* september 2014 mummies! *

Hey all

I posted this in a separate post, but I am concerned about the amount of time Étienne spends crying. It seems if he is awake and not feeding then he is crying non stop. I have such an unhappy baby it seems, and I don't know what is wrong with him and how to make it stop. He gets himself so worked up too, red face, real tears, sometimes giving himself the hiccups!

Oscar is the same, it's only been this week that he's really started seeming happy, he even smiles and giggles when we tickle him during nappy change, it usually means he has wind but he seems happy! I read somewhere that babies stop crying unnecessarily at around 8 weeks so hold on in there!

Alfie doesn't smile yet :-( but he was early. I think his reflux is causing our new issues so speaking to gp tomorrow. Better day than yesterday. But still lots of crying and only 30 mins morning and afternoon of alert happy baby.

Hi ladies, it's all gone quiet in here, how's everyone doing? Kanga, been thinking of you and the little one and hoping he's making a good recovery.

I am up far too late and having some cheeky vodka! Luna is sound asleep in her moses basket, almost time to wake her for a feed so that I can get to bed without thinking I could be woken up at any time by a hungry baby!

Today I did my first workout since I gave birth and boy was it tough! Discovered I have quite severe muscle separation in my abdomen so have to be very careful what I do. (that's the planned 30 day shred out the window then!). 6 week pp check-up on Tuesday so hopefully they'll recommend some exercises to follow on from the basic ones in the little "Fit for the Future" leaflet I got after I gave birth. My stitches are still hurting a bit though...although 5 weeks on I'm fairly sure they'll have dissolved by now. Braved the scales and I am 2 stone up on my pre-pregnancy weight! Shameful! I only have myself to blame too, I used pregnancy as an excuse to eat anything and everything.

Luna is doing fantastically, although isn't sleeping during the day other than 10 minute cat-naps. This is leading to a very over-tired and twisty baby who just has to be held all the time :( She's not the kind of baby who can lie on an activity mat and be happy, or even sit in her bouncer. Means that her feeds are spaced out to about 2 hours during the day, although in the last couple of days I've got that up to 3 (enduring quite a bit of whinging to make this happen!).

Hope everyones doing well and the September babies are thriving! :) Also, hope you mummies are getting some much-needed sleep!
x

Hey don't panic! Luna sounds very like Pippa in the day, she doesn't usually sleep for long either and gets increasingly more fussy as the day goes on. She likes her bouncy chair and playmat but more so in the morning, when she's overtired she also likes to be held (and mostly fed!).
Well done you on the workout, I've been trying to do plenty of walking but that's it so far-can't wait to get back to running again! Need to stop eating so much bad food too, am definitely using up my extra bf calories!

Only 2 stone don't panic! You lightweight! I'm only 1 more than pre oregnancy but 4 more than my wedding day weight, feel slightly proud! Ha. I can't wait to start working out! I've ripped a couple of stitches though so will have to wait a bit, plus Xmas is coming! January it is!

Don't panic. Hope you enjoyed your wee voddie ; and Luna was good for you

Weight wise I'm still a stone heavier than before pregnancy. So I went back to the gym 2 weeks ago,
I'm slowly getting there but finding it hard getting spare time to get there

I wanted to do the 30 day shred but was advised against by doc but the. Gym instructor said it would be fine

Anyway we should start a diet club in here for motivation and support do everyone wanting too loose the baby weight

Or have a laugh at how bad we all are at not loosing it lol x

I think I'm putting more weight on after having Elara. I feel hungry ALL the time. I never had this appetite before or during pregnancy. Anyone else feel like that?

On the plus side Elara has blossomed from an adorable grump into a much cheerier baby over the past couple of weeks. Lots of smiles and she loves just lying there kicking away all gurgles and smiles. Until she gets even a tiny bit tired that is. Then it's back to a typical tired grumpy baby. I don't know why she has to fight sleep so hard.

Pixxy, Luna is exactly the same, just constantly fighting the sleep and being a little grump! Today she managed a decent nap and for the first time she lay there afterwards just gurgling away. Usually she'd be grizzling!

Oh I diet support group would be awesome, just at the very least to have people who know how frustrating it is to still have a swollen wobbly belly 5 weeks pp! It's so frustrating! Think it must be the muscle separation making it look like I'm still 6 months pregnant :( Three days in now and have done a workout every day (albeit only a 30min one). Mackmummy, I was 2 stone overweight when I got pregnant anyway so I know have 4 stone to lose too! Piece of cake....no wait, that's what got me into this mess :p Wouldn't be so bad but these stretchmarks are FIERCE. I got to 36 weeks before they popped and boy did they pop. At least I got my cute little munchkin of a daughter out of it.

Julie I don't know how you're finding time for the gym! I manage 30mins with Luna kicking off in her pram at regular intervals! Good job though, I think the gym would flatten me right now! The only reason I think 30DS would be bad for me is that from what I remember there was a lot of ab exercises and that would just make my separation worse :( I really want to do it though, would be nice to get through it before xmas! Although I don't know how long this takes to repair.

Becky have you had any luck in getting Pippa to sleep more during the day? I've tried everything, even doing a bath/bottle/bed routine just to try and trick her into a nap! She doesn't shut her eyes until at least 11pm, which has turned me nocturnal! I'm not even joking, I go to bed at about 4 cos I like to enjoy a few hours of "me time" while Luna's asleep, and then from 4 Luna wakes me at 3 hourly intervals for a feed until about 12. I REALLY need to get out of the habit of getting up at 12, I'm getting nothing done during the day!

