**March 2012 Babies**

oh no, glad everything is ok with your little man wannab :hugs:

When do you finish up? tri3 is not as easy as tri2 thats for sure, too many aches and pains!!

I've got about 5 and a half weeks left before I go on may leave!! It's just rubbish coz I do 13 hour shifts and it is so busy I rarely get a break and have to run to the toilet when I get a spare second - it is so manic at the moment. As soon as I get a day off I feel like I have run a marathon I'm aching everywhere from being on my feet for so long and being so stressed/tense!

I am really pleased he's ok, I think because i had been putting off going in because I didn't want to bother them again I made it worse because my anxiety just built up and I just burst into tears last night! I just want him to be here and safe and healthy! Not long to go now though - I can't believe how quickly this second half is going!! Xx

Well while you're all being kicked to pieces my LO decided to go completely quiet for 3 days so spent the evening up the hospital being monitored last night to check he was ok! He's fine - turns out he has gone breech so I am just feeling the movements differently to what they were before :-/ let's hope he turns back round the right way before he's born! I am getting seriously bad back pain and hip pain these days! I really cannot wait to finish work! Xx

Ohh no! Sounds like you've got a little monkey inside that tummy of yours! I'm really glad everything was ok though! :hugs:

I felt soo sore last night when I laid in bed, and kept getting shooting pains into my private regions! Went off thankfully and fell asleep, to be woken up at 9am this morning by the little wriggle bum!

Oh you must have got a fright WBM, Glad all is ok, I think they just like to keep us on our toes hehe

I'm glad everything was okay wbm!!! :hugs: Sounds like you have a tough job. Shouldn't your employer do something to make your job more adapted to you since your pregnant??

Well I am a midwife ironically! Lol. So they have already moved me from delivery suite to the postnatal ward, but it still doesn't help when you have 15 women to look after who have all had c/sections and need help getting up and going home! I love my job so much, but at the moment it is so hard, and it is so poorly staffed that moral is so low. One of the women even said to me yesterday that she wanted to go home because the atmosphere on the ward was so stressful, that broke my heart because all you want to do is be able to care for people as well as you would want to be treated but you can't when you have 2 midwives looking after 40 patients. :-( xx

oh your a midwife, is that a good or ba thing being pregnant??? on one hand you must know the answer to a lot of the silly thins we all worry about but then you know all the bad things that can happen too

Sounds awful to be so busy and stressed in work 2 mw to 40 is just crazy, will u be having ur baby in the hospital u work in or somewhere else?

I honestly thought it would make me a better pregnant lady being a midwife - but actually it has turned me into such a worrier!! I am so paranoid about every little thing that could go wrong! It's driven me mad!! Sometimes it doesn't help to know so much about something!

I am hoping to have my baby at home! Not because I don't trust the hospital, but because it's where I work you know?? No one else in their right mind would decide to have their baby at work, and I ant stand the idea of all my work colleagues looking at my bits and watching me lose all dignity! Lol. But if things don't go to plan I am booked at a different hospital so at least I won't be around all my colleagues (although some of the doctors who have left our hospital are now at the one I am booked at so I can't win really! Lol) xx

yeah i think id be the same in ur shoes, sometimes ignorance is bliss

oh lovely i know few thathad home water births n they went so well, will u use water r just normal birth at home?

i always moan about living in d iom cos its such a silly litte island at times but so lucky that the hospital only ever has a handfull of pregnant women at a time so u et much more attention

We have got a pool - am hoping for a water birth if OH can figure out how to get it all set up! Lol. :) aww it's nice that you have a quieter hospital, I would love to work in a hospital like that, I bet the midwives there are excellent because they are not rushed off their feet!! When I was a student I did a placement in a birth centre and it was bliss! There was one delivery a day and you could spend the whole 12 hour shift with that one woman and really care for her!

I am getting really impatient now, just want it to be march and the little man nearly here - it's dragging a bit now I am getting so big! Xx

oh i know i was looking in the mirror just now after my shower and i swear iv grown since this morning lolim actually bigger than i expected to bbe at full term

iv also got a limbo belly button, It never popped out but its not a iney any more, its just flat haha

Haha! Mine is the same! It's like half an innie half an outie!! I have an indecisive belly button! LOL!! Xx

Oh my...doesn't sound legal wbm!! Just take care of yourself - if it gets too much, than back down and relax!!

Your so lucky not to have an outie! You can see mine through my clothes!!

My belly button is the same! All the women at my antenatal class seem to have very obvious outies, and there's me with a half in half out one!

Unfortunately that's how it is on postnatal wards all over England! It is widely known as the Cinderella service because it is always under staffed as midwives get pulled from there to work on delivery suite, so it can feel like that a lot! But I am def putting me and baby first, i may think about leaving earlier if it gets too much! Wishing I had a desk job at the mo! Lol.

I want my belly button to make its mind up - its annoying me! Lol. Sometimes it looks like its gonna go, and completely pop out but then it doesn't! Lol xx

worst thing is i know a few girls at college who want to be midwives and theyre being told basically that theres no way they will be able to get onto the course due to lack of places.

I feel like this is a typical healthcare issue - they want to save money and the people working need to do more in less time. I Think it's because you care so much about your patients that you go through with it! I have a friend who work as a nurse here in Norway and she is basically running all day long. I know that a worker in any other occupation would refuse to work like she does, but she just have to as often it's a matter of life and death. I get so frustrated on everyone in the health sector's behalf! You do such a good job and deserve better!!! (I always tell my friend that we should start a new labour union for nurses because you deserve so much more) xx

It can be really frustrating because it is a total catch 22. The birth rate in the UK is rising, but they are not putting any money into more jobs for midwives, so those of us already there have to work ourselves into the ground. But I am hoping that somehow it will turn around eventually - I still have faith :) If it doesn't then I am going to open my own birth centre! Lol xx

Yes, that's a brilliant idea!!!:) I'm sure many people would pay money to give birth somewhere they would feel that the midwifes and nurses had time to take care of them (I know I would)! I'm off to have a private antenatal class, because our local midwife service doesn't have a tour on the hospital due to little resources. The mw I'm off to see is very busy I've heard, so many choose to go private instead of public.

How's everyone doing? :) Can't believe I'm 33 weeks today! Where is the time going?
Went to antenatal class last night and did all about pain relief - definately not wanting an epidural now if I can help it.. the mention of catheters scares the daylights out of me!

Packed LO's bag for the hospital other night, doesn't all completely fit in the bag though.. might be something to do with the amount of clothes I've packed seen as I'm so indecisive! Gonna leave mine and do it next week probably.

Everyone feeling ok?
