February 2018 Mummies - the final hurdle

Our little boy arrived into the world at 5pm yesterday weighing 8lb 4oz after a 39 hour labour. I am exhausted but he is so worth it! No name just yet!

Congrats Kathryn! Great weight!

My girls arrived on Wednesday by CS at 36weeks. They’re so beautiful, 4llbs 11 and 5lbs 2. Should be heading home today x

Ahh Wednesday least I know it's normal then thank you! Hopefully eases soon!

Congratulations Kathryn...

Aww MrsLaw that's lovely! Congratulations!!! And only a days stay in hospital! Bonus! Xx

Congratulations Kathryn and mrslaw!

Wednesday I really hope they can sort it out, what a nightmare!

The head of maternity services for the health board called me back this morning. She was really apologetic and confirmed that it was their error which doesnt really help me....
Anyway shes saying that they cant move people from Monday or Tuesday because of complications which I obviously cant contest as I cant disprove.
She said she would see if she could get me a slot at the sister hospital but couldnt guarantee...

Just had a call back from her now and shes said that they can fit me in on Tuesday in Nevill Hall BUT there is a chance I could get bumped on that list. Also, someone got transferred to special care in Hereford from there last week as there were no cots - Im in South Wales so thats pretty far!

Shes guaranteed me that if I go to the original hospital on Wednesday i will 100% be having the section on that date. It isnt a normal list day apparently so I cant get bumped off. I might get delayed if there are emergencies but it will still happen on the Wednesday. Based on that, I think Im better sticking with Wednesday....

Im on the reserve list as well for Monday and Tuesday so if any of those women go into labour before hand, I can have their spot.

So bloody stressful.........

That’s beyond shit that Wednesday. It’s awful when you have expectations. But if any positives to be taken from it, they aren’t concerned about the health of your little person hence you being at the bottom of the stack. Which is something to be grateful for in this crappy situ.

I hope the weekend goes quickly for you xx

Tor I agree. Im trying to see it positively here in that baby will be even closer to due date so less likely to need any help.

Just so annoying!!!

Kathryn - congrats! You must be absolutely shattered after 39 hours!

Mrs law - any names?!

Aww more babies! Congratulations ladies!

I'm still waiting to hear if the midwife managed to get hold of the consultant today. If not it will be Tuesday.

Spent a bit of time planning and doing admin. It's like nesting with spreadsheets I guess.

Other than that, woke feeling sick and the bottom of my bump feels super bruised. I'm about to take a gentle walk with my OH to see if it eases off. It's not painful, just sore.

Wednesday: Hope they do fit you somewhere asap and you dont get bumped again. That would suck!

Congratulations Kathryn and MrsLaw!

Wednesday at least you know reasons why now and can have a plan.

Midwife appointment today, baby is fully engaged so hoping it waits until Wednesday, don't want an emergency section at this point!

I can't believe the crap they are giving you Wednesday. Honestly.... I thought I had it bad waiting in a corridor for 4 hours!!!

Such a cliche but once baby is here, all this will be so insignificant.

All I can say is compose your letter of complaint now, you won't have time come next Wednesday

X

Well actually Nat I thought id wait until I was in LOADS of pain the day after my section to start doing my letter haha! Really get the details down while being super irritable and irrational!

I feel for you Wednesday. I was devastated when they put my date back a week. But I thought of the extra cooking time and like you said tried to think of that as a positive. And to be honest we’ve had some feeding problems so I think being born at 37 weeks would have made that worse.

Both you and carnat have had a crappy nhs service on this front! I’m quite lucky in that the Trust I work for have excellent maternity services. It’s about the only part of the Trust to be commended on its performance. And I’m a fairly senior manager (I make sure to tell whoever is looking after me this  ) and I think people sometimes think twice about messing me about - the nursing staff at least, the consultants do what they like

Congrats to all new mummies. Our list of ‘delivered’ is growing :)

Back from growth scan and little madam is extended breech :/ Estimated to be just over 6lb now, the sonographer estimated that if I went to term shed be over 8lb!

Paperwork for my elective has been signed and I have to ring up at 7am on 9th February to find out if that'll be the day I go in :/ they apparently go through my old scar, with a higher risk of damaging my bladder or bowel :/ I really didn't want to hear that, definitely terrified now! Though he didn't mention anything about my gallstones..so I guess they'll be leaving me be for now :D blood test on 31st, midwife on the 1st, dentist on 2nd..february is gonna be one hell of a month!

Everything's really close..im actually getting scared now  :/

Congratulations Kathryn and mrs law!! Lovely news :-) hope the little Ines are doing well xx

Wednesday I can't believe the nitemare you are having!! Let's hope they can fit you in before Wednesday xxx

Beau glad to hear baby is fully engaged and ready to go!! Hang in in there for that csection!!

My hr director phoned me at 5pm tonight and they've finally agreed to pay my full maternity pay I am pleased to say, very relieved and can start looking forward now! Xxx

Ruth that is excellent news! So pleased and relieved for you xx

Sebbies - I wouldnt have wanted that info on the op either!! I never understand why they go into such detail - I always just tell them to do what they have to and dont tell me until its over!

Tor - exactly, I feel the same. Baby will be 39+4 so hopefully pretty good at feeding etc. Have you named your lovely boy now?!

Oh Ruth. What a relief!
