***July 2019 Mummies***

Lets talk hospital bags. I know its early, but I want to be prepared.
I cannot for the life of me remember what I had packed last time, I do remember I had a load of unnecessary stuff. Has anyone midwife given them a list or has anyone found a 'decent' one online?

I saw one that said how important it is to back snacks for your partner as you don' want them getting hungry and grumpy. I had to stop reading then!!!

I don't think it's too early to be thinking about it to be honest, a lot of things I've read suggest having your hospital bag packed around 30 - 32 weeks in case of going in early, so that's only in around 10 weeks for me!

My maternity notes have a hospital bag list in them, but I haven't really looked at it yet to be honest. I've just looked at the usual lists online, and ignoring advice from a pregnant lady at my work whose most essential items are her eyebrow pencil and fake tan...

Hahaha I'm sure partner getting hungry and grumpy will be the last thing on either of your minds! Although I've heard snacks are a good idea in general for yourself, not sure if I'll be hungry if I'm in pain though...

Eyebrow pencil and take tan?! Interesting item suggestions from your colleague...I might park them in the non essentials list!

I remember Lucozade sport and the dissolvable energy tablets were a god send. I also bought a thick fleece dressing gown and warm slippers as it was winter with my son. Massive error! It was so hot.
Its really difficult to know as you could be in for as little as 4 hours post birth or days!

She also said "eeeewww no" when someone asked her if she was going to breastfeed. I can definitely say she's not my go to person for advice/suggestions!

Lucozade and energy tablets seem like a good idea, haven't really seen that on any lists before! Might be easier to down something like that than eating I guess!

I have a list in my hospital folder. Will look at it tomorrow and take a picture.

To be honest, I’d probably take some juice to make drinks with and if he’s hungry he can go to the shop ha I’m not too worried about my bag. I live 10mjns from the hospital luckily so if we forget anything something will be able to bring it for us.

That would be fab please. I dont have anything like that in my folder

We are 40 mins from the hospital (outside of rush hour!!) As im not allowes to my local hospital because it a midwifery led unit. Let' hipe it isn' a quick labour!!

That's great news Jellybean! Glad to hear all is going well and that you got to find out the gender!

So I had my consult at the hospital (20 weeks). My blood pressure is borderline too high. And also talked about the anaesthetic (I have a nerve and muscle issue ) and it’s basicslly up to that doctor how I will give birth.

We need a morrisons! There isn't one anywhere near here, or am asda :( I had a look online and I think tu at sainsbury is going to be key!

I've been wondered about hospital bag too thinking I should start to sort one in the next few weeks. Someone said tamba do a list but I've not joined yet, website wouldn't work properly. Didn't think of asking mw, that's a good idea

They will just keep an eye on you won't they? I'm sure it will be OK. Have a read up on the signs of preeclampsia just in case. Are they getting you back to take it again?

I was asked to do two trials at my 20wk. One is monitoring blood pressure. I hoped I'd be in the group that didn't have to do anything but alas no, they gave me a monitor and I have to take my BP 3 times a week and send it in on my app. I dont like montoros as they pump it way too high before letting it down, give me a manual reading any day! The other trial was something about extra testing on the heel pick blood they take from babies at day 5. They have this done anyway but they just do some extra tests, looking at diabetes predisposition I think. Although for type 2 I think that's BS but never mind.

We are 25-60 from the hospital depending on time of day and traffic. I've already had colleagues offering to deliver my babies - no thanks! Unless I need to get there quickly I will be doing my best not to call them, lol. Tbh, we mostly get calls from people in labour when they either had no plan to get to the hospital anyway and think our 'taxi' is their birth right (this is quite annoying), baby has come way quicker than anyone anticipated or the car has broken down. It does annoy me when patients at told to come in by mau (not as an emergency but to make there own way) so then rather than doing that they ring us. Dont get me wrong, sometimes they need entonox but usually not and the mau prefer us not to give it unless labour is confirmed anyway. When we sugguest they use the car on the driveway we do get some funny looks sometimes!

Got my cervical scan tomoreow, lucky me

@Jellybean86 great news all went well at the scan. Congrats on having a little girl:)
1 week until my scan.
I’ve got a hosp bag list somewhere which i’ll Dig out. I do remember packing way too much with my first - a suitcase full:D
With my 2nd I had a large hold-all bag which seemed about right.
Good luck Radley!

