***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Girls, I'm after advice.. So as some of you might have seen from my previous posts I have polyhydraminos (excess fluid) and in the last few weeks I've been feeling the effects of this mainly breathlessness - however in the last couple of days I literally feel unable to breathe properly at times and struggle to stay standing for even a little while (hard with two young kids!) - also I've been having really strong braxton hicks the last few hours where my stomach goes rock hard and loosens up (no pain or regularity) ... Have any of you experienced this? I still feel baby kicking.. I'm worried though - I've researched all sorts of horrible risks associated with polyhydraminos like prolapsed cord and still birth!

Thanks tinselcat! I've not seen any if those charts before, I like comparing to all the averages. Consultant would soon tell me if there's anything to worry about.

Jan I've only just realised I'm getting the odd braxton hicks. I'd think it'd be worth discussing some monitoring for peace of mind.

have a lot of you had your 3D ultrasounds yet? or are you going to?

I'm going to mine when I'm 30w5d so he'll be chubbier hehe :P so it's not as creepy, can't wait .. it's on november 21st :)

Jan, sorry didn't see your post last night.

If you are in any doubt call your MW / Triage and let them decide what you need to do.

Hope all is OK?

And stay away from Google, it's the devil.

X

Thanks Carnat- they seemed to have stopped now (always the way) but I'll take your advice should they start up again thanks hun xx

Hi,

I had my 3d/4d scan last weekend, she was 26+3. I got some really clear pics, a lovely profile one where she's resting her chin on her hands! She also had her feet up by her head most of the time and was sticking her tongue out then sucking her toes!!

I had a 3d/4d scan with Grace at about 31 weeks, I think these are clearer of Emily, perhaps as she has a bit more space!

I'm not going for any 3d/4d. I didn't with ds and the cost is just too much for me just now with lots of other outgoings. Our hospital seem to only do the standard us scan. That's not to say if someone gifted a 3d/4d I wouldn't jump at the chance :)

I'm another person not doing any 3D scans, although my brother kindly offered to pay for one, I feel it's a bit wasteful (and the greyscale ones mostly look like aliens!) Just have to settle for the 2 standard ones I've already had!

Hey there ronnie - I haven't noticed the stretch marks yet but given how massive my tummy feels they are surely going to turn up any week now!! I had to give up moisturising quite quickly as it was bringing my bump out in a rash :(

Jan - the breathlessness sounds like it might need checking out? I've had some braxton hicks for a while but now when they come I try breathing out long breaths through my mouth as practice for labour (a long sustained out-breath through your mouth is supposed to help reduce pain/discomfort).

Welcome Jo.

Jan, I'd ring the midwife for some advice re: the breathlessness. It's always best to be safe.

I saw the midwife today for my anti-d injection as they couldn't do it last week due to illness. Baby is still head down, although I am still measuring 28cm fundal height, which is the same as last weeks measurement at my 28 week appt. Think my belly just popped so early second time around that it's finally settled down now. My arms are dead though, as had whooping cough and flu jab yesterday so not very comfy to get to sleep on. She wanted to do anti-d in one of my arms, but I got her to do it in my bum instead...can't face another jab in my arms as they are quite painful at the mo.

Can't believe that I only have a few days left before I hit 30 weeks. Time is just flying by!

Hi all

I had just noticed I think I am having a few Braxton Hicks! Tummy goes tight and makes me feel like I have eaten so much I'm stuffed!!

I have sympathy for the dead arms Ceecee-I had my jabs last Fri and took 3 days for my a muscles to stop aching!!

Woke up this morning with really aching hips again even though I have my knee suppor pillow-I still think it's the extra weight of laying on my side!

I'm not having a 4D scan either - we might have done if we had more cash floating about but it's something we can live without. I am however buying a nice new camera so we can take lots and lots of pictures when she arrives :-D

No 3d/4d for me either, but with getting all these extra scans don't feel like am missing out :)
Had quite a painful tummy and crampy ways and very uncomfy sleeping these last days, but think it's just a tummy bug?! Or at least that's what am hoping, baby still moving away like mad so that's good.
Hope everybody is well. Xx

We contemplated doing the 3D/4D scan, but now baby is so active I don't really feel the need for it and would rather spend the money on something else.

