*****August 2014 Mummies*****

Does anyone know what the difference is between trimester 2 and 3? I tried googling it but couldn't really see an answer.

I think trimester 2 starts when the baby is fully formed.

Morning all big meal round friends house last night so pretty much just slobbing in bed still, but must get up for "operation dismantle fitted wardrobes" which starts today.

Alan, I'm not sure but think there's only a few more things for baby to develop in tri3, other than that it's weight gain stage. All I know is how quickly it gets hard work, started tri3 full of energy and now a slow waddling tired thing within a matter of weeks. Get used to helping your wife with her shoes, I can no longer do my own laces up! Congrats on your boy.

Think better to have a gap between due dates for bump buddies or more likely to be in labour at the same time and be unable to do each others labour threads!

Hope everyone's enjoying the nice weather?

A trip to triage today as hasn't felt bubs much in last few days. As was well think this is just a quiet baby! Only thing was measuring 26 weeks but am 29 on Monday. Midwife said she's not worried as only a few cm out but I was measured as 28 cm a week and a half ago at midwife appt so appear to have shrunk rather than grown since then?! I pointed this out and she said maybe just measured wrong and my midwife could refer me for a growth scan if concerned. Def smaller than I was with my son thought 2nd babies were generally bigger? X

Hey hun- I know its worrying when these measurements don't show what we should be but I think there is a lot of inaccuracy tbh!..... It could just have been babies position either time making it bigger or smaller and although its common second babies aren't always bigger (kinda hoping mine isn't gonna b much bigger than Ethan at 9lbs!!).....When's your next mw appt?? When u sew her I would explain u r worried and obviously see what she measures u as- if your appt isn't for a while maybe just call and explain your anxious and maybe they will see u earlier to check on things?..... Ive always thought 2cm above or below the weeks is normal so your weren't too far off! Try not to worry too much- I know that's hard :-/

Hey guys,
Hope everyone is ok :) ,
Been busy at work again so catching back up I think we need to do this t-shirt thing with Boy or Girl and due date on people wouldn't know how else to start convo to make stupid comments!!
I have a day off today which is unusual for a weekend but so greatful for it as me and hubby haven't seen each other properly for weeks! If he's not at work I have been and if not that he's been away so we are going for a pub lunch and an afternoon out with one of our friends and our dogs :)
Ordering my pram next week :) been putting it off because everyone keeps saying about the old wives tale of not having pram in the house but have decided I'm not listening anymore I just want my pram :) xx
Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend :) x

Morning all, what a gorgeous day! Not moaning at all but...having real problems sleeping and staying asleep, I usually sleep on my right side but have been trying to train myself to sleep on the left as better for baby, I will be on that side when he is born and in the moses basket/cot but also because I get such bad pins and needles when I sleep on my right side. I woke on Thursday with really bad swelling in my hands, one was quite bad and I couldn't clench it, is this a passing thing or going to continue? Getting quite a bit of pain in my right hand, Dr mentioned carpal tunnel syndrome which is apparently quite common in pregnancy, I will read up on it. Just frustrating when I am soooo exhausted and can't stay asleep! I don't want to moan as I am so grateful to be having bubs :)

My wife sailed through the pregnancy up until the last couple of weeks. She is starting to get heartburn(she didn't even know what this was as she had never had it in her life), leg cramps at night, needs help getting up etc. She doesn't have a massive bump yet so waiting on things getting harder and harder.

Yes I have definitely noticed the change in the last couple of weeks

I agree def the last week i feel like im 39 weeks not 29!!

Donnah it does sound a little like carpel tunnel - try sleeping with hands hanging over bed (if thats possible) as helps reduce swelling and tingling sensation. Hard i know as im such a fidget in bed. Although wouldnt worry too much about which side you lay on - just get comfy. My mw told me its ok to sleep on back etc and with my spd thats how i sleep most nights due to painful hips x

Last day of the Babies R Us 20% off deal and thats me just finding. My bargain detector must have been broken. Have a crib, a Bumbo seat and a Lamaze Jumping Joey in the basket so far. My poor debit card might take a hammering.

Donnah I wouldnt worry too much about how you sleep. I tried sleeping on my left side and baby goes mad kicking all night I also started getting tingling and pins and needles down my left arm to the point where when I moved onto my right side I couldn't actually lift my arm over without support from my right hand! Also my hips would kill and I always end up pulling muscle in my tummy whenever I tried to get up! so now I just sleep on my right it's where I'm most comfy and baby won't start kicking till 7am also found my joints don't swell as much xx

Zoe- hope you have a lovely day with OH! ....Good on you re pram! We didn't have stuff in the house first time round but since most of it is here already coz of Ethan we have had to have it here really this time! V exciting getting a pram :-)

donnah- the hand symptoms do sound like carpal tunnel to me hun. If I remember my anatomy correctly it's due to the median nerve being compressed under the 'carpal tunnel' which is a band of fibrous tissue that goes across your wrist to hold tendons in place. In pregnancy with the extra fluid we retain it can cause the nerve to get squished due to the lack of space and this causes the pins and needle sensations. I don't think it will get better until after baby comes and the fluid dissipates (I sweated out tons of fluid after having had Ethan- even though it was November! It was amazing how much I sweated!!). If it's bad you can get resting splints to help- u would have to go via gp/physio/mw for these which I would say is perhaps worth it's interfering with your sleep! I know u said gp mentioned carpal tunnel- so I'm assuming they didn't offer u any advice or treatment?? Some women don't need anything but I do think if it is really stopping you sleep you need something to help!

You've probably read this link but thought I'd post it anyway- it's important to note if it's making your thumb feel weak, so keep an eye!
Hope that helps and that it doesn't worsen for you hun! Don't apologise for moaning- we all need to whinge! Pregancy is bloody hard work- especially at this stage!! xxxx

I bought a Lamaze Totem stacker off Amazon and now the Joey Jumper. I would happily take everything they sell though :)

Thanks for the add, girls slightly in front I see.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I have noticed pain in my hips during the night and in the mornings, it eases off throughout the day, I will see how it goes. The GP mentioned carpel tunnel but didn't make any suggestions or say anything else, I will just see how it goes. I read the link and it doesn't seem like there is much I can do. I will try sleeping with my arms hanging over the bed and see if I can sleep like that and if it makes any difference.

Thanks everyone :)

How do you get 20% off it's saying I need to register for the gold card but I won't let me do that.

I registered for a gold card. You put in your due date and tick the box and hopefully it lets you. Try just applying the code HSAVE20MAY at the checkout as well. You need to do that even with a gold card.

So after my funny turn the other day I'd been trying to talk to a mw about my iron levels coz I just don't feel the tablets r doing much and I'm feeling so pathetic and guilty about the lack of stuff I'm managing to get done on a day to day basis! Finally spoke to one this morning and I'm having my bloods done again tomorrow to check levels!...... I honestly don't know if this is just normal second time round with a toddler in tow or what!
Been lovely having OH to help out over weekend but it makes it feel like a long week ahead when Monday comes round!..... Roll on 2 weeks time when I'm on hols!

How have your weekends been?? Xx
