** January 2020 Mummies **

Hello ladies! @Kitana aww, have you told your OH that you need him to step in a bit more? I found that mine is much more cooperative when I directly tell him "I need you to do XYZ, it's too much for me", otherwise he won't do it by himself :)

@Lollypop79 It's good that you had it checked out, I totally understand how you must have felt! I've had a few times when baby was suddenly still for awhile and I would try to get a kick and freak out when he didn't react. I eventually got a reaction back but I would have also gone to hospital if he took too long.

My friends organized a surprise baby shower/party for me and OH yesterday and it was sooo much fun. I liked that it was not women only and there were our couple friends and kids and fun games and lots of yummy food, I was so impressed of how they had thought of everything! We got gifts too! And it all remained me of these beautiful people I have in my life and made me feel loved and supported and even more ready for baby <3

Our house is a bit of a mess with baby stuff laying around and my hospital bag is only halfway packed but I plan to sort these out this week as I will be still working but only from home.

One last thing I was thinking of buying is a fancy breast pump. A friend of mine swears by it - its $499 but it's super quiet and hands free and small. It's kinda shaped like a bra cup so you can put it in your bra and do normal daily activities like cooking or even shopping in public (yes it's that silent).Since this is my first pregnancy, I am not sure how much I would need a breast pump but then the easier and more comfortable it is to use, the more likely that I will use it... have any of you had experiences/tips you can share?
I will try to be more direct, you're right, men don't understand subtle hints lol

How lovely that your friends threw you a baby shower! I have mine coming up this Saturday. So excited!

I hired a breastpump with my DD since I thought they were a bit pricey. I only breastfed her for 8 weeks so I was glad I didn't buy one. At first she didn't latch on and then we discovered she had a cow's milk protein allergy and needed specialised formula. I will wait again this time too in case this one has any allergies or something.
Will you be exclusively breastfeeding the baby?x

Oh enjoy your baby shower!

Yes, I am hoping that I will be able to breastfeed and would like to do that as long as possible. And so many friends told me that it's easier if you have a good breastpump because then OH can take care of some of the feedings and you can still go out for a dinner /meeting friends / etc without worrying about baby having enough milk and without having your breasts leaking. I think I'm just gna go ahead and order it.

Growth scan today and our baby girl is holding her own on the 24th percentile currently weighing 5lb 9oz at 36 weeks, I’m over the moon that she has moved and is no longer breech but head down and engaged I had a feeling as been feeling so much pressure. See consultant on Tuesday still to see if they are going to induce me but I really think now they will let me go into labour naturally which is what I’m hoping for and c section is less likely. Find out more on Tuesday! I have cheated last two weeks on gestational diabetes diet I felt like I wasn’t eating enough I have just been eating normally and seems to have been working ok with bloods and her growth! My bloods have actually come back lower than when diet controlled x

Had my next growth scan today she’s coming in at 3lb 15 oz. she’s dropped below the 10th centile so been referred to fetal medicine. Trying not to worry I just hope they call quick x

She's much better, thank you for asking!
She has to puff her inhaler twice a day to protect her lungs against viruses. I don't know if it really works but hope she doesn't get sick again when the baby gets here!

I'm 35 weeks today! Where did the time go??? My DD came at 36 weeks but I really hope this one comes nearer to her due date!
I've made my hospital bag, finally! But have yet to add my bikini. Coming Tuesday we will be going to the spa just the OH and I. I can't wait to relax and just float around in the heated pool!

I've been having excruciating pains under my belly button, the pains feel like appendicitis. It was so bad a few days ago I couldn't walk or talk. Apparently I have a pinched nerve which radiates towards the front of the belly. I feel it constantly like a dull pain now with extreme peaks when I do too much. The problem is the oh is not very helpful at all around the house and I still have to take care of my DD as well. I feel so drained all the time due to the pain.
Not long to go now!

How have you ladies been?x
Aww bless her glad shes feeling much better. Fingers crossed she stays ok and healthy bless her. I havent even done my hospital bag yet got babys bag ready now just need to do mine. Have a lovely time away. My back hurts alot now to and sleeping is horrible. Xx

I hope everything is ok with her. The measurements are not very accurate so I wouldn't worry too much yet!x

Good to hear your sugar levels are much better but I understand the eating more, I have started eating a lot more too and snacking too. My sugar levels are still normal and have yet to have a peak. Good job though!x

At least the baby won't go home naked lol
The sleeping is such a luxury now! And it won't improve once the baby gets here!

The oh and I have already agreed on taking shifts when the baby is born. We didn't do it with DD since she would wake up every 2 hours. Was just horrible! I hope this one is a better sleeper!

When are your next scans ladies?x

That's great news! Yay! I definitely think that listening to your body in pregnancy is at least as important as following expert advice, so great that you are eating normally and baby is doing well and she's getting ready with a good position!

Like Kitana said, I have also heard a few stories from friends where scans totally miscalculated size. So think positive, tell baby that she has all the nutrients available to grow, and we'll keep fingers crossed for your consultation.

Oh yeah, sleeping has become a bit of a challenge for me too! I've sort of figured out a special pillow arrangement that keeps my head and shoulders a bit elevated so I can breathe better and not feel acid reflux. Then as long as I keep switching sides, it doesn't give me a sore neck or back. I've completely given up on sleeping on left side only. When OH and I did a birthing course, the teacher said it's fine to sleep on either side, especially if you are switching sides or getting up to pee, etc. and your top is a bit more elevated. But even with that, I wake up from the baby kicking in my ribs or from Braxton Hicks during the night :( So if I feel super sleepy during the day, I try to get a nap!

