Oh allipops hope your infection clears up. That's all you need when you've got a newborn.

Alipops guessing your on formula? How old is Zac now? Xx

Zac will be 4 weeks on Thursday, he was born 17 days early on 14th August - originally due 31st August - was moved from 1st September. We are lucky in that he is mostly a good baby. Doesn't often cry without good reason, can manage most of the time to self settle and loves his formula. His timing does change every so often which throws a curve ball at us!

Thankfully we are on formula, Aptimal, otherwise Doctor said it would have been difficult to give me any drugs and I am in need of them! Hoping the infection clears up quickly and that, that is what we're dealing with.

Two restless nights with Elara. She was a great little sleeper and fair play she has taken to the breast brilliantly. Ha too well which is why she struggles with sleep at night now. She loves Da boob. The last night in hospital made it really difficult to have my blood transfusion because she always wanted to be on them. Lucky the nurses and midwives helped me through it. Don't think my boobs have ever been fondled so much.
So we're basically setting the next few days up to be awake at night and sleep through the day when she crashes out. Until we can establish a routine. Still feeling rough and trying to piece together the labour completely it felt like such a surreal experience!

Best thing is though my husband is thriving at being a daddy. He's such a natural I swear he actually glows!

Hi everyone. Alfie is now 17 days old and we'll have been home a week tomorrow. We're getting used to each other. He feeds 3 hourly between 2-3 oz. More at night generally. Suffering from lack of sleep and still have infected c-section wound which is rather uncomfortable. But totally in love with my little man.

I don't know Sarah. They never told me his length but reckon he's pretty long. X

Thats strange they never told u. Usually the health visitor will know if not ask her to measure him next time x

My little man was 54cms at birth, I asked for him to measured even though they aren't suppose to they did a rough version for me , due to be measured again at 6 weeks with HV.

What a weekend! Had a terrible night on Saturday with Olivia, felt like having a breakdown she never slept for a whole 8 hrs - screaming, crying, just generally terrible! Then to find out a family friend has passed away Saturday afternoon, then my step dad has had a major heart attack this afternoon. - I haven't slept, caught n hr sleep at 5 this morning on the couch as I didn't want to move her upstairs to her crib, guessing tonight is going to be another sleepless night! Worst weekend. Ever.

Awe that's rotten, hope you get a sleep tonight ! Everything always happens at the one time.
Chin up. And catch some sleep when you can x

amy,
so sorry to hear that! hope all is okay with your step dad and you've managed to catch up on a little rest.

So we had our first trip,to the hospital with baby Eden. He's been projectile vomiting after every feed for 4 days now and doctor sent us to hospital they seem to think its a virus , so hopefully that's all. He brings up his complete feed 95% of the time , wee soul that he is! night time is torture as it's a full bed and cloth change after every feed. He seems ok though and apart from crying a little just before it happens he doesn't seem to unsettled. Was just worried he wasn't getting enough milk but was wrong as his weight is increasing nicely

Awh bless him Julie! Hope he's on the mend it's horrible seeing them so helpless :-(

I've still had a terrible few days, my terminally ill nan has taken a turn for the worse today, it's never rains but pours when it comes to me!
Olivia's been pretty good though, slept all night last night! Couldn't believe it!!

Hi Girls,

Amy I'm so sorry to hear that you've had a rough few days...How horrible for you and your family :( I'm glad Olivia slept better for you last night, She must have sensed it!

Oh Julie bless Eden, that sounds horrible for him. Is there anything they can do for the virus or does it just need to come out of his system?

So we are home and doing ok I think! Although Violet seems to have her days and nights mixed up! She sleeps like a dream in the day then is wide awake at night, unless she is feeding or lying on me! She is more than happy to sleep on her own in the day but doesnt seem to like it at night, Its very strange! So the past two nights she hasnt fallen asleep until 3.00..but then I have had to wake her at 9.00 to feed. I'm worried as well that this is too long to leave her to feed...Its all very confusing at first!

It's hard the first few days. Eden was the same slept all day and awake at night. They soon adjust and you'll start to get a little sleep. Just enjoy your cuddles ! I let Eden sleep longer if he's hungry he will soon wake up x

Thanks Julie..It certainly is a learning curve! Hopefully it will settle down soon.. It is only early days, obviously they dont know the difference between day and night yet do they so I guess its to be expected!
x

Thanks, very stressful time atm! But I'm due a bit of good luck so fingers crossed.

Clare- don't think you're alone on that one I.e. Sleep I have to wake Olivia sometimes as it's comes up to 6 hrs without a feed, I spoke to my midwife about it and she said...."if she isn't crying and putting on a steady weight then she doesn't want a feed and you're probs causing more of an issue trying to settle her again"
I've found last night, she had her last feed between 1-2am then she didn't wake up till half 6/7 - and she let me know she wanted her breakfast lol!! Hoping for the same tonight, *touch wood* I've also dragged her swinging crib right next to my bed so I can put my hand in when needs be, that helped her loads I found, and I've started to dim my bedside light as well too try and get her mind thinking it's bed time (doubt it will work but hey never know!£
