*~*~* September 2015 Mummies *~*~*

Sorry, popping in from August mummies - I have GD but no one has mentioned anything about an induction. I've read that the placenta can deteriorate with GD if you go over so should I mention this? I'm 36+3 and baby is weighing a lovely 5lb 8. I'm still diet controlled.

Well I believe it's mainly due to size if baby altho it's the tinny measurement they worry about the most if it's big I think it means the baby has sugar probs. Baby Hayes is measuring well in all areas. They don't like u to go over 38wks as it can b dangerous to baby I think the rate of stillbirth n complications goes up not 100% sure tho. I think if u r having trouble controlling ur sugars that's another factor but im not so that's why they r letting me go over by a few days.

Oh thats odd hun mayb it's just my area that won't let u go over. Hope I haven't scared u I'm sure all will b fine. Do u have any more scans/consultant appointments??

Good news about your scan, Michelle. So exciting you have a date!!!!
Bunny, just seen your pressies from your colleagues, how lovely!!
Had a brill day with my little man, I'm worn out and so is he. I've just made my nana's tortilla recipe and he's just polished off the same amount as me. Gut bucket.
Hubby is at his mum's tonight so I'm going to catch up on rubbish TV. Xx

I'm seeing my mw next week and I have a scan and will see my consultant the week after at 38 weeks. My baby is measuring well and my sugars are controlled. I saw the consultant and had a scan earlier this week and all they said was I'm doing well. I am a little worried tbh!

I'm sorry if I have worried u hun. I'm sure ur hospital n consultant know what is best fir you.

I would defo have a chat with them tho see if they can put ur mind at ease.

Has anyone tried taking evening primrose oil in the past to bring on labour? x

Thank you so much ladies. I've had the BEST day ever! Completely reminded me why I loved working there pre pregnancy haha!

I didn't expect gifts of any sort, if anything maybe they would chip in and buy something small as a team. They all got me individual gifts so I ended up with a pandora charm of a little girl, a big pink bear, a white rabbit teddy, a baby keepsake book, £50 and a soft blanket Yankee candle which is amazing by the way! When I went in this morning there was balloons and banners everywhere, feel so appreciated and loved the words in the cards were so touching. Just got back from the meal now and had such a laugh although I did end up crying at the end. Feels strange that that's it for 12 months at least, feels real now.

Feel lots better H, still getting the occasional pains and pressure just assuming it's little miss getting ready for her birthday.

CharDrap you have a fabulous bump!!!

I was really bad with sleep but seems to be getting better, touch wood had an amazing sleep last night!

Michelle glad your scan went well! All very exciting and she's a healthy weight too!

I got told 37 weeks for the raspberry leaf tea, apparently it helps relax down there so you have less chance of tearing? I'll be getting it and drinking it but not till then, don't want her to come till after 37 weeks.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that you haven't made me worry... I'm worried as everyone else bar me with GD is being induced. I will speak to my mw next week. Can I make them induce me? Can I tell them I don't want to go over? Ftm so I don't have a clue! :)

Purplecandy - I didn't take the primrose oil, I was told to pop one up my foof to soften the cervix. I did that every night (wouldn't recommend it!!) and it did nothing for me.
I bathed in Clary Sage oil and massaged my bump, I did the primrose oil, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, hot curry, bounced, walked, scrubbed...nothing worked for me. X

Glad scan went well Michelle :)

Sounds like a fab last day Bunny - enjoy putting those feet up!

Glad everyone seems to of had a good day today :)

Purple - I tried pretty much every method of getting my daughter to come early/on time and nothing worked for me either. I ended up a week overdue and then I decided to scrub kitchen floor on hand and knees and finally went into labour about 2 hours later. Prob a coincidence though as I was already overdue! I didn't try primrose oil though or raspberry leaf tea for that matter.

Did any of you second time mums try raspberry leaf tea with your first baby and not tear? I didn't realise that was one of it's effects, just thought it bought on labour. Would be interesting to know as I never took it and had bad tearing with Ruby x

xx

My midwife encouraged me to take it to not tear, I've since asked some mums that I know and none of them have teared. Could be a coincidence of course xxxx

I didn't tear, I only had a graze. So perhaps the primrose oil and raspberry leaf did work.

I have just been reading up on RLT on loads of different sites and loads of mums who took it said it didn't start off labour but their labours were pretty short and they only had to push for like 10 mins etc - apparently it strengthens your muscles so your contractions etc are a lot more effective. Apparently it only causes early labour if you take too high a dose too soon but your body also needs to build up the levels for it to work properly and a lot of people say starting at 36 weeks is too late. I think I am going to buy the tablet version as I hate fruit teas and start taking it at 35 weeks, says you should start by taking one tablet/cup a day and gradually build up so that by 37 weeks you are taking a full dose. Willing to try anything for a shorter labour. My first was 29 hours long with 3 hours of pushing! x

That would be right for me, pains started at midnight, 3cms at 2am (ish) and then O was born at 5.31am after no more than a few pushes.

Sounds good. I was reading up on it too and saw something which said its not recommended if you've had a previous c-section. I have a midwife appt on Monday so I'll ask about it x

Yeah I saw that as well Katherine, definitely worth asking about.

I was also pleased as it says it helps with post labour bleeding, well I had a PPH with Ruby so anything that helps with bleeding sounds positive too.

Gilly that is an amazing time for a first labour! Definitely makes me want to go out and get some :)
