*~* February 2017 yummy mummies - the last trimester *~*

My little dude is a raver, sleeps all day and is up all night! On the plus side we can spend lots of time with the oldest while he's sleeping then when he goes to bed bubs wakes up!!!

Sheena, just to repeat what the others have said about that being completley normal. It wont last forever but I know how overwhelming it can be when they don't settle. Sometimes it might be a bit of trapped wind and doing cycle motions with their legs can help a bit. As can placing a little wedge like a book under the top of their mattress to help elevate them as some babies hate being totally flat on their backs. I've invested in a sleepyhead mattress this time round and it seems to be helping loads with the settling but we're only 6 days in and it can all change.
Has your milk come in? I found this time round my milk came in on day 2 but it wasn't until day 4 where she seemed to really be getting enough to settle in her crib for a little while. Also Im not sure how you're alternating each breast but I try and get her to stay with one side for as long as possible e.g. if she feeds for 15 mins then srops and nods off, i burp her, hold her for a bit then try and get her to latch on to the same side for another 15 or so min feed. I do this for max an hour and then see if she wants the other side. This way I know she's getting a lot of the hind milk rather than a lot of the watery milk which can sometimes make them a bit gassy and unsettled. It sounds like a long process but then she goes 3-4 hours before the next feed.
Obviously thats what works for me and might not work for you guys at all but thought Id share just in case.

Lura, good luck with the appt today. Glad all was well with the trace kimmy! I still miss being pregnant. Its like christmas day, you look forward to it for ages, love it when its here but then miss it when its gone. Obviously pregnancy has a much better present at the end!

Thanks babybee, this is really good advice. My milk came in yesterday properly and he has settled better so far. Think I need keep trying to feed him even after he stops so just wait it out until he cues again. I have been using nipple cream as they hurt so much already. his latch seems ok but he has a growth in his mouth that i need to get the dentist to check at 2-3 months, think it's this that's hurting me.

Oh Tigeress, how annoying! Especially when you've not had anything!

My hospital have put me on an enhanced recovery programme, meaning the catheter comes out sooner, I can get up quicker and come home the next day. Not too sure how I'll feel about that at the time! It also means I have to go to a one hour group workshop next Tuesday and I'll get all my pre-meds there etc.

Thanks for a lovely comment Laura - can I ask you when you had your section how was the spinal and how long were you numb for? Also, is there anything else I will need that I haven't thought about when planning for a natural birth?

My spinal was absolutely fine and no issues. I can't remember how long I was numb but was up and about the same day. Try and move as much as possible as that helps recover (don't overdo it though) and big knickers for over the scar. I took arnica but no idea if it made a difference or not. You will have a lovely calm experience x

Wow massive congrats to all the ladies!!

I'm still here - 38 weeks Monday and feeling huge and uncomfortable and full of cold. Still hoping to attempt a vbac so potentially im going to be here for ages too :(

Let's hope for nice early babies! They did warn me I may need to give myself time and probably go over :( how many sections have you had?

Saying that I've got a horrid cough and cold so can't face labour yet!!

Ive had the one that was an emergency so didnt want to have another unless I actually medically needed to have one. How about you?

I'm still here. Not much of an active poster but I've been reading :)

Mine was a planned for breech so I've never laboured before. I'll be like a first time so it could end up long which will scupper my chances

Hey ladies,

4 days left for me! So uncomfy and don't seen to sleep at night until 5/6 in morning then will wake around half 11/12.. driving me bonkers. Thursday morning we will have to be up at 5 and out the door at 6 to get to the hospital on time.. I pretty much doubt I'll sleep that night either. Even hubby is struggling to sleep now must be the nerves and excitement lol xxx

Wow! 4 days left huh? That's really exciting! How are you feeling besides tired? I bet you're really excited! Makes me even more excited for September haha.

Hopefully, you get some well needed rest before you go to the hospital.

I can relate with feeling nervous and excited at the same time. It's how I'm feeling. And, yeah I hope September comes fast I can't wait to meet my little peanut :D

Ahh, can't believe it has started already I'm still not due for another 2 weeks but yesterday we had 2 phone calls to see if anything was happening! Like we wouldn't tell our family if he had arrived! I can't put up with that for another possibly 4 weeks if I go right over!

I keep getting really strong Braxton hicks so I'm hoping my body is beginning to prepare, I had to be induced last time so my body hasn't gone without intervention before but with the pessary my waters broke then contractions started but I didn't get any show or anything like that so I keep wondering how it will all start this time.

Eek, exciting that at least one more baby will be here this week.

I think I'm going to get some evening primrose oil today to start then I am doing everything I can to encourage him and potentially make labour a bit easier.

Lets hope its your body gearing up for things kimmy!

I am like you never gone into labour on my own, so not entirely sure what Im meant to be looking out for. I seem to have had no twinges or anything. Going to take my little girl to the park today, hoping a nice little walk might spur on something... anything haha.

2 more days for me ladies.. getting to the crunch. Having some bloods done today for the op, make sure everything ok.. mum and dad arriving tomorrow. Feeling very strange now, majority excited and majority nervous at the same time!
Keep getting Braxton hicks on and off each night, makes me wonder if I had gone into normal Labour when she would of arrived..
Everything is ready, (I think!) Just going to spend today and tomorrow going over housework and making dinners for when I'm in hospital (mums helping). Won't have internet whilst I'm in hospital so won't be able to update til I'm home! Which is gonna kill me lol!! Xx

Its all so exciting for you ladies! Cant wait to hear all the updates!xxx

Getting so close now tigeress, you sound very prepared and ready! Can't wait to hear news once your home!

Lura, hope you get some twinges and signs soon! I went for a walk in the woods up and down the hills today as walking round the town on Sunday and to the duck pond yesterday didn't seem to do anything!

Good luck to everyone still waiting we are already a week into Feb now it's just flying still!

Hope all is going well babybee and everyone else who has had their babies!

How exciting Tigeress! Bet you feel ready to meet little one.. good luck!

39 weeks today! Went for my walk but didnt do much but gave me backache later on in the evening haha. Ive never been pregnant passed 38 weeks so all this is new to me.

Are you doing anything kimmy to try spur on labour?

I am so impatient lura I am drinking raspberry leaf tea and taking/ inserting evening primrose oil and rotating on my ball for at least 40 mins every night, all are supposed to help with ripening the cervix rather than induce labour but like to feel like I'm doing something to help it along, other than that I am trying to carry on as normal which is pretty easy with a 17 month old and 2 dogs that still need everything so that time doesn't slow down and hopefully baby will be here before we know it.
