***January 2017 mummies!*** 3rd Trimester

Love the Cotswolds! How lovely! I can't wait to take the babies on UK holidays. I haven't been around the UK much in recent years.

Uh they keep sticking their fingers into my ribs. It's really freaking me out, I wish they wouldn't! TMI alert: Last night I had a traumatic toilet episode, and my "dodgy" tummy still hasn't cleared up :( midwife didn't seem too concerned though, she just said drink lots to stay hydrated so that's what I am doing.

Hope the election goes ok tomorrow. I didn't think Brexit was going to happen in a million years, so I don't really know what to think about this one. xx

I hate it when it gets dark early in the afternoons, its so depressing! I always put candles in the fireplace when the clocks go back to cheer me up and make me feel cosy.

Sometimes I'm ok walking and other times its so uncomfortable, yes it must be all about the position the babies are in! My shoes still fit but I was having trouble lacing my converse! Now its so cold I have gone into my pull on boots, phew!

I can still wear my winter coat but can't do it up further than the chest so have looped a hair band around the button hole and button in the middle and then belt a scarf over the gap to keep the cold out!

Blueflower, ooh I see. I'm not usually one for superstitions, but I can only imagine the heartache of long term ttc, so I'm definitely willing to do anything to give someone a glimmer of hope. Actually, I don't think we've ever asked you much about your ttc journey and I wondered about it in tri1 because of your signature, but felt rude asking. Do you mind talking about it or prefer not to?
I figured this was a pregnancy thread and didn’t want to dwell on what had gone on before but if anyone wants to read my TTC journal, click on: http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/ttc-journals/431558-getting-pregnant-against-odds-twins-please.html
Its quite long but you could read the first page and then the last bit in April this year!

In a nutshell I didn’t get the chance to try for a baby until I was nearly 39 as I didn’t meet DH till I was older and then he wasn’t ready, but I didn’t think it would take more than a year! I came off the pill in 2011 but nothing happened so started the ball rolling with investigations in 2012. After a lot of waiting, painful/invasive procedures but no reason why it wasn’t happening, we decided to start treatment at a local clinic. We started off with clomid & scans in 2013 but all 3 goes were BFN. Then we had 2 lots of IUI, both BFNs. Then IVF 2014 BFN, IVF#2 with extra daily injections BFN, more tests then IVF#3 2015 with immune protocol, intralipid infusion etc BFN. IVF#4 with chromosome screening in London: all the embryos were chromosomally abnormal so no transfer. IVF#5 April 2016 with donor eggs BFP finally!

It was a very long emotional journey and it is interesting to read my journal back to see all the ups and downs. Even with the last go that worked, there was a tense time when the donor hadn’t potentially produced enough eggs to share which was unexpected as she was 9 years younger than me & I always produced 15-19 each time! We didn’t know it was going ahead until the actual day of egg collection & I had to start my injections either way!

One of the worst things was seeing all our friends have their first then 2nd babies whilst we seemed to keep being pushed to the back of the queue.

A lot of the ladies I was on the LTTTC boards with eventually got pregnant & have even had their babies, there are only a couple who haven’t. But there’s still hope. One is pregnant with donor eggs at the same stage as me, 2 more have recently got to Tri 2, one has a recent BFP and I’m still praying for a couple more!

Oh blue, I never realised how much of a struggle you have had to get the twinnies ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think I'm more nervous about the US results than I was about our referendum :(

The idea of either of them being president makes me terribly worried ... Xxx

Abi I agree ! Didn't really have the pick of any good bunch did they ! Felt that with our government too! Although seems however we vote here if they don't like the result they try and change it anyway ! X

Oh wow Abi so you all did daylight savings last week. Cool. We just did it yesterday, but a couple of states don't observe daylight savings time. Arizona is one and the others are Hawaii, the eastern time zone portion of Indiana, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not observe Daylight Saving. All of the other states do. :)

Yup, I agree Rhiandell, I think there's no use for daylight savings time anymore now that we have electricity. LOL. Thanks for the good luck about tomorrow. Yeah I think people are going to go crazy if Trump wins LOL. Yup, I'm like that with my back too just walking to the mailbox is a chore.

Laura what is Brexit? :)

Oh wow Blue, I never realized that! :hugs:

I agree Abi! I don't really like either candidate, I had to pick the lesser of 2 evils LOL! I think Hillary is better than Trump, but if Hillary was up against someone other than Trump, I would not have voted for her. I think people will go crazy no matter who wins tomorrow!

Papermoon shame they can't keep Obama in for another term until someone else comes along lol! Just can't see trumps wife as a First Lady for you guys either ! If Hilary gets in what will bill Clinton be called ? Random I know but it's always been First Lady hasn't it & will she be your first female president?

