*****August 2014 Mummies*****

Wenchy hope you find those shields, wracking brains to see if I saw them at our tescos when I was in baby aisle last week! Hope he latches soon.

Haven't posted on here in a while as not much going on. Tonight however I've had sudden loose bowels, dull back pain and painful braxton hicks, so looks like body is getting ready for action. Thinking I could be like this for weeks yet though going by others experiences.

Went to Jamie's Italian tonight as we had vouchers to use up from Xmas and wanted a last meal out. Walked to train station to meet OH in town after work, nearly passed out on the walk, so hot! Was really disappointed by the food, could have made a better spag Bol myself. We'll have to have a curry night next week to make up for it and to encourage bubs to arrive.

Lying on bed in heat despite open windows and fan, wondering if I'll sleep tonight!

Promising signs Kaffee! Have u had your 39 week mw appt yet? Or do u not have one til 40 weeks now?...... I've got mw tomorrow at 2.30- had quite bad period pains for 2 days now, some sharp pains down low and some more intense braxton hicks as well as a loss of some mucus plug......still think they will tell me the head is free and I will be waiting 3 more weeks :-/ Oh well!! Will update tomorrow!
Hope things keep progressing for u!
Shame about your meal out- how disappointing! Have a really tasty curry next week instead eh?!

I'm just lying here trying to get comfy and cool! Already dozed off on the sofa earlier tonight! Def seem to be getting slower at everything and more tired!
Hope I get some sleep hun xxx

Ooh sounds like we're at the same stage. I got some snotty discharge last night which I assume is a bit of plug coming away. No 39wk appt, see MW next weds at 40wks, undecided whether to have a sweep or not - how about you, will you have one?

You never know you could be on your way, but I guess better to mentally prepare yourself for a wait.

Sounds like things are progressing for you both. :)

Fed Cai expressed milk at 4:30am then thought to hell with it, im going shopping lol So popped off to tesco at 5am (much better than waiting till OH left for work and juggling the two LO's) So weekly shop all done and OH just left for work. Cuppa tea for me :)

Got Nipple Shields :) (Tesco had them) Excited to try them but Cai usually sleeps a little longer at this time of morning.

I dread to think how you ladies are coping with the heat at night! Its killing me! Room is at 25.6 degrees, Cai has no blankets, a thin babygrow, window open and fan on!

Any plans today? Taylor needs fitted for new shoes so off to shoe shop later. Toddler shoes are so expensive at Clarks, we have a Brantano shoe store nearby, wonder if they do toddler fittings and sizes, or best to stick to Clarks? Might have a looky before we go to Clarks.

Have a good day ladies and weekend.

xxx

Brantano do toddler shoes Hun so it's worth going for a look :-)

Shattered this morning had really awful period pain and braxton hicks during the night and just couldn't sleep at all. Had enough now and still got 4 weeks to go

Brantano sell Clark's hun as well as other toddler shoes but they aren't width fitted. We buy brantano usually now as can't keep up with the cost of Clark's!.... Good luck with nipple shields!

Kaffee- not sure they will offer a sweep until 41 weeks here? Will ask today. Undecided really- don't want the disappointment of being told they can't even reach my cervix (this happened each time they tried with my first pregnancy and its gutting!) Will c how I feel nearer the time!

Mrsm- its crap with the period pains and BH's I know but we hot to try and c it as positive and our bodies doing something I guess! Hang in there xx

Yep :) Got a pair of sketchers shoes and pair of OshKosh B'gosh trainers for £12 in the sale. Taylor has wide feet so went for the widest ones I could see and tried them.

Nipple shields seemed fantastic at first, he def latched with them and was sucking away like mad, but I wasn't certain I could see/hear him swallowing. But there was no screaming or pushing away and the reservoir was filled with milk. After 20mins I offered him expressed in a bottle and he still took 50 ml....my boob felt quite empty but still pumped 90 ml from that side afterward so not too sure if he was just using it as a soother. When I 1st offered him the bottle he turned back toward the boob, so good signs. Just keep trying.

I really don't miss the BH and pains and sleeplessness. It must be even worse in this crazy heat! Not long now for you ladies :) x

Keep at it wenchy, least he's getting breast milk in some way, better than none. I'm sure you'll get there with him. Dreading the feeding part. had boob reduction many years ago, so not even sure if I'll work properly let alone get the right latch etc!!

Making bunting for nursery this afternoon, something to do inside on a hot day - feel like a recluse, as all the curtains are closed to keep heat out - much cooler though.

Same, put up a thin dark voile in the living room window and have it closed with windows open. Both LO's down to nothing but nappies! And been munching on ice poles and choc ices...yummy :)

Wasnt watching the time and Cai slept 5 hours oops. Woke him and tried again with shield...again he seemed to be latched and was def getting milk as I could see it when I took him off to adjust the shield. But he then took 100ml expressed bottle and I pumped 110ml from that side afterwards. So frustrating as he seems to be latching and feeding but he cant be getting much if he then takes 100ml bottle. Been using varie flow teats so switched them all to slow flow to try make him work a little harder getting the milk from the bottle.

