February 2018 Mummies - the final hurdle

I'm so ready to finish work and I'm only 29+6! I'm planning on staying until i'm 38 weeks and leaving on 9th Feb. I had considered using all of next years holidays and finishing at 34 weeks, but I'm a Financial Controller and we have our audit in Jan / Feb, so I really need to be around for that....I'm dreading it!

Popped up to the hospital and got monitored the other day, baby was absolutely fine, but was kicking into my placenta, hence why I couldn't feel anything.

Got a stinking cold right now too, first one I've had in years! Struggling with not being able to take anything for it though.

Skip the audit.. haha. I’ve brought mine forward to miss the last of the budget setting process

ladies is your washing done?

I havent done mine yet, feel so disorganised now. Starting to stress abit

What washing?? For the baby? Lol... it hasn’t got any clothes so no. And it hasn’t got anywhere to sleep either thinking on it.

Thanks guys :) it just makes me worry as I had no adverse effects to the drink..i didn't even get a sugar rush! I can handle my sugar but that stuff was amazingly sweet..i was expecting some sort of buzz..but today I'm super sleepy :/ I dunno if that's connected at all! And I'm going to a concert tonight..im excited..and then back to work for my last shift on Saturday! And that's it..im on maternity leave :D

Oh gosh don't get me started on baby washing..ive not started anything yet! I haven't even got my cot yet :/, or a moses basket! I'm just hoping I'll have enough time after Christmas to quickly get one before she comes! I'm so disorganised this time around! With my first I had everything sorted by 32 weeks! How I managed that I have no idea! :/

LOL! You make me laugh. how are you not stressed?

I wish I was more laid back.

I’ve done it before. They don’t need much. Haha. I’m starting to think I should pack a bag or something soon but I can’t until my sodding husband has sorted out the nursery which he’ll do over xmas

First day back at work after 3 weeks off - Im not sure how I think Im going to manage until 39w when I am this uncomfortable at 32+6!

I wish I could! :wall2: I work for a German company and they like to get their audit out of the way the month after year-end...makes it super stressful! On the plus side we finished budgeting back in October, so don't have to worry about that any more!

No baby washing here either. Think we have everything we need though? Clothes wise (mainly second hand as my sister has a 7mo baby girl. Her first girl after 3 boys so there is a lot of clothes!!)

Washing was going to be my first job when I finish. Unless I end up with an earlier induction?

We have the crib (needs to be assembled) and we need to change the pram back to the carry cot part - and tell the poor 2yo she doesn't have a pram anymore

Car seat is at my parents. I have a pack of nappies and wipes and breast pads and maternity pads. Need to get some new pads for the TENS machine, and maybe a few dark nighties in the sales for labour.

I feel a lot more relaxed this time. I only started sorting things as my sister bought a suitcase of stuff round for me.

I have a little maternity leave list of things to do in the few weeks I have before baby arrives. It includes washing all of the clothes and bedding, deep cleaning the baby's room and some other nesting jobs :) I have been so busy in the lead up to Christmas with social events and singing with my choir that I haven't had a chance to start any of them yet.

My last day at work is 14th Jan but what with a week off over xmas I think I only have about 15 working days left hooray.

I had loads of intentions about what I was going to do on maternity leave when on my own with kid at school and husband at work. Like wash the clothes and clean the house and go swimming etc. I’ve just twigged I’ll only have 3 days on my own

I'm probably going to end up the same TOR.

Barring the child at school (older one will be, toddler won't)

I am thinking I'll have 2-3 weeks at home but I'm convinced they aren't going to let me go to 39-40 weeks.

Just ordered an Aptimal starter kit for the hospital bag.

I hope and plan to breastfeed (fed number 2 until she was 2y7m but didn't manage to BF number 1.) so i'm planning for every eventuality. If things do go pear shaped for any reason I want my OH with baby and she'll need something to drink??

We all have good intentions for maternity leave it seems!

Ive pulled my mat leave forward to 19th Jan now. 21 working days until I finish, and I will work from Home on Thursdays and Fridays. This should be doable! Xx

Do they not give you bottles of formula in hospital? I havent a clue as I breastfed but Im sure other mums on my ward were given glass bottles of formula

Iv finished work now feel really lazy I'm actually on sick this weekend though and then holidays so maternity starts the 10th January. I'm looking forward to hopefully having the whole of January at home to get the nursery sorted and everything I need!

I am not sure Wednesday. I was in for 36h with first (and was BF'ing but only lasted another few days after I got home. Then expressed for 8 weeks then I FF)

Was discharged after 6h with number 2, and was BF'ing.

I've heard some stories about women being made to feel bad about FF so I'd sooner spend the £8, just incase.

Hi Beth I've pulled mine forward to 19th Jan too! Was going to be 26th but I really don't think i'l cope that long! Going to work from home on Mondays xx

Not even vaguely happy right now.

As some of you know my employment has ended. So my income has too. I'm having issues getting paperwork to apply for MA because my ex employer is delaying my smp1.

On top of that OH has less hours over Christmas because he used his holiday to move house.

All was good. Baby was sorted with all except a travel system. An item that FIL said he had in his loft from other grandkids. All brand new.

So what little I had bought a nice crib and bouncer off eBay, and did Christmas.

All was good. Albeit a little broke. We could just swing things until baby arrives and tax credits kick in as long as my MA gets sorted soon. (I don't qualify for much I was part time.)

Anyway. Last night FIL says he will bring the pram next week. I got excited so he pulls up a pic. It's a freaking pushchair suitable from 6 months!!

So I am now stuck without a sodding travel system or car seat. We sat all night trying to work out the numbers and the next time he could get overtime and get us even enough for a second hand one is April when the holiday year begins.

Seething doesn't even cover it. I asked OH to check EXACTLY what it was back in August. We now have 2 months.

Sorry for the rant but men sodding suck.

Aw... sorry to hear that TS.

Can someone loan you a pushchair? A friend or relative? They don’t tag in it for long really. Would save you buying one?
