Hi,
I thought I'd start a weight loss thread for those of us who need to lose some weight while/before TTC. I've just weighed myself for the first time in ages and to my horror I've put on a lot and need to lose 11lbs. So so gutted.

Am going to start by ditching sugar and chocolate completely as well as crisps and starch in general. Really hoping to do this quickly. So difficult to give up yummy things in the winter!

Anyone else having to lose weight and want to give each other some moral support?

I love this idea Sunflower. I'm looking to eat healthier and seeing weight loss as a bonus if it happens!

Hi what a great idea I need to lose around 10 pounds as well. Let’s stop eating sugar and keep each other motivated

Oh I'm really glad I'm not alone - it's going to be really hard. Am weaning myself off sugar over the next few days and going back to mainly protein, veg and pulses.

I'm hoping to lose some weight too, I've lost 13lbs so far since Jan, would ideally like to lose another 17lbs, but if I get PG first I wont mind ;)

I'm 7lbs away from my start weight with my first pregnancy (DD is 5 now), just have to be careful what I eat next time around - I gained 47lbs with my first (she only weighed 6lbs 9oz) :booboo:

I'm starting to try in July and have 13lbs to lose, that is very do-able before we start trying I know... however I have been struggling with losing recently. I am doing slimming world but have had plenty of days off due to different events and plans out etc and my weight loss is usually slow anyway.

I would love to have lost the 13lbs by my Birthday in May, we also go on a cruise in July so would be great to be at my target weight before then (as I know I won't be at it after haha)

How are we all doing? Is anyone else here a vegetarian? Desperately trying to up my protein intake this week as I've noticed I'm probably not getting enough :?

No, I used to be veggie. I'm managing to avoid chocolate and most starch but think I'm gonna go back on a serious low carb diet once the weather warms up - about 30g of carbs a day. I lost half a stone a month before doing that.

Definitely good to up your protein - pulses are good. A lot of veggies think sheese is a good protein source but I'm not sure that's true.

Sounds like a few of us have around a stone to lose. How do you find slimming world? Does it work?

That's awesome that you've lost so much. What method are you using?

I love slimming world, I lose just over two stone on it before and maintained it for a year. I then ran a marathon and had some personal things going on and lost it, I ended up gaining all the weight again. I have already lost over half the weight but struggling with the last stone... that's not slimming worlds fault though I know I'm not sticking to it. I'm being good for 5 or 6 days a week and then kind of having a blow out, just due to different events. Some weeks I'm still losing it depends how bad my blow out is.

It's so hard to keep it going isn't it? I try and have some kind of treat even if it's a dairy and sugar free cocoa every day.

Yes I have my treats every evening. I've just had so many events on recently and I want to be able to go out with friends without worrying about what I'm eating or drinking. I think as long as I don't gain anymore weight I will be happy enough, although like I say I would rather lose more. If by Spring I'm still around this weight I will have to really have a word with myself and start sticking to it more strictly.

Hopefully the next few weeks should be easier for me as we don't have any big plans

I'm just watching what I eat, previously I was eating A LOT of junk, even though it gave me heartburn and caused IBS, but now I'm listening more to my body and watching my intake!

I have lost around a stone recently, don't NEED to lose anymore but am slipping back into bad habits and can feel that I am gaining again tho haven't been on the scales. I seem to go between eating way too much chocolate, wine, crisps etc to massively restricting hand surviving on 500 calories for weeks. Following this thread in hopes of inspiration to eat healthy and not gain but not lose if that makes sense xx

Hi Fluffycat,

I got back into the chocolate and crisps too! They are soooo addictive. I was eating half a bar of dark chocolate a day! I've stopped them now...it's so hard. I had to go to zero because if I have any, I want more!

Good luck....keep us updated. You can do it!

I think it's so much easier to lose it in spring and summer. Hope you can get a start on eating better without all the events. x

It's hard getting the right balance isn't it fluffycat.
We'll get there though.

I really want to watch when I get pregnant again as well as I piled on weight with my son. Although I was eating a ridiculous amount then so even if I gain a little next time it shouldn't be as bad as it was then

Junk food is so addictive...it should make a big difference giving that up. x

It's my 30th in May so would be nice if I were a good way to being at my target if not already there