So sleepy today. Going to try catch a few ZZZZ's if Taylor has an afternoon nap (prays he does) x

Hi gang!

Wenchy- bargain re shoes and all sounds positive for a first go with nipple shields! Hope it continues to go well!

Midwife went well- she said baby is v low (2/5ths engaged which in my notes means head is mostly below the brim). All checks were fine and measuring fine. She said my period pains etc all sounded like body was gearing up for something and was generally v nice and supportive about everything! Plan from here on is to b seen weekly and they offer a sweep on day unit at 40+10 and then induction at 42 weeks. So at least I know plan from here until the end now!
Had more low down pressure and pains since coming home! Hope he doesn't bob back up again now!..... Only thing is he is lying side on so I need to keep going with all fours and leaning forward etc to try and make sure he doesn't go OP!! Xx

Things seem to be moving along with you all girls :) very encouraging ! I am still loosing my posts so will be brief but been reading it as and when baby let's me :) Kaffee, I did delivery in the labour ward I work in btw as you asked on my labour thread. Lots of labour dust to you all xx

Kaffee, I did delivery in the labour ward I work in btw as you asked on my labour thread.

Hee hee I can't imagine that, but must have been good to know everyone and be very familiar with the place, were you tempted to tell them what to do?

Hope little Isla is doing well and settling in with family. X

I did make very clear what i wanted them to do lol but was very comforting to know people, room, equipment etc it was a brilliant birth experience !
I hope you get going soon, i cant wait to see the labour threads popping up fir August mummies x

rant alert!
so after finding out baby is head down and in a good position at my scan yesterday i put on my fb that id been for a long walk, bounced on my gym ball and had been getting lots of pressure and Braxton hicks!
now in getting people saying to me but you still have over 2 weeks till your due be careful! Erm I'm 37 weeks which means full term in at a safe point my body was doing alot of it anyway i cant get comfortable and even my consultant was encouraging me when he seen me having tightenings and told me my baby is running out of room but is happy and wriggling around!
if he was bum down they would have taken him out next week anyway!
hes only going to come when he wants too whether in walking or bouncing on a ball or not so what does it matter :(
sorry guys just needed to vent a bit, feel like cause in a young wife they think i don't know anything! Half the things ive done are because I'm restless, uncomfortable or not coping so I'm not doing anything my body isn't telling mw too really! Xx

Zoe, ignore them people always like to offer opinions (which are just that) if you'd have said "I'm in no hurry to have baby" they'd have said "it's not safe, increased risk of stillbirth blah, blah, blah", people just like to impart their so called wisdom!!

Good to hear things are starting to get going for you and baby is in right position though.

No more progress for me, just more achey tightenings and a bit more plug, no poops or backache since Thursday.

Have a poorly man at mo, he's having bad tummy pains from his colon probs. I'm being sympathetic, but hoping he's better before he has to help me through mine. he's conceded that his are prob one tenth of the pain I'll go through, so for once isn't making too much of a man fuss!

I know kaffee I'm gunna stop posting about pregnancy full stop on my facebook now sick of the hell I get for it ! Only do it because aboth mine and OH family live quite far away so it's easy way for everyone to know what's happening! Half the time it's OH family that give me he'll for it all!!
Guarantee in less than a week people will start posting and asking stuff because I've stopped! We shall see just irritated with judgmental crap!!

Hope things get going for you soon Hun I'm fed up so I can't imagine how you must feel at 39 weeks probably not helping with you man not being well either xx

Oh Zoe- I am totally with u on how crap it is when other people just can't stop trying to tell u what's best- when u haven't asked for their advice!! Completely winds me up!!....... The next thing will b all the 'have u had the baby yet' texts and msgs which drove me round the bend last time!!.... Just ignore them like Kaffee said! U r only trying to keep your families informed like u say! Your consultant is encouraging u with trying to get things moving- what more do u need?!! Its probably a case of he's in a good position now- let's keep him there and get him out!! I guess they all don't understand that!! Grrr! Feel for u hun *hugs*

Kaffee- sorry your OH isn't feeling great! Hope this is short lived so he's in full support mode for your labour! R u just having him as a birthing partner or someone else too?? We r allowed 2 people at the hospital so my mum is a back up but chances r it will just be OH as mum will look after Ethan!
My cramps eased off Friday morning too- just more pressure and those sharp low down pains after I saw mw. I know this stop/start business can carry on for a while :-/
Come on babies! Us mummies can't wait too much longer!!!

Hope u all have nice weekends :-)

I'm kinda glad its not just me that's finds it annoying :/ as if id do anything to put my baby at risk after everything we went through last year! Most people i know have had there babies about 37-38 weeks this year and i was born at 37 weeks, OH was born at 38 weeks. The way these people are going on you would think i was commiting a crime!
nevermind I'll be ok once i calm down x
sounds like your getting the same as me mum2b lots of cramping and pressure lower back pain!
took dog for a walk yesterday and a walk that normally take 30 minutes took us nearly an hour and a half cause i was getting so much pressure on and off xxx
these babies defo need to hurry up! Ha so impatient! Xx

I'm looking at boots baby clothes and they say 3.4 - 4.5kg are these new born or tiny baby?
