I went down to the hospital this morning, waste of time really :-/ midwife seemed like she couldn't really be bothered and seemed almost annoyed that I was there. She kept saying about 10 movements a day, one minute she said it's each individual movement that I should be counting, then she said it's each episode of movement- she said the fact id had two or three movements already that morning was very good and well on the way to the 'normal' 10 a day. I kept insisting that the movements I'd felt were nowhere near normal for my baby, which is why I was worried. The first 15 mins on the trace seemed to be picking up my hb more than baby's. We eventually found baby (mw left us to it and took ages to come when we pressed the buzzer) and apparently had a 'good trace' for 30ish mins. The machine was picking up loads of movements but I only felt 6/7 tiny little movements. She didn't want to listen to me when I said they weren't as strong as normal, and why was the monitor picking up so many when I couldn't feel anything - she just kept repeating that 10 movements in a day is what you should look for, and I'd already had almost that by midday so couldn't understand why I was worried.
She gave me a leaflet on 'how active is your baby' where it says "the important thing is to be aware of YOUR baby's pattern of movements" - no mention of 10 movements at all.
I've felt a bit more movement since, but still not quite as much as usual. On the phone, they said I'd have to go to the consultant unit if it was 2nd or more episode of reduced movement, so if it happens again I'd hopefully see someone different who is actually interested and listens!! I don't seem to be having much luck with mw's lately :-/
