***January 2017 mummies!*** 3rd Trimester

Yes Sarah I went into the assessment unit on Monday, i'm still not feeling her anywhere near as much so I am certain that she's moved positions. It was playing on my mind though and i'm very glad I got seen so go with your Mummy gut lovely :)

An old guy from the Air Ambulance just knocked by for donations and casually claimed to be psychic - he said that baby would be here in 6 weeks hahaha! He also said she was a boy though - bless him!

Hope you have an amazing time tonight Thumbs! Thoroughly jealous! We're about to go to the Cotswolds for a couple of nights and my partner is being such a grumpy tit.. Really think he's the pregnant one sometimes with his mood swings :wall2: Doing my head in!

I think I am being a worrier ! Babies have been quiet today so mum listened on the doppler for me, think twin 2 may have shifted slightly as heartbeat wasn't in the usual place and wasn't as loud & it's usually twin 1 that is more muffled with their anterior placeta but I still can't seem to relax, I know that this isn't their main wriggle time & I heard both heartbeats this afternoon on the doppler but I'm paranoid they should be wriggling much more ? x

Try a cold can of coke or something sugary to see if it gets them moving? Works for mine, usually, although I don't really like fizzy drinks.

The leaflet on reduced movement here says to go for a walk, drink something cold and lie down for 2 hours and if still not much movement (less than 10 per baby), then call and get yourself seen. I've been two or three times already to be seen and they're really nice about it, although be warned it's been about a three hour wait each time I've gone xxx

That's brilliant that you have a Mothercare over the road so can buy gender specific clothes when they are born Sarah!

I would go to the hospital to put your mind at rest. I usually only feel mine twice a day as they are very quiet when I'm busy working! But if I think I haven't felt one of them that day he always wriggles to let me know he's ok! If not I'd go to the hospital to check. x

Cold fizzy drinks works for me too and chocolate lol!
Defo worth going if worried though.
How do you guys tell which twin is which lol? I feel Imogen all over my stomach at each side etc, do twins tend to stick to one side each? Xx

Haha Kate about the psychic! That's too funny.

So my two have been head down practically all pregnancy, and then for the past 2 weeks, they've decided to stay head up. Monkeys need to get themselves back into position! I won't be happy with them if they stick like this, not least because it's a lot more uncomfortable and causing me heartburn - I would also like the option of vaginal birth. Any other twin mums going to try and push? I will go for a section if they say it's safer, but hoping to try. xx

They've got a thin membrane between them, so twin one is on the left and twin two on the right for me. That said, they tend to both snuggle together in the middle with their heads together (kicking one another) so I can't always tell which is which. xx

Oh gosh thats sooooo cute Laura! Have any of you twin mummies had/having 4d scans? Bet they are adorable.

How do you know what position babies in? At my 25 week 4d scan they said shes head down but I couldn't tell just from feeling now how she is laid lol. I feel kicks/punches in both ribs and bladder and can't tell what limb it is or anything. She sometimes sticks something out thats hard and a load of pressure which I guess is head or bum but I never know haha xxx

I had a scan yesterday and I have been having them fortnightly since 16 weeks to check for growth because they're sharing a placenta. Oh and I've had 4D scan but they never cooperate properly, so I haven't been able to get a snap of them in the same shot xx

Awww the little monkeys haha. Are they identical then? :) xx

Mine were one above the other at 20 week scan, like in bunk beds! Then next month one on left and one on the bottom, last scan both heads up. Twin 1 is attached lower down than twin 2 but they do move round. I can usually feel kicks on each side and the midwife showed me how to tell which hard bit is the head? You can put your fingers either side and move them like a ball in your tummy!

I had a 3d and 4d scan but only got pics of twin 2 as twin 1 was hiding both times! Twin 2 looks like DH!!

Ladies who have stopped working already, how much maternity leave are you taking?