I had my First are they natural or are they IVF today asked by a complete stranger in mammas & papas ! I'm happy to share my journey and I'm proud of how we have got here with our IVF but I still think it's such a personal question to ask a complete stranger in a shop lol!!

That would have been a good solution, seems awful someone good has to stop just because he's done his time! What was Dennis Thatcher called? Ha ha!

Bloody rude! Fair enough when they ask if you have twins in the family they are also asking if they are IVF but that's a step too far!

Gosh blueflower, what a long journey you've had in getting your twins. It must be so special to finally be preparing for your long awaited babies! Do you think you want any more children, or is this you done? I am also intrigued about the egg donation thing.. do you get to pick whose eggs you have, or is it an anonymous bank kind of thing?

FBTTN8079, people are so nosy! I think most of us would never dream of asking such a personal question! I am 24 years old, but I look a bit younger and I still get asked if they are IVF. I've even had a few sonographers ask that, which makes me wonder about their medical knowledge because they know I'm having identical twins rather than fraternal ones!

Papermoon, brexit (Britain + exit) is what the media have dubbed the referendum vote that the UK had earlier this year about whether to remain in the European Union or not. Britain voted to leave, although it was a pretty close vote. It's quite a big deal and pretty much all the news has talked about ever since over here, other than the US election of course.

I nearly asked the woman I bought our cot bed off that but didn't lol. I always wonder it about twins when I see them. Maybe she asked as she had struggled too and could relate to you? It is quite personal to ask though which is why I stopped myself with the lady I bought cot bed off lol!

That reminds me of what someone said to us at toby carvery a few weeks ago. Some will know from my journal etc but we started ttc December 2013, had quite a bit of help from the clinic and we've had multiple losses. When we got Imogen we did iui with injectibles (I can ovulate on my own but only one of my tubes is clear and also have pcos so she wanted to be sure I would have a good chance before putting me on the other meds and I had horrid side effects from Clomid so consultant agreed we could do injectibles but they would only fund as part of an iui cycle
.was a right stress with funding and sorting out a plan of treatment but thats another story lol) and then I had steroids, metformin, progesterone to help prevent another m/c. I'm 23 and my husband is 26 but we do look quite young. Anyway we were sat at a table and a woman in around her 50s kept giving bump horrid looks. Then she said to her husband something along the lines of "Teenage pregnancies are so common these days. You'd think with all the stuff available this wouldn't happen and theyd know the risks of doing such things." I didn't say anything lol I didn't know what to say! And so what if I had been a teenager and she'd been a suprise.. was just so mean of her. I wish I had said something loudly to OH like" did you know pregnancy was a risk when you gave me those injections and handed your sperm sample over to be inseminated because I didn't" lol. Think some people don't think before speaking!

Lol Laura all my sonographers apart from at the clinic have seemed to think I had IVF not IUI and we had sex 2 days before the IUI as well.. Imogens always measured a few days ahead giving due date the 26th Jan. But sonographers and even sometimes midwife have gone off the 29th Jan because "IVF dates cannot be wrong". I've tried many times to explain but no one listens lol! They assume the IUI on my notes is IVF. So off dating scan and every other scan she's 26th and off iui she's 29th lol. Xx

I always wanted loads of children but this was so difficult that I doubt we’ll be able to have any more. We wouldn’t do the donor thing again as it was so expensive and ivf is stressful, we would be content with 2 children! And I doubt it would happen naturally if my eggs are rubbish. :(

I registered on the egg sharing programme in April 2015 before we had the chromosome testing and got a match on 23rd December last year! The donor and her partner couldn't afford ivf and needed donor sperm so agreed to share her eggs and we paid for both ivf cycles! She has similar characteristics to me which is why we were matched.

That's terrible! I would so have wanted to put her straight.

Egg sharing is such an amazing thing! Xx

How interesting blue... Can I ask , do you have to like, but the eggs you want? Or are they donated for free?

I can't believe people actually ask twin parents if they are natural or IVF! I get annoyed enough with the 'was he planned?' questions -.-

We are getting giddy about having Squig here now. Growth scan tomorrow so hoping for good news! Also hoping I don't pass wind while in the room as I have done previously from having the probe pressing me haha as my wind is pretty awful right now... Tmi I know...!!!!

Not sure what you mean? We paid for the donor's cycle as well as mine so we got half of the eggs she had collected. People abroad do sell their eggs to a donor bank and you can also get altruistic donors or relatives can donate to you.

Good luck with growth scan, it's so exciting! Ours was postponed from today to Wednesday which is annoying as that day I have my jabs, Dr appointment and our antenatal class in the evening so a really busy day. And work of course!