@Kitana that's great that your OH is on board with helping in the night! There's a bunch of YouTube videos about tricks to help the baby sleep longer hours in the night, maybe worth a try? I'm a pretty sour person when I don't get enough sleep so I wonder how that will all go for me..

Oh, I can't believe it's just a few more weeks! I will have a checkup with my midwife next week and then probably go for a scan a week later, at 37 weeks. I hope OH and I get to enjoy the holidays, spend some time relaxing with family and friends and then I'm ready for the baby! My mom had both me and my sister naturally at our due dates and on OH' side him and sis sister were also both right on time so I am hoping I won't have to wait after my due date.

Hey ladies,
I had my final scan on monday.
Baby is head down engaged and all looks well. I'm just below the 50% mark but it's been consistently that way plus with my other 2 being classed as smaller babies there is no concerns at all. So no more scans needed now. Baby weighs around 5lb6oz now but I never trust them estimates.
Only thing that did worry me a little, when we said good bye, the sonographer turned around and said " enjoy the rest of your pregnancy - the next couple of days " I really hope he was joking with that.

Everyone around me is joking that baby will come Christmas. I'm adamant it won't come till the new year but still think I be a bit early. We will wait and see. Officially it's only 33 days till due date anyway.

Sleep is a luxury these days. My back, especially at night time is that bad I wake up crying because of the pain.
Yesterday I fell asleep on the Sofa and OH woke me after a bit because he was worried as I had tears streaming down my face. Again, caused because of the severe pain.
My right leg is pretty much numb all the time now and on top I'm getting cramps in my left one now too...
Oh pregnancy is so much fun.... NOT

Hospital bag has my pyjama in so far and that's it. I really need to get a move on Haha the baby bag has some nappies and wipes in, again, really need to get a move on now.

Can you believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by? Maybe it's just me, but I'm still in disbelief how close we are now.

Great that the baby is in position! And guessing the actual birth date is so random! At my baby shower, this was one of the games - everyone got to come up with their guess for when the baby will actually be born :D We shall see if someone gets it right....

Sorry to hear that you have such back back pain... maybe OH can help you with some massage? Does it feel more like muscle cramps in your back or more like pinched nerves/compression? A good friend of mine who is a doctor suggested that I take some extra magnesium for - it's considered one of the most safe supplements during pregnancy and can help with muscle cramps and even Braxton Hicks (which I get sooo many of). I've only started taking the magnesium today,I hope it will help.

I also started packing my hospital bag and only got halfway :D... but it's on my to do list for this weekend to finally finish it!

I have a growth scan Monday at 11.30am as I went to the midwife friday and my bump hasn't grown. Xx

The pain will be over soon @vampysgirl !x
That's what I tell myself anyways, it's how I get through the days because I have no more pain-free days since a few weeks, aside from the spd, now my left foot is painful with every step I take, sometimes the right one too! Whyyyyyy?! The nerve pain has not reappeared since Wednesday so I hope it will stay away now.

@Zara96 I don't think you should worry about your bump, it doesn't grow that much anymore. If I didn't go see a midwife and only a GP or gynaecologist, there would be no measuring of the bump anyways. I used to have such a small bump with my first and people never thought I was 8 months if I told them. We all have different bodies anyways! On the plus side you will get to see your baby again soon!x

I am really looking forward to see her again but do you know if my bump hasn't grown does that mean the baby hasn't grown? I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and some people I have spoke to said they might start me off tomorrow is this true as it is all new to me ? The midwife said baby head is right down now and I have been getting stabbing pains down below even more so when I am moving around. I am just anxious now all the time incase her movements have changed and I dont notice or I'm thinking yes she fine her movements have been normal then sometimes I doubt myself. Xx

They would only start you off, if there is any reason why you can't go further
Just because bump didn't increase, doesn't mean baby didn't grow.
It could be, that there is still plenty of room, plus baby is going further down now anyway. Hence you'll get the stabbing pain or fanny daggers how I like to call them. Just look forward to seeing your precious baby again and don't worry.
Problem is, they always go by an average of something. As soon you're slightly out the norm, they make you worry.

They've done it to me when they said baby is measuring too small but when I explained that all my babies, born full term, have been small, all of a sudden it was ok.
Just because I'm nearly 6" tall and a big lady, doesn't mean I produce 10lb babies. My oldest was 6lb10 and my second was 6lb9.

On other news, I've finally packed babies hospital bag haha. Now only have to do mine and I'm all ready.
All the clothes have been washed and a chest of drawers is coming in the week, so I can put it all away.

It does make you wonder why they do it.
Especially when they also say, to not stress and stay relaxed...

Do keep us updated what they say at the scan

It does especially when people suffer with anxiety aswell it's not good. I will let you know what they say today. Hope everyone else is doing ok. We all have not long left now scary how fast time has gone in our pregnancies. X

So annoying that they make you worry like that @Zara96, don't let them get to you.
I just went to have a scan and get tested for streptococcus in case I need antibiotics at birth, and during the scan the gynaecologist said that they can't measure the baby that well anymore and not to get worried in case it's off by a week or more. She said the leg is usually the only thing they can still measure correctly but the rest is a bit more difficult due to the baby getting so big and squished in there.
I hate how they make women worry for no reason! They have no idea how some of their comments can impact our sanity like that!

In any case, baby was turned a bit for the first time in 22 weeks, so we could see her profile again. Soooo cute! Can't wait to meet her now!
Next week I will visit the maternity ward with the midwife to see where I will deliver! So exciting!

I saw my ante natal consultant this morning.
And he decided that I will get induced at exactly 40 weeks if I haven't gone into labour before.
He also said, I have to see my midwife every week now rather then every 2.
So, 14.1 will be my definite induction day if baby is too cosy in there...:cheer:
