And my last waffle on the matter is if you want to look for someone to blame for the state of some of the kids today don't blame the immigrants BLAME THE PARENTS

OMG did someone just hit the nail on the head with that comment... :rotfl: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Thats pretty obvious. How could immigrants affect kids? Its always the parents, you only have to watch an episode of Jeremy Kyle to prove that! :)

Im proud of being British and though I dint entirely agree with keslo I respect her opinon, I believe the men and women that died for this country are proud, otherwise why go, but i feel in some areas we as the uk are letting them down and i dont need to say why cos most of you already have!

Jerry springer is entertaining squiglet, jeremy kyleis a humourless, pointless little man who needs booting off tv - he bullies his guests and is the only one to shout 'on national tv' no other tv host does it

I think Jeremy Kyle is much more entertaing than Jerry Springer. Although I've not seen Jerry springer since I was at school, maybe it's changed.

lol, would explain the guests then!! didnt Trisha get done for that??

I am not being rude - but who says we can't celebrate our traditions. HAVE YOU SEEN THE SHOPS.

Also look at Christmas decorations thread I see no evidence of our traditions being stopped - a bit of a media frenzy if you ask me. Also Christmas will be on TV - GMTV, This Morning etc it will be everywhere I don't think such a high profile will be given to, Diwala Eide etc. I think people get too hung up on something that just isn't happening when you look at it really closely.

Also as far as I am aware Easter and Christmas are still bank holidays in this country.

BTW I think we should celebrate everything - anything for a good party I say.

i read in a quality newspaper like news of the world that Jeremy Kyle was a dirty old man trying to s*ag a school girl when she was doing work experience with him. And yes i believe everything i read :rotfl:

:( don't have ITV... so can't watch it.. I've seen some episodes on You Tube though...

:rotfl: Seen Jerry Springer though..

As far as i'm concerned,I'm European. If I have to specify, then I'm Irish. However we do have a good deal of Ukrainian and Polish blood so that's why i'd count myself more European amongst other reasons. However although I've spent quite a few years doing nothing but slag off various individuals in the government etc,I must say,I was bloody glad to be living in the UK when I got pregnant,as the help and support I got for being a teenage mum was brilliant. Also,I was glad of the NHS when i didn't have to pay 3 grand for my C section

And on the subject of Jerrys and Jeremys,I have only one thing to say.

JER-RY JER-RY JER-RY

that is all.

Blimey that Gemma girl has had a boob job hasn't she!

I read the majority of that article but being an atheist I can't really say much about christmas because I'm not a christian and have only ever celebrated it because its the "norm" and tradition. A bit like people getting babies christened as a matter of routine. I am all for a multi-cultural society and I believe that other cultures should be taken into consideration. However I don't understand why a muslim for example would be offended by a St Georges day card displayed in WHSmith's anymore than if WHSmiths sold greetings cards for other cultures. I mean how many people have chinese themed rooms in their house? I have brought back various religious themed bits and bobs from my travels abroad like buddas and religious symbols. Does it really mean anything? I find other cultures fascinating and I'm sure they find ours just as interesting so why is everyone scared of offending eachother? I don't get it?

I think that she was quite silly to apply for the job in the 1st place. I am all for equal ops etc. But it's just like, I'm fat so I wouldn't ask for a job in a gym

If you ask me the poor hairdresser should have been sneaky enough to not give her the job for other reasons. People find it too easy to play the race card.

I have to agree with that... I have things in my house that I know would offend certain religions, but I have other things from other cultures religions because I find it all fascinating and it doesn't offend me even though I might not agree with that religion or culture... I too wonder why people are so afraid of offending people... You can always find parallels in all cultures and religions and you realise we aren't that different after all... might have something to do with all being ... er.. human.. :rotfl:

As for the article.. I think people have every right to display their religion openly... I don't see why it should be a problem .. (obviously wearing a headscarf in an operating room might not be appropriate... but that's has a specific reason)...

I don't believe religion should be taught in schools though (they do here in primary schools, but I have Tia taken out of the classes). I think that religion should be taught to children by their parents/place of worship only... and that religion classes would be better replaced with some sort of ethics classes, where kids can open debate their beliefs on matters or get taught to give their bloody bus seats up to pregnant ladies.. . :rotfl:

:rotfl: so true.

As for that article thingy....if you went into that salon and that girl was working there with the head scarf on and you said to the manager "why can't i see that girls hair? I thought your policy was to show the stylists hair" and the manager said "its because of her religious beliefs and her right to exercise her religious beliefs but she is a wicked hairdresser" can you really see the customer saying "well bugger that I'm not having my hair cut in this establishment then"! and walking out.

Its ridiculous.