Oooh I've done the thing where I've pressed on a hard bit and I can feel pressure somewhere else so guessing it was moving her lol will that be head then? I wasn't sure if it could be bum or head or what haha!

I left my job when I moved and then got hg so didn't get another but I was working long enough to get maternity allowance which I get until start of August. She'll be about 6 months then xxx

Yes! I am hoping I'll be able to tell them apart quickly! It takes me like 7 episodes of the Apprentice to remember any names.

Blueflower, doesn't answer your question really but I'm on indefinite mat leave because I left my job in HK to move back. I was thinking I'd take 6 months - 1 year though, or start back part time when they're 6 months. Depends on money and the babies really. What is your plan? xx

That's so exciting!! They'll be adorable! Are you going to go for the whole matching outfits thing etc? Xx

I'll make sure they don't clash, but I won't subject them to matching. MIL is disappointed lol. xx

Oh yes I remember now! That’s good you can just get a new job when you are ready. I am taking a year off and might not go back depending on DHs job and how I feel. He works very hard so we could manage but there may be redundancies so I have to keep my options open. My job wouldn't pay for double childcare as well as everything else though but I expect he'd find a new job quickly. I have worked for 22 years so it would be nice to just be a parent now, people say I might get bored but we'll see! I was a teacher for 10 years & love being around children and can't wait to be with my own without a curriculum to adhere to! Just domestic stuff instead haha!

The midwife on our twins workshop said she painted one of her boys toenails for a year to tell them apart! And if one runs past naked now at age 12 she doesn't know which it is! I think dressing children the same isn’t fashionable now luckily! I was dressed the same as my younger sister, it was so embarrassing!!

Has anyone got any free stuff from Bounty yet?

Thanks all! Will enjoy myself as much as I can.

It's funny what you say about being amazed I'm travelling at this stage, Laura... I was referred to as 'that pregnant lady' by a total stranger yesterday and all of a sudden I'm starting to feel like one! Amazing what a difference 5 days can make.

I just looked at the thread blueflower and I have no idea what it's about! I am very confused. Why are people sending yellow booties to each other and what are they rubbing them on??

Haha it explains it on the first page! Its an old wives tale that if a pregnant lady gets some yellow booties (or gender neutral baby socks) and rubs them on her bump then sends them with good wishes to a lady trying to conceive , then the recipient sleeps with them under her pillow she will become pregnant!
I got some from Cherrybelly in 2014 & it took me till 2016 to get pregnant but it has been quicker for others! I have now sent mine to Phoenixgirl who I was with in the LTTTC section for a while as she is in the middle of an IVF frozen transfer cycle.

Sorry that I've not been posting lately - I've been lurking but haven't had much to update about.

Rhiandell, sorry to hear about the pre-eclapsia, especially on top of everything else. Really hope it doesn't worsen for you.

I'm generally feeling much better since I've been on iron tablets (thankfully I don't seem to get any side effects) but my pubic bone area has been absolutely killing lately! It feels like it's been bruised. I have to keep getting on all fours, on my elbows with my bum in the air, to get baby to move down out of my pelvis and give me a bit of relief!

Having a bit of mummy guilt this evening. When we started TTC, I thought a lot about how it'd affect our little girl and I think I got a lot of the guilt/other emotions around it out around then...and honestly throughout pregnancy I've mostly thought about how lovely it'll be for her to have a sibling and felt fine about it...but this evening it's hit me that she's only got a couple of months left of being an only child and how we've recently stopped breastfeeding and she's in her own bed...She's also become a total daddy's girl which I've gladly let happen because it's easier for me to let him do everything with her when he's home...but I'm going to try to really soak in these last few weeks with just her and give her as much attention as possible, even if I'm tired and achy etc. Just feeling a bit rubbish about how much I have been saying no to picking her up and getting down on the floor to play with her...

Anyway! Tomorrow's my last photo shoot before having a break and I'm sooo looking forward to just winding down for winter/Christmas and then having a baby!!
