*~* February 2017 yummy mummies - the last trimester *~*

Pinkbunny, I did the enhanced recovery thing twice now and still not totally sure of the point of it all. The catheter comes out as soon as you're able to stand and take a few steps. You can go home within 24 hours so long as youre feeling up for it. So its basically like any other c section.
If its any help, my section on Sat was semi planned and the spinal took around 20 mins but it was the combined one with the epidural so they could top up any drugs. Then anesthetic wore off about an hour into the recovery and then they top you up with codeine, nurofen and paracetamol. Pack nighties with buttons so you can hobble about and wee easily without pulling down trousers but also have buttons for easy breastfeeding access. Also pack big granny pants and have nothing that will rub on your scar.

Nic, what day are you now? Im day 4 post section and feeling a lot better but im keeping up with the pain relief and walking around a lot!

I hope everyones doing ok!x

Oh also Pinkbunny, it probably took about 3-4hours for my legs to lose all the numbness.x

Thanks ladies, and nope, I went without for 12 hours! I thought I was dying lol. I have never downed a pint of water so quick in my life and also bought three drinks from the vending machine on the way home! Lol. And stopped at kfc..no did want a mcdonalds breakfast but had missed it, I was gutted. I got home just before partner left for work and he couldn't believe all the drinks I had on me. He was laughing and so was I, I didn't realise til he mentioned it. I have been constantly thirsty, dehydrated which I think is why the test was also booked. But few days after they arranged the c section.

Can't believe she will be here in 8 days!!! I'm shitting myself now! Xxx

Wonderful bump lura!!! Xxx

Babybee I had the section at 3.40am yesterday morning. The catheter came out really quick and that was after an emergency section. I'm finding today really painful (day 2). Hoping each day will be better and hoping to go home tomorrow

Lura, gorgeous bump! I miss mine so much. I always said this was my last but not so sure now.

Nic you've done really well hun. Each day does get better, just stay on top of the meds and take it really easy. I was in hospital for 2 nights in total and was so ready to go home by the end of it.
Ive showed my girls the dressing and explained how they have to be really gentle and they've been really good about it.
I hope you have a good night chick.x

Hoping tomorrow is a less painful day for you nic xx

Thank you ladies your very kind.

Hope you feel better soon Nic. The pain does get easier and I found the best recovery afterwards was try to keep mobile as you can and the meds. Take care. Xx

I've just got home about an hour ago and it's really painful. I'm guessing it's just because of the journey home and am struggling to find somewhere comfortable to sit.

Just waiting for my son to get back from school and surprise him s he doesn't know I'm home!!

Thank you babybee, that's really reassuring. I'm bricking it about the soreness after but she will be worth it.

Lura your bump looks just like mine lol

Nic I hope you start to feel less sore soon and that you had a lovely reunion with your son!

Xx

Nic I hope you had a lovely moment with your son! I found it hard to get comfortable at home too.

I don't really like posting pics and details of my kids on a public forum but Ive updated my profile pic to a pic of my latest little lady if anyone wanted to see.
I also never did her birth story but it's actually quite boring.....

They wanted her delivered due to a couple of bad traces so we were booked in for a section that afternoon. All the prep went well and we used our go pro to video diary the whole experience- nothing gory though but we captured her being lifted over the curtain so I was really happy! The only hiccup was that my anesthesia started to wear off just before they delivered baby A! It was such a horrible feeling and I was almost sick with pain. Luckily I had the combined epidural with another form of spinal and they remedied it all very quickly. I was so certain it was a boy and was gobsmacked when we saw it was our 3rd daughter. Gobsmacked but over the moon. Hubby got to cut the cord and watch her being cleaned up. I got skin to skin and the first feed whilst they were stitching me up. Then after that it was mostly a plain sailing.
A stressful moment during our stay in hospital was that she failed her newborn hearing test so we've been referred to an audiology department for further testing. However as the days have gone by she seems to be responding more and more to noises so hopefully its just a build up of gunk/fluid.
She's now 5 days old and is slowly regaining her birth weight after a 8% loss.
That's pretty much it!

Hi ladies! So things didn't go to plan for me either and I am now a Jan mummy as I gave birth on Monday, 1 week before my due date. Waters went Sunday morning and I went in at 7pm. I had some meconium in my waters so had to go straight to high risk. Had a natural birth but did have to go for the epidural when my contractions were unbearable. However what I didn't know was that my hospital don't administer full epi's, I didn't feel the pain of the contractions but when it came to pushing stage I felt it all!! Really wasn't expecting that.

Baby boy was a little reluctant to come out and I needed intervention, they used a ventouse and I needed an episiotomy. He also had his cord around his neck poor thing. I have had internal and external stitches, when I asked how many the doc said they don't count. The only pain relief I've been informed I can take is paracetamol!!!