Has everyones bumps disappeared now? Is it just me sporting the "I haven't given birth to the other twin" look? x

Not really. Some days she does sleep a bit more but it's usually a fluke and related to what we're doing. She likes her baby carrier and usually sleeps in that do Saturday morning she got a good nap as we were put for over an hour with her in it-she was then out for the count and slept in her car seat for about another hour. Also if we've got visitors cuddling her she dozes off ok sometimes. There's no pattern to it though and other days she just resists whatever I do. Me time would be nice but I'm normally asleep shortly after she is. Last night she went down just after 9 and I was asleep by 9.30. Hubby was already asleep after moaning HE was knackered! Pipa slept right through though-I had to wake her at 3.45am as I was worried about her sleeping too long!

I'm going to start being healthier as of tomorrow, want to try and lose some weight before Xmas. I'm only about 5 pounds heavier than before I got pregnant but was already about a stone overweight then. Plan is to cut out most of the junk and to start walking a few miles everyday with the dog. Might try and gradually build up to some short jogging bouts too. Not quite sure how my boobs will survive that-had a pretty sturdy spprts bra before but not sure even that will cut it now!
My bump has gone just look generally plump and flabby all over! x

Hi all,

Been a while again...but glad to hear babies are gurgling away and happy (ish)!

I don't know how it's happened but Henry has slept around 7 hours per night for 3 nights now!! He's generally been a bit more awake during the day too, and has upped his feeds to every 3 or so hours. I remember following dd's lead when it came to routine, but second time around I felt like it would never happen. 5 weeks in and we're doing ok!

Anyone else feeling a bit emotional? I was ok in the early days, when we're supposed to get baby blues etc. But this past week everything is setting me off! And I feel a little bit like everyone is getting at me a bit : mum has her "advice", as does every other person ever to have had even the remotest contact with a baby! And with the weight thing too, mine is just falling off (sorry!) Just feel a bit odd.

Maybe it's just sheer exhaustion. Yes H is sleeping, but I'm still up every day around 6am and on the go all day with a toddler, then I'm constantly waking during the night checking baby...

Are you due your AF Crackers? Maybe it's that? I hope you feel better soon. Very jealous of Henry's 7 hours sleep. Elara doesn't settle until 1 am most nights and we do get the occasional night where she sleeps 4-5 hours before she wakes for a feed but it's mostly every 3 hours. Then another hour to get her settled back.

Morning All,

Crackers - there are definite highs and lows, some weeks I think I'm doing brilliantly etc and others everything is rubbish. Obviously this isn't helped by the constantly changing routine - you think you have it sussed and then they change the game!

Becky - personally, if baby is sleeping I wouldn't wake them at night. If they're hungry they'll wake up and also, I think it's mixed messages. We try so hard to get them sleep, then wake them up - doesn't make sense to me. Zac is sleeping 8:30pm/9pm - 3:15am, then he wakes up for milk, and goes to sleep 4:15am - 7:30am.

OH is off work this week so our routine is getting a bit out of sync annoyingly. Zac and I are off to our first Baby Massage class this morning while OH hoovers haha! I have an evening out for dinner with a friend planned, so OH will be at the helm, plus he has some golf planned - so we've worked out some "me" time for this week and we're also alternating the 4am feed.

Alipops xx

Alipops-you're definitely right about the changing routine. One day I can think yeah I can do this, my child is a dream, then she's a total nightmare another day!
Hope you enjoyed your baby massage class!

On another note I discovered how to get Pippa to sleep more in the day -just surround her with doting family members to cuddle get all day while she naps lol! Spent the afternoon with my sister in law and she was passed around between her and my niece and nephews while she slept for hours! She was pretty content all evening for hubby too which was nice. They took their first bath together which she seemed to love-heart melting to see them both enjoying it! We seem to have a right water baby - can't wait for her to start swimming lessons in a few weeks! x

i havent been on here in a while, i cant remember what ive just read!!

kanga i hope all is okay.

well, we are definitely not sleeping as well as some of you! we have decided we are going to start a bedtime routine, in the hopes he will learn to understand what's next and that it is bedtime. he's been having last feed around 10pm, sleeps until 1, then 3 then 5 then we're awake, pointless even putting him back.

last night we were kindly woken every two hours, sometimes not even that and he refused to take more than 2oz each feed. very frustrating.

i too had my first bath with LO the other day - he seemed to like it, didn't make a sound, was even falling asleep!

samuel won't often just lay there and kick around, he also likes to be held mostly.

seemingly going backwards with feeds, going every 2 hours again. we had got it up to 5oz every 3, which lasted a whole two days i think. very frustrating so will be trying to space them out, then he will take more.

still waiting on a smile here, samuel was 6 weeks on monday. heres a pic;

Aww thanks,I'll have a look for it xx

I know it's scary how quickly the time is going.
Won't let me add a pic for some reason?
Going to get him weighed later as he's not been since 6 weeks xx

Hey! I haven't been on in so long. I know I was just into August with Josh but I wanted to stay with the lovely September ladies. Loving hearing all your updates, going to sit down and read the whole thread tomorrow to get up to date.

Joshua came out of hospital at 4 weeks old after 2 operations on his bowel and a diagnosis of confirmed cystic fibrosis. He has done so well.

Because of his operations he came out of hospital at 5lb 15oz but has been putting on so much weight since. I am breast feeding him and he put on 13oz in a week last week so I'm hoping he will soon be heavy enough for his age.

With regards to his cf we have a hospital appointment and a home visit once a week.

Our current challenge is trying to get him to sleep longer at night, which seems to go well and then goes backwards again. I will post a piccie soon. X
