***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

I can't believe it's been so long since your last appointment- I've had a 20 week consultant appt, a 24 week, a 28 week mw appt and have one booked in for 32 weeks- it's like I'm a first time mummy again (which obviously I don't mind). But I definitely haven't had less spots this time.

Will you put your cat in a cattery for the day? Our cat goes outside so we were able to leave him while he hid at the flat then brought him over last night. He's now hiding because "the monster" is playing!!!!

Hope everyone else is well? Xxx

I moved during my pregnancy with ds, that was bad enough, you girls are brave :)
Have fun at the mw carnat! I've noticed my bp is consistently raised at the consultant clinic, maybe I've got hierarchical grade related white coat syndrome. Seriously my dad is the same though, perfect readings at home then they rocket!

I went to my local Sands pregnancy support group last week and there's a private midwife who attends. She's great and we talk openly about previous labour's and pregnancies. Well she said that because I had diamorphine with ds I wouldn't be offered it again, it would be pethidine. She said out of the two diamorphine is better for pain and pethidine makes you more confused so you don't care about the pain. Anyone else heard this? I did use gas and air and a tens before which I liked but just wanted to know my options.

I have had 3 scans [in addition to anomaly scan] during the 13 weeks but it's been a bloody long time without seeing anyone for myself??

I am sure all is OK, just get so worked up before having my BP taken, ended up in tears last appointment  it's never actually been a problem? It always comes down after a few readings so I don't actually have high BP!

Meg, never heard that about Diamorphine before - as it you can't have it if you've already had it?? Not sure about the Pethadine either? They are similar though?

Want to avoid anything other than G&A this time (had Diamorphine with James), by the time I remembered my TENS last time I was too far along for it to be any real use!

As for the cat, she is such a highly strung (AKA spoilt) puss that I think a day in the cattery might upset her too much. My just close one of the bedrooms off and keep her in there - and get everything put in big bedroom and move a few bits later?

CBA with anything today, went to a BBQ / bonfire thing yesterday for my Mummy's 60th and an afternoon running round after a 2 year old has wiped me out.

Aw Nat, white coat hypertension can be a bloody nightmare. Have you written down some home readings to take with you? That way you've got so,ethe to show it IS affine if you get raised readings with MW.

Really don't envy those of you moving at this stage - we moved when I was 10 weeks and I just remember being so exhausted I was in tears every five minutes! The thought of doing it now would break me, hope OHs are looking after you all and that you are taking it easy as much as poss!

News to me about the different drugs too. I'll ask the consultant on tuesday, maybe a crazy local policy, or might have changed now. The private mw hasn't worked in the NHS for two or three years now.
I'm planning to stay clear of them if I can but want to at least know what might be a good option for me if I need it.

Talking of moving, my OH has this crazy idea of putting our flat on the market in February. Can anyone give me any advice to try to persuade him to do it a few weeks later?

I can just imagine someone coming for a viewing just as baby has got to sleep and the flat is a mess, but it has to be a bad idea for more than just that - can anyone help me out here? xx

The market picks up again really nearer July august time tc, or it does in Scotland anyway. That's when we'll gear up to sell our other house. Either that or viewings by appointment only?

Just tell him you don't want to until baby is a few months old (as opposed to a few weeks!)

He's said it's his flat and the decision is made and if I don't like it, I'll be homeless (or words to that effect). I'd like to move before the baby can crawl as this place isn't child-friendly.

But I just know that everyone says that having a new baby (especially first-time round?) can be very challenging and to combine two of life's most stressful events at the same time sounds silly to me. But I don't know enough about what the practical difficulties of looking after a newborn are (other than no sleep!)

TC sorry sweetie but your OH is an arsehole.

It's not the first time you've posted something that has really made me think "whoa" about him and his attitude.

Its no-one else's business but he really should not be forcing you into making such big decisions using emotional blackmail like this.

I suggest you tell him you'll stop paying the mortgage from now on if this is the way he wants to be!

Agree with nat there hun, hope you're okay

I had two shots pethadine with Ellie and I didn't even know they'd given it to me! She was back to back so very painful but as not being aware of what's going on because of it I don't think that was the case for me.. I didn't have it with Jaycee and with both when I got to a certain point of pain I just was out of it, but there was no difference for me there tbh..

I think I've got OC :( itchy shoulders, arms and now my hands. Got mw app on tues so I'll see if I can get some tests done

Morning ladies, hope you're all well, haven't been here for a while so will have a read to see what you've been up to

Hugs Jayceesmumma :hugs:the itching can be maddening, but if it is OC just wanted to reassure you that the meds (ursodeoxycholic acid) are amazing for getting rid of it/reducing it (takes a few days to 'kick in') - also, even if it isn't OC, I'd recommend getting a prescription for aqueous cream with menthol in it as it has a cooling effect that can really take the edge off xx

28 week appointment done, as suspected BP was high (did it 3 times and it came down each time) so they aren't worried.

Just told me to pop to GP's and get it taken in a few weeks, and next MW appointment on 5th December.

Baby is fine, heart is 150bpm, she is head down and bum up.

My hospital has introduced a new test you have at 28w - it's called the glucose challenge test? - anyone else heard of it? Basically it's a mini GTT. So you drink the Lucozade and an hour later you have your bloods taken. If this shows up an issue you have the proper GTT [fasting, bloods before and after Lucozade]

Was a bit of a shock to the system - I hate fizzy drinks at the moment - and meant my appointment took well over an hour.

Hi,

Please can I be added? I've just moved over to Tri 3. I'm due on the 29th Jan. We're expecting another little girl who has been named Emily by our daughter Grace, who is 3 now.

Thank you!

Jo.

Welcome Jo!
I remember reading some estimated weights a few pages back. I had my second growth scan today and at 28+2 baby is measuring 2lb 10oz. The sonographer assured me that's in line with dates. How fast do babies gain weight in tri 3?

Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm just getting ready to head out nightshift. Can see it far enough. Still last lot of nights till end of next year!

Hi Jo and welcome!

Jolly I hope you're now feeling a bit settled into your new place.

I've had a bit of a day of it- had a needlestick injury at work and spent 3 hours in a&e waiting to see a Dr who then dismissed it as only a minor risk and didn't want to take it any further. Feel slightly reassured but not completely.

On the positive I've got a growth scan tmw morning so I get to see bump again!!! Also have an appointment with the consultant afterwards so will ask him about the needlestick injury. Bring on tmw morning!