I was discharged the next day and am now trying to settle the little man. I am totally in love and going through all our firsts. As a first time mummy you tube has been my friend! We are on day 4 now and hardly slept as baby won't sleep in his crib, just wants to be on our chest. He keeps flexing his arms and legs and then starts to cry, foes anyone have any advice? We've tried swaddling but he wriggles out. Have ordered a swaddle type thing and it arrives tomorrow.

Huge congratulations Sheena!! You must be over the moon.
As for the not settling thing, its so normal! I find i have to make sure my baby is totally tanked up on milk and burped loads before she'll settle in her crib.x

Congrats to you too! 3 girls!! Wow!!

I have had a good day in terms of him latching on but I'm not sure how much he's getting. Most I've managed is 20 mins on each side.

When I put him in the crib he lasts 5 mins of that. My sister said the arms and legs movements are because he was traumatised during the delivery. He hardly sleeps, longest has been 30 mins.

Congrats Sheena!! Congratulations on your little boy! It can be quite normal for babies to feel like that at the moment, they are used to be nice and cosy in your womb and thr sound of heartbeat so when put down it can feel a huge space for them.

Aww babybee she is so cute!! Sounds quite a nice birth story for you and you sound like your recovering well.

Getting so jealous of you Mummies, Im gunna be here until end of Feb at this rate haha! Going my 38 week appt with the MW this afternoon.

Congratulations Sheena on a lovely boy, unfortunately as the other girls have said newborns don't generally like sleeping alone, they have been snuggled in the womb with all kinds of sounds and now the big wide world is so different but he will get the hang of it and it only gets easier.

Lovely story babybee sorry to hear about the hearing but glad it seems to be improving/ resolving.

I'm still here in the long waiting game, I had my scan and trace all on Wednesday instead as had reduced movements but all was fine in the end, I had to stay on the monitor a little longer than normal but they were happy in the end and all measurements completely normal now with him being estimated on the 46th centile.

Starting to feel uncomfortable now which I hope is a good sign but over analysing every thing already is driving me mad! Have been on my ball every evening to try encourage him. I don't have the midwife until 13th now which seems ages away!!

Hope all goes well today Lura!

Sheena, just to repeat what the others have said about that being completley normal. It wont last forever but I know how overwhelming it can be when they don't settle. Sometimes it might be a bit of trapped wind and doing cycle motions with their legs can help a bit. As can placing a little wedge like a book under the top of their mattress to help elevate them as some babies hate being totally flat on their backs. I've invested in a sleepyhead mattress this time round and it seems to be helping loads with the settling but we're only 6 days in and it can all change.
Has your milk come in? I found this time round my milk came in on day 2 but it wasn't until day 4 where she seemed to really be getting enough to settle in her crib for a little while. Also Im not sure how you're alternating each breast but I try and get her to stay with one side for as long as possible e.g. if she feeds for 15 mins then srops and nods off, i burp her, hold her for a bit then try and get her to latch on to the same side for another 15 or so min feed. I do this for max an hour and then see if she wants the other side. This way I know she's getting a lot of the hind milk rather than a lot of the watery milk which can sometimes make them a bit gassy and unsettled. It sounds like a long process but then she goes 3-4 hours before the next feed.
Obviously thats what works for me and might not work for you guys at all but thought Id share just in case.

Lura, good luck with the appt today. Glad all was well with the trace kimmy! I still miss being pregnant. Its like christmas day, you look forward to it for ages, love it when its here but then miss it when its gone. Obviously pregnancy has a much better present at the end!

Congratulations Sheena, so pleased for you! I hope he starts to settle better soon.

My sleep is getting so messed up at the moment, I'm struggling to turn over in the night because of the weight of my belly and I'm just not comfortable, especially with her big head wedged in my right rib!! So I am not sleeping that well at all and I am shattered! My hubby keeps telling me I should be nesting and to start getting some energy and doing stuff but I'm just not feeling it at the moment - I just want to be lazy and not do anything at all :(

1 week to go, eek! I still haven't got everything I need but our car has broken down and I live up a really steep hill so I'm not going out much, hopefully our car will be back this weekend so I can get out shopping! Only thing left are things I need to go out to get so can't even order online. Fun and games eh?!

All good at the MW today! See my consultant now at 40+1 weeks for a sweep and they will book me for an induction too (12 days they let you go overdue, that will take me until the end of Feb ughh!)
MW is on holiday in 2 weeks when Im meant to see her so she booked me in for 3 weeks, I will be 41+2 then. Lets hope I will have given birth before then!
