Ladies... Breast pumps!

What is the best? Manual or electric? Most electric ones are like £100 and not sure we can afford that tbh, is it worth the money? Or are manual ones okay to use or a nightmare?

I bought a medela swing electric pump and loved it. I was pretty milky last time which is obviously the big help but I've heard electric ones are good for increasing supply. I pumped when ideas going to attempt a bottle at one point and then to fill the freezer for porridge etc and would get 5/6oz each time

really liked mine

Thanks GG! I really hope I can do this and you are absolutely spot on re independance. She is all "me do it" now so I guess that should also apply to sleeping alone right lol. Well I have 20 weeks to crack the code x

I had a hand pump and it did the job but hell it was hard work! Not buying another just now in case breastfeeding isn't going so well but if it is I am defo spending some money on an electric pump x Medela are supposed to be best x

Yeah I just worry as its so expensive. Maybe I will wait a bit to see how breastfeeding goes first or just get a manual one first of all and see how I get on x

Electric for sure manual are just not worth the effort. I think that's the pump I'm going for Shep. I got given the medela hospital grade one on loan from the hospital and it was amazing xx

Okay wtf is happening?
OH just said look at your top you've got a wet patch on your boob. Not wearing a bra and literally not been near anything. Look at my nipple and there's stuff coming out also massive wet patch on my top. Wtf is going on? Is it normal?

Normal Jem, just get some breast pads. Everyone's different with dd I was leaking colostrum early, with this one it started a little bit it's stopped now. At least you know your boobs work lol Xx

Morning ladies. Been up for hours with this hip. Not to mention dd has had no sleep, I don't know why so I'm in for it today with both of us being exhausted

So forgive the spam but I've had zero hours sleep and saw this. Don't know if any of you would want this for your hospital bag. May give it a go. Says you spray it on yourself to help with the pain, tearing, stitches, swelling etc after giving birth. You know, messed up vaginas and all that. Or section wounds. https://myexpertmidwife.com/collections/all/products/spritz-for-bits

Snow is a bit mad here. My cat hasn't come home and I'm sitting here waiting on him like he's my kid.

Also for those of you with an upstairs/downstairs, are you getting another crib/Moses basket for baby for downstairs. Or do you ave one? I bought the side crib but my Mum says get a Moses basket for downstairs, I was in a bungalow with dd so never really though about it before. Is that a waste of money or good idea? Anyway ramble over omg I'm so fking tired

Happy 22 weeks KHTW xx

i saw those sprays advertised shanivy and im definitely going to get one. funny the adverts that come up on Facebook when you're not looking haha.

sorry you've had another bad night. the wind has just woken me up, not looked to see how much snow there is yet bit judging by the wind there will be some pretty big drifts about. I get so worried about oh out in it on a quad. hope cat is home soon and found somewhere warm to sleep

Jem you're right the medela Is an expensive thing to buy if you're not sure you'll breastfeed but if you do I'd say it's well worth the money. you've all just reminded me though I will need a sterilizer after all. I figured I wouldn't even buy bottles this time and just boob it but if I do end up pumping for the freezer I'll need to sterilize the pump bits

anyone having major cravings? I realised yesterday that this last week I've spent £16 on raspberries! didn't quite realise just how much I'd been eating but God I love them atm! also really fancy battered fish and chips a lot but I'm being good there as when not pregnant fish and chips is one of the worst things for my ibs so I'm trying to avoid

oh and re the upstairs down stairs things, have you considered something like a paddle pod? would take up a bit less space down stairs or depending on your pushchair just use the carrycot from that. our cottage is all one level but even though the living room is right next to the bedroom I'll still use the Moses basket in the living room but that's just because I've got the Moses basket

Oh Shan, you poor thing! I hope physio can sort your hip quickly, you need the sleep! Maybe you and DD can have a nice nap this afternoon, to catch up on sleep? Is your cat back home now?? Mine is indoor and looks out of the window probably thanking some cat's god for not being allowed outside :D
Thanks for the link, I will be buying that for sure, anything that can help heal quicker!

For upstairs we will have a crib in our bedroom, bouncy chair or swing in DD's room, and a small travel cot with newborn insert for downstairs. It is a bit of a pain to have a cot downstairs but I can trust DD not to touch/feed/lift the baby so I need the little one to be high enough off the ground for naps and if I want to go to toilet etc. Plus side - the cot has a changing table so it should make it easier for my back x

Jem I can see how this would freak you out! I never leaked with DD and not leaking yet with this one x

22 weeks today!! WOW!

Ughhh my pipes are frozen, water wont go down drains. We had horrible weather overnight, looks like a blizzard out. Not as bad as scotland but never had frozen pipes lol.
Jem normal i had abit of leakage with dd at the end not this early haha just wash your nipples regular aha, mine used to leak at night and by mornkng had gone hard, had to pick it out eww tmi haha.
Happy 22 weeks KH x

I never leaked with DD either, just woke up with the littlest bit of crust sometimes

aw no PB have you got the pipes sorted? there's loads of tips on Facebook atm

well the dog has been put for a wee (one is inside on bed rest due to injury atm) the washing machine and dishwasher are on so DD and I are now locked in the living room with the fire going, lots of dvds and books and snacks. I feel like today is going to be a hard day though she's starting to get cabin fever. we're also on out last 1/2 roll of toilet paper haha good job I stocked up on baby wipes. going to have to limit the hot chocolates today though and make the milk stretch a couple more days

Happy 22 weeks KH.

Shan, sounds like a bit of a shit night for you..hope you manage to both get some good naps in today.

I did the horses really late last night so that I didn't have to be up super early as something just told me to rest, so I'm off to top up hay and water now. Wondering what is in store for us all weather wise over the next 48 hours xx

Shep, being closed in the living room with snacks, DVDs and books sounds wonderful to me lol. Take DD outside for a few minutes, let her run around the snow and that should have her sorted for the day :D x

BP, frozen pipes are a nightmare!!! Hope you manage to get them sorted x

I am currently at work watching the blizzard outside! Hope the work will let us go home after lunch #yeahright! May post some pic x

My staffy hatea the snow, never seen her wee and poop so fast and ran staright back in ahaha. My rottie cross lovesssss it comes in with snow over her face aha.
Spunda amazing Shep, ive ran outta logs, been burning carboard and stuff we need to take tip. Heating isnt doing muxh tbh.
Oh gg hope weather isnt bad near you doing all that!
Hubby had a glass of wine last night, all i can smell. Super smell is back aha.

I've been trying not too have the heating on all day long, I burned some of the baby clothes that were stained and thankfully my husband was a star and really filled the log cupboard last Sunday. heating is going on for a few hours now though before husband comes in for lunch

Yes had a ton bag of really well seasoned ash delivered on Tuesday which is down the yard. Me and Dan brought a load up that night and still have some of that left but I can easily top up with the wheelbarrow or my car when he gets home in it.

I'm not really sure what to do about the pub. Will see how the roads look and play it by ear I think.
