**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

We've just been to our first baby group by a bit of an accident really, I stopped by the sure start centre to get a timetable thingy and she said there was a group on in an hour if we were interested so after a quick walk home to get Cathy a bottle we went. Cathy was the youngest baby there and the oldest went to 9 months. It was nice to talk to some other mummies although it was a bit awkward as I was on my own and they all seemed to know each other. Cathy was awake through the whole thing which was nice and did some lovely smiles for the other ladies there. I think it overstimulated her a little bit though as she now won't sleep and is really cranky lol! I think we'll definitely be going again next week :) xx

Omg...been and had his jabs. Fine, no major dramas just screaming the place Dow. Got him into his pram, and he conked out for 30mins walking home, got home fed a few tears and slept on me for about an hour or so, but now it's when is awake and not eating he is uncontrollably crying, red face, scrunched face and so so so angry. I just cannot calm him, even food won't calm him at times, put him down and he is screaming, I cannot move. I just don't know what to do, I gave him calpol 10 mins ago as he feels very warm, but we are not happy chappies today. This is breaking my heart, I just cannot ease him.

I'm dreading night time, I may have to have some coffees.

Oh dear Kelly!

Just keep an eye on him and keep offering him food. James only took 2oz's of his last feed but an hour later he did take the other 4oz's!

M may wear himself out and end up sleeping quite well later? If not then it's only going to be for a few hours, the effects should wear off by tomorrow.

How are you taking his temp? I was using a digital themometer every hour to check James'

Kelly, try and give him a bath to sooth him or do some skin to skin, its prob really hurt him, i dont know if i can go in with arthur as i will cry because its hirt him :(

Well today girls i decided i was going to breast feed in public :) so i just got on with it and fed him for the first time :) woohoo TEAM BREAST. Lol
And then my fellas sister asked me to be a bridesmaid for her wedding, so happy :)) xxxx

Good for you wilson...!! :)

Not sure if el is starting her next leap? yesterday and today she hasnt been herself.. shes fighting sleep and really doesnt like been put down.. just not her usual self. We shall see

Ellas jabs are on the 23rd :( im dreading it, i wish there was an easier way to protect our babies.

I had my six week check yesterday and she didnt do anything, she checked my bp which was fine and then she said you dont look depressed and ticked off the post n depression box lol she didnt even ask me.. she didnt check my tummy or anything....?

GP didn't check my tummy. He did ask how I am feeling etc but that was it. Oh he did take my BP and prescribed me 8 months worth of the pill..

He was distracted throughout James' check as the phone kept ringing and he kept checking who it was (answered it twice and ignored it twice) but he kept forgetting what we were talking about? He also had to take James' measurements twice as he "forgot"

Oh well..

Well done wilson! The first time is the worse x

Oh was on babysitting duties tonight as I went for dinner and to the cinema with friends had a really nice time. Come home to fing mil had been on the phone and because oh told her I was out she assumed I'd stopped bf and had something to say when she was told LO was having formula. :( M is happy to take it and she only has it on a rare occasion. Why am I being made to feel like a bad mother because I went out for the first time since M arrived? I only missed giving her one feed :(
Anyway M through up her feed all over oh and the sofa, projectile style!! E said she guzzled it so no doubt it was because she was being greedy.

Ugh carnat I actually complained about my dr!

He didn't know what he was doing...he just looked at my swollen nipple and lump (no apologies for hurting me) and his advice "yeah it's a cyst, leave it" leave it...it's red raw! I was shocked. He gave me no advice on certain questions just virtually ignored them. Didn't tough on my PND or ask how I was. Did not interact with M, took the piss out of his name, told me that he isn't ganging enough weight (13lb 10 and only 2months old...I'm impressed) but told me in a off handish way. He was so unorganised and scruffy that I just felt he didn't know what he was doing. He told me his head is too big...what am I to do with that information, it was lie it was my fault. In the end I got so frustrated I confronted him but he just shrugged me off. I told the receptionist and the horrible thing is is that she didn't seem shocked and I don't think he will last. I feel bad but he wasn't bothered about trying.

Well thanks for advice everyone. He calmed down after calpol (thermometer confirmed temp) I had a few more screams and his left leg has swollen and bruised...poor angel. But they soon turned into giggles and smiles so I felt better and so did he.

Wilson him having the jabs was hard but I coped, it's the aftermath, I wasn't prepared for that. So just have cuddles at the ready, be ready for him to really wanting food...but he may be absolutely unaffected!

And go BREAST, braver than me.

Morning girlies

Nat id complain, i did about the dr who did a smear on my when i asked her to stop and cried when i went to see her for soreness, she didnt even write in arthurs book and said i cant find it, here. I made another appt and saw another dr. Turns out i have trama in my lady bits from birth very swollen and trauma! so why did the 1st dr subject me to a painful smear??

Well i followed the breast feeding nurse advice yesterday and we had no green poo's one happy baby and he only got up twice in the night happy days xx

@Kellybean - Thanks! We got to see the HV yesterday and she never said whether she thought it was eczema or not but said I can use E45 on it and see what happens. Hope M is feeling better after his jabs!

Had Aela weighed yesterday and she was 10lbs 11oz! She's also just under 59cm long. She's such a milk guzzler!

xx

Seems strange seeing these weights at being told M isn't gaining enough weight and he is 13lb10...fatty

sallybee, hope you see this. How are you getting on with your new pump? I bought one from amazon this morning to try and increase milk production and better expressing. I use hand pump and was getting nothing. HV today recommended to use it too. Just interested to know...

It all depends on birthweight hun!

As M was a bigger baby then he would be expected to weigh more (if that makes sense?)

In your red book there is a graph and they should be plotting M'd weight each time you take him? You'll see what centile he started in and they like bub to follow that centile.

James is 10lb 13oz now and long (they didn't measure him but he is growing out of his 0-3 months in length only!) yet he has dropped from 25th centile to just in 9th centile.

I have a question - what on earth do all these different centiles mean?!!xx

I have a question - what on earth do all these different centiles mean?!!xx

Someone explained it to me like this:

If you lined up x amount of children and your baby is in 25th centile then 24% of the other babies would be smaller and 75% would be bigger.

So if your bub is in 9th centile then only 8% will be smaller but 91% would be bigger.

The important thing is not the centile they are in but that they continue to follow that centile.

Also they can be in different centiles for height / weight and head circumference.

Arthur is on the 75th centile but he was 8lb 7oz, bigger babies carry a higher centile,

Can milk flow reduce?? Xx

New pump is fab, it's taking me half the time to pump and I'm getting more than I used to (not the biggest increase for me, only about 5oz per day, but I'm being quite lazy and allowing myself to sleep through the night!) did you get the ameda lactaline or a different one xx

Madison is on the 75th centile too :)
Milk production can reduce but I thought it only would if you were substituting with formula?

Yep bigger babies are on bigger centiles!

I was expecting James to be a whopper as he was so late, he is making up for it now though!

xxxxxxxx