Anyone else found that nausea is making a re-appearance in tri 3? I vw had it for the last six days, am making sure I have a supply of boiled sweets to hand at all times, feels like I've gone back in time to the summer as that's how I got through tri 1!

No 4D scans for us, I find them scary!!!

Although one of my growth scans went into 4D and I burst into tears as bub's was so beautiful and not at all scary?

Still we wont have one as we didn't with James.

Feeling awful today, I am sure James is coming down with something (he has not eaten anything other than a few rice cakes since yesterday lunchtime - although he seems "normal" enough) I had him in with me last night and woke every time he so much as moved

He is with Daddy today and Daddy is much less neurotic than I am.

Ah bless him Carnat. I hope he's feeling a little better?

Oh girls I'm getting so fed up with this pregnancy... I hate to say it especially as I'm so desperately hoping he'll be ok with all he's facing once he's born - I've had such bad carpel tunnel, carrying extra amniotic fluid which makes me SO breathless, gives me bad headtburn too.. Now last night I got sick during my dinner (sorry tmi) so bad felt so rough and then I was woken in extreme agony with the worst leg cramp in my calf I cried my eyes out whilst my hubby desperately tried massaging it. I'm already struggling to sleep with the carpel tunnel and now I'm terrified tonight I'll experience the leg cramp again as I've seen it can happen in tri 3 especially at night.. So upset - sorry I'm being so negative today!!

Have any of you had this? Any tips?

Hope you're all ok x

Oh shame Jan sounds like you're having a rough ride of it....
I've started taking a precautionary gaviscon or two before bed as I get heartburn quite a lot and find doing that means it doesn't wake me up as often. I am also propped up with about 4 or 5 pillows at this point!

I get leg cramp / aches pretty much every night now I'm afraid...I massage my legs with mama mio leg gel before I go to bed which I think helps a bit...also my midwife suggested putting your feet into a bowl of cold water before you go to bed (not sure why but I just do what she tells me!) Goes without saying but make sure you're staying hydrated as well. I also use a pregnancy pillow and put that between my legs - don't know if it helps with the cramps/aches but definitely makes me more comfortable.

I find the leg aches the most frustrating part of not sleeping so I can totally sympathise! x

PS I also have carpal tunnel but it maybe isn't as bad as yours by the sounds of it...my midwife said all they can really do is offer wrist splints but they might actually disturb your sleep more than the sensation so just depends on what would work better for you? x

Ah thanks Taboo917 - not in a nasty way to you of course but I'm kinda glad to hear someone else has the same problems - at least it's not a worry for baby I guess! It's obviously normal too if we're experiencing it. I freaked out last night with the leg cramp it was awful and I really hope it doesn't turn into an every night thing! Thank you so much for the tips I'll be doing them tonight!! X

Hi everybody!
Always too much to catch up on :-) Sorry to those who are not feeling 100%.

How are we doing today? I'm enjoying lots of kicks after a quiet day from my boy yesterday.
After watching 'suprise suprise' on TV last week I'm now super paranoid about 'counting the kicks!'
We have this app on our IPad called 'my baby's beat' and you use the microphone against your tummy to pick up baby's heartbeat. It's only available to IPhone though unfortunately.
It recommends to use from 30 weeks but I've been trying since 12
Last night was the first time we picked it up really well and you can record it as well to listen back to!
Really recommend it but with all these things you have to take them with a pinch of salt.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm starting on the Xmas organisation of who's house on what day and lists to Santa etc. All a bit of a headache but i do love Xmas! Shame it'll be a sober one this year ;-) x

I hate to moan but I'm fed up too :-(((

I'm going to try and see the doc tomorrow about my SPD- was supposed to have physio yesterday but I'm really poorly so stayed in bed. Tried to go to work today and was so uncomfortable getting out of my chair, on top of the stinking cold that I can't take anything for!!! And I get no support at all :-(((

So I'm going to see a) if this is a chest infection (I have a v odd rattle that won't go when I cough) and b) if the doc will give me some time off for this SPD- I just feel totally minging right now, plus I feel like my ribs are going to snap when I cough, or my waters are going to break!!!

Sorry for the moan, I can't wait for her to be here now x
