The New IVF/IUI Thread - 5BFPs!

I'm after some advice ladies..... I called the clinic last week one the 1st day of AF as directed and our apt is with the nurse can anybody tell me what to expect? Will they scan me. I am doing the antagonist protocol.
Any advice is much appreciated

I've just done antagonist protocol, felt much easier than long. You'll be scanned and possibly bloods taken then told wether to start your other injections if you haven't already. Good luck

Tinkerbell, how did ec on monday go? Hope all was ok? I think id be tempted to go with lead two embies back on day 3 tbh!! And any frozen a bonus, much better back in mum, just my petsonal view after having only one from 6 good embies making it to a full blasto but on day six and really not as hot then!!

We got 6 fertilised out of 8 mature so not as great as last time but hoping its quality over quantity. They'll be calling again tomorrow to update and possibly go in for transfer, we still feel so unsure what to do and don't want to make the wrong choice and live to regret it. I think ATM we have in our mind that if they say we have one or two great tomorrow and the rest slightly behind or only good then I'll go in tomorrow and transfer 2 but if they all look the same then hold off till day 5 again and hope history doesn't repeat itself. This has to be one of the hardest decision we've ever had to make, along with shall we put 1 or 2 back and hope that if we end up with twins my health can take it.

Tinks, that's fab. I wonder if with our last cycle it was getting less eggs that gave better quality - We had just 3 embryos but clearly something was better...I hope the same works for you

You have to go with your heart. There's so many unknowns with it all that you'll never know if what you did made a difference, but you'll know you did your best

You're so right scotch, I think the only way is to follow our hearts and hope for the best unless of course Hammersmith insist on it being up to them.
I feel physically so different this time though, I had no pain or discomfort for egg collection (12 eggs collected) last time I was in so much discomfort for about 3-4 days after EC, I'm hoping this is all a good thing and my body feels under less strain

i think it's the kisspeptin - stopping you swelling up and such as much afterwards. it was a much more comfortable cycle for me too. I think that can only have a positive outcome for your body. I think it made so much difference to us.

I'd listen to their advice and ask their opinion, but at the end of the day go with what feels right once you've done that. I know they're not great with phone calls, but I assume you have Ali on the end of the phone - he'll get a decent answer for you from Anna Carby or an embryologist if you ask him the question

lol Gemma, certainly feels like that to me too!

My test day is supposed to be Saturday. I'm on AF-watch/wait at the moment, I predict it would naturally be most likely to start tomorrow based on my egg collection date, but not sure how all the hormone medications will affect it.

So nervous! xx

I figured it was to do with the kisspeptin, it really seems to be much better although I wonder if it's also the reason we didn't get as many mature eggs so swings and roundabouts really.
I was going to email Anna yesterday to ask her advice although when we saw her and discussed it she still suggested trying to get to day 5 so would have no doubt said the same again.

They called this morning and after some time to think, their advice we've opted to try going to day 5 again, I really hope we don't regret this but if the same thing happens I'll begin to wonder if there is an underlying problem. We had 4 7 cells, 1 6 cell and a 4 cell today but the 7 cells were all looking very similar, 1 slightly better than the rest but not by much and it would have been difficult to pick a 2nd to transfer. The embryologist seemed lovely and very understanding of the concerns. I just hope come Saturday we have something to transfer, I feel extra scared with so few embryos.

Tinselcat have you held off testing so far? you've done extremely well if so, how many DPT are you now? Good luck x

Good luck tinkerbell with your day 5 transfer!

I think my embryos were transferred about 11 days ago.

I have held off testing as I find a BFN more depressing than AF starting. I'm not sure what I'll be like on Saturday as I will test first thing assuming no AF.

I've got a nosebleed right now and I don't know if that's because I'm nervous (I sometimes get them when stressed) or if it's a symptom. There's always that secret annoying voice whispering 'could be a symptom'. I don't want to think about it! So maybe lots of TV this evening :)

I know what you mean seeing a bfn is just even more heartbreaking but be aware (if you're not) that progesterone can delay it, I waited 4 days from stopping them on my failed IVF and IUI cycles before she arrived.

tinks, 4 7 cells is fabulous. you could have a point with eggs - we got half the number on our kisspeptin cycle but we also only stimmed for a few days - about half as long as the first time so I wasn't sure. I'm glad you've got a decision, and hope you have more good news in a few days

tinsel, good luck when you test

Thanks for the well wishes.

Unfortunately it's BFN.

I feel like my life is doomed.

I'm so so sorry tinsel :( don't feel doomed though - you've had a bfp before and you will get one again. Look after yourself right now as your bound to be feeling emotional x

So sorry tc. I was so hopeful for you. Take care, your def not doomed, but you will have to be amazingly strong to get through this. You're only doomed if you give up. Xxx
