May 2018 Mummies....Tri 2

Controlled crying worked well for us until Emily could climb out of her cotbed so we put a stairgate at the door and she climbed that's too. Haha I give up ! Lol

Had my scan, first thing lady asked us was do you want to know the sex or is it a surprise baby? We said we knew but wanted her to say what she saw before we told her so she looked at the gentials first and confirmed it is a girl, she said she's cooking nicely and all is well, photo not that good as she wouldn't pose and was constantly moving xx

It worked brilliantly to get him used to going down at night, only took a couple of nights. But at 5 in the morning i'm reluctant to have all that noise as my daughter is likely to wake up and be unable to get back to sleep! It was so much easier with only one, I dont know why I never did CC with her instead we did all the gentle stuff and she didnt sleep thru til she was 3 and still is pretty bad at nights at nearly 10 lol

Very much so I feel so much better she was looking around those regions for a while and certainly no danglers was there haha

at mine they have a very strict notice saying they are busy checking important things and taking measurements so dont even waste their time asking the gender as this is not what they are looking at medically...however surely they must check that everything is ok down there- it's an important organ after all?

I think they do but I’ve been told by three people in the medical profession (my friend who is a trainee Midwife, my GP neighbour and another who is a nurse) to ask at the end on the basis that they may use more time looking to determine gender and less on other things within the finite slot we get. My neighbour said whilst it’s not professional for the sonography to focus on gender over other issues and you should get everything checked, some could taken longer if they know it’s what the parent(s) want and if the baby is not playing ball it could take longer than ideal. Her view was that whilst parents often want to know and are excited, they’d probably rather the checks be done thoroughly on everything more. She said if they spot it they will be able to tell you at the end. My friend who is a trainee said to just say you didn’t know if you wanted to know at the start and then ask if they knew at the end haha.

Xx

Glad your scans went well, ladies. I can't wait for mine now.

Pleased your scans went well, looking forward to seeing the rest of us get that ticked off, I feel like I can properly relax and enjoy the pregnancy now!

Have any of you ladies suffered with any faintness? I haven’t until this evening when I was having a Christmas meal with work colleagues, the restaurant was a bit warm but I came over so faint so suddenly I had to push my chair back and get my head down, I came over in a cold sweat and came so close to passing out. Luckily everyone around me sprang in to action fanning me and getting me some cold water I recovered within 10 mins and I feel ok now. I have read that it’s not uncommon so I’m not sure if I should bother the midwife by calling them to say anything.

Not since early on. Can you get your blood pressure checked to make sure it’s not low? If you keep feeling woozy maybe do so? Is there a nurse at your work? X

No nurse at work unfortunately and a friend was telling me today that she had to wait an hour and a half at the local drop-in clinic to have her little boy seen. Maybe I’ll call the day assessment unit in the morning and see if they suggest getting my blood pressure checked, it hasn’t been checked since my 16 week midwife appointment which was over 5 weeks ago now.

I had a midwife appointment today. First one since my booking so its either my 20 week one or a very late 16 week one, lol. This is the 3rd location I have been to as I had a booking first in one hospital then another , then this was my first appointment with 'my' community midwife team. So not much sense of continuity of care, partly through circumstance and partly everyone else assuming that everyone else is sorting me out i guess. Had to ask for my maternity NHS exemption card to be processed which apparantly is done automatically at the booking appointment. Well i have had two and no card application had been done!

The appointment was perfunctory , standard urine and blood pressure and see you in 6 weeks. Quite a contrast to my last pregnancy where I had same midwife each time, GP checking on me every few weeks, and mental health team support around me doing home visits (I was suffering from PTSD so they were really rallying around in case of disaster!) I guess they just expect you to say if you need anything, but fortunately my PTSD symptoms are loads better since then so i havent really bothered to mention it. You would think they might have access to what went on before and during the last pregnancy but obviously not!

Sorry you are being treat rubbish this time around liz , mine is the same as last time I never saw the same midwife and I haven't this time either. I was pretty annoyed when I had my 16 week appointment when my supposed midwife was eating when I had my appointment so I saw another one only for this one to pop in for 1 minute before I was finishing off and she said that's good she can go back to her cake now! The bloody hospital had no newborns and nobody was in labour so that really pissed me off thay my assigned midwife could have seen me.

I was very fortunate last time I was at a tiny midwife unit in the rather upper class cotswolds, they only had 50 births there a year so it was not like the production line of overworked understaffed bigger hospitals ..the difference is striking!

Where my appointments are is a midwife run birthing centre and only do straightforward births. It's not like they are busy so I don't see no reason why I can't see my appointed midwife .

So it turns out I have SPD and need physio :-( xx

well thats good to have a diagnosis and be getting it sorted, although bad luck you are going from one pregnancy pain to another....

they say that SPD only gets worse however in both my previous pregnancies i had it midway thru 2nd tri and then when baby moved upwards further it went away,.....so hoping the same for you!

I said to doctor is there anything else I can get through this pregnancy I seem to get everything else lol I hope your right too as he said I could have it till she's here x