Glad everything went well jellybean! Congrats on team pink!

Radley good luck with your cervical scan! Will be interesting to know how many mm you have (haha that's something I never thought I'd say!!!) They want to see me fortnightly now due to it reducing 8mm in 2 weeks. But im not worried as still above 'acceptable limits'.

Babymaker how exciting your scan next week!! I need to pack a bit lighter this time as was a bit over cautious last time!

Is anyone else struggling with lower back pain? Im in a lot of pain by the evening with hot water bottles and pillows propped behind me. I dont think my posture is very good and it's taking its toll!

35mm, apparently that is all good and low risk for preterm delivery. Who knew one day I'd know the length of my cervix, lol.
Also completed the anomaly scan and twincess 1 was in the correct position. They both look bang size wise and all good. The lady said my 12 week scan twin 1 looked quite curled up so she didn't think the measurement was accurate - wish the other women had bloody said that, save me two months of worry!

So how many girls and boys do we have now? Thought I was keeping track but my brain is pants.

And yes to lower back pain. Also if I'm on my feet for an hour, heel pain and calf pain. Oh and hip pain at night. Noone tells you any of this stuff!

Very quiet on here... how is everyone doing?

Is anyone else starting to feel very impatient for baby's arrival now?! I think it all started feeling much more real for me since 20 week scan, finding out what we're having, and more frequent and stronger movements now too.

I want to start buying things now, but I feel like if I buy anything it will just make me more impatient! Trying to put it off for as long as possible so that the wait between having baby things in the house and baby arriving doesn't feel too long. I'm also going to be getting a few bits and pieces from family and friends, so waiting to see what we will have and what we actually need to buy. I've made a whole list of things already though (I love making lists...), and looking online to see where I can get everything. Anyone buying things yet?

It is quiet! Unless you can all hear my constant burping which honestly just will not quit! Drinking gaviscon like water arm.

Does feel like it's taking ages yet is going must faster than say up to 12 weeks which took forever.

I've bought a couple of bits and we've been given a ton of many grows and clothes from a friends mum who has been collecting bits for us which is lush.

Also went to look at Mountain buggy duet at the pram shop. Just what we wanted but then went on an eBay search. Picked one up yesterday in Bristol, bareltnused. Came with car seat and one carry cot so we need another car seat and carry cot as we are sortedm. Bit of a faalff hunting for bits but I reckon it will save us £400!

I'm also getting bigger, I swear I am growing daily now and walking feels more like waddling, lol. Cannot wait to finish work but that is ages away :(

The constant burping is awful!! I try and hold it all in while at work during the day, and then I spend the evening just burping away... the joys of pregnancy! Haven't really had any heartburn though so haven't been taking gaviscon... does it help with the gas?

It's definitely going faster than the wait up to 12 weeks, and some days I think I can't believe I'm more than halfway and quite a bit through 2nd trimester... but at the same time it's so slow and dragging!

One of the guys in my office apparently just found out I'm pregnant today, and when he said that he had no idea before, another guy responded with "haven't you noticed she's been eating toast every morning?" Lovely to know that my increased appetite hasn't gone unnoticed even by the guys...

It helps with the heartburn and a little with the gas. Today it's been awful so I got some ranitidine as I just can't stand the bloating all the time. Let's hope it helps.

Had a lovely night away in a posh hotel to relax, room had two roll too baths in front of the tv, bliss!

I make toast at work too, second breakfast. Lol

Anyone got scans coming up? My next is at 28 weeks so 6 weeks away, ages!

We’ve bought loads so far. Had our 20 week scan today (20+6) and baby seems to be healthy and very stubborn. Back in 2 weeks because he refused to move

I am currently doing all the stressful things I shouldn't be doing. Both of us quit our jobs and we're 90% moved across country. Still no scan date for 20 week scan. See midwife to book in at new trust when I'm 21 +4 weeks. Should get rushed through for it then.

Squidge is starting to kick me more and more. They had great joy stamping on my cervic for 10 mins a few nights ago. OH even felt a kick the other day (surprising as I'm a chunky!)

I'm wanting to get the scan done and dusted so I can breath and chill a bit more.

Also am I the only one who hates people belly touching? I hate touch in general but pregnancy seems to make people think it's OK to just jiggle my fatty bits around.

Gutted I’m not feeling proper movements yet but my placenta is anterior apparantly so not expecting much for a few weeks still.
