***August Mummies Final Hurdle! ***

Good luck for tommorow ladies will be popping in and out to hear of your new babies xx

Seems like the HV people in England are not much different of the ones in Belgium :-) They told me not to bike with my baby because 'what if you fall?' (well he has a helmet on and I'm quite careful as I don't like falling myself) and once we needed to see them for check-up and she started to explain about dental hygiene. All very well-meant advice, but completely opposite to what our dentist had said the week before.

Good luck to the ladies going in tomorrow! Can't wait to hear your stories. And I'm a tiny bit jealous cause you get to hold your babies tomorrow...

They are trained to follow a book of rules and they don't like it if you go off track or don't follow it word for word ... You will have your own techniques and methods, I just tell them what they want to hear, I never lie but I word it so that they are happy with it. They are very helpful when you need them to be though x

What MrsB said, they can be helpful at times. They got harper referrals before when the GP wouldn't, but at the same time they do follow a rule book and not all babies are the same. When harper had her 2 year check they said she should be toilet trained by now. It made me feel pretty rubbish like I was being lazy etc with doing it. I did start the next day. But being with friends with kids and other mums at play group it was clear that not many kids were actually toilet trained at 2, with a lot still in nappies at 3 years plus, but the HV made it out as if it was the norm! Like I said I only really go to them these days if they need weighing or I need advice as I've been brushed off by the GP (my surgery is totally useless when it comes to anything to do with children!) x

Ah ok shame they're not allowed to use their common sense & have to stick to rule I can see why they'd make you feel like poop sometimes.

Just be a little weary of them :) ... At the end of the day they are there to help and guide etc but just be a little cautious if you find something works that isn't in their rule book X

Good luck today ladies! Finally some of these August babies will be evicted! :)

Yay day 12 overdue and induction day has arrived! Just waiting for oh to wake up cook me a grill up and then I'll be heading in. I don't feel nervous yet though not in the slightest I just feel excited!

Good luck today ladies! Thread hopping but have been keeping an eye on how you've all been getting on - I went 10 days over with my first so feel the pain of those of you over due!
Hope all goes well - if any of you have a pessary will be interested to hear how you get on as I'm having that on 12th Sept :-) xxx

Good luck Summer, can't wait to hear your little bubba has arrived!

Due date tomorrow. Nothing happening here. Have a midwife app on Thursday so hoping for a sweep if he hasn't come before.

12 days, you did amazing, Summer! And now finally your waiting is over!

I have the opposite, Lullie: check-up tomorrow and due date Thursday. With my first I hated that last appointment. She had a bad day and told me she'd still see me after my due date without any sympathy. I hope she'll have other news this time (though she was wrong last time, it just wasn't nice) or at least be in a good mood!

Good luck today ladies, cant wait to see birth announcements and photos. So excited for you! Xx

I had the pessary both times and within 30 mins of having it contractions started. Pretty intense as I didn't have much of a gap between contractions and very quick labours both times. Last labour was 5h from having pessary to giving birth, literally pessary at 10.30 and gave birth at 15.15! Good luck xx

Oo thanks! Hope it works like that for me! If I haven't had the baby by the following day it will be c section so hoping it works! Xxx

Good luck today ladies ....... you can do it!
