracetamol for a few days but I don't really want to be taking a lot of pills all the time, besides I find now they're making no difference. The doctor has prescribed me a low dose of cocodamol but again I don't want to be taking too much. I tried a support belt (tubi-grip thing) with my first pregnancy and I found it very uncomfortable and it was so tight it was a struggle to get on and off every time I have to pee, which is a lot!

Buggy I know how you feel about the taking of tablets whilst pregnant - Had a day or two of taking paracetamol every 4 hours but felt so guilty.

Maybe just use it when the pain is at its worse, or when you expect it to get worse (for example before getting up in the morning or just before you go out with LO). Will this pain go away once you've given birth? Or was this something you felt prior to pregnancy?

x

Yeah girls I'm not a fan of tablets either. Totally your own decision on it but my GP told me it is totally safe to take paracetamol during pregnancy and he was happy for me to do this if it meant taking 4 doses a day till the end of my pregnancy. I am sticking to 2 doses a day to get me through work and that seems to help enough.

Also buggy the support belt I am wearing from mothercare doesn't need to come on or off for the toilet. I wear under my pants. Only £12 from mothercare and is fairly comfortable for me to wear. Is this one here - http://www.mothercare.com/Blooming-Marvellous-Maternity-Support-Belt/LU3357,default,pd.html

Nothing worse than pelvis pain Tho, I totally sympathise. Mine has def got a lot better but has been a real effort and I'm not walking anywhere fast anytime soon!

Haha yes Belfa, does seem to be all over the place for NHS scotland stuff. I have a friend who is an early May mum doing the same class but the earlier slot tonight. So will see them on their way out as we go in! Hopefully isn't too overwhelming!

I'll have a look at that, thank you Colleteypie x

Pain is daily now :(

I know how you feel taking the tablets. I've struggled with these headaches for weeks and now have given in and am taking codeine and paracetamol ! I feel so guilty but I figure if I'm in pain and not sleeping it can't do baby any good.

I didn't take a single tablet when I was pregnant with DD but really struggling with this one. I know they say it's ok but I can't help but think it would be better not too. The pain is too much to bear though. If I could lie in bed all day I might cope better but life doesn't allow for that these days!
