Split post re: UK going downhill

i agree with that. if there willing to work, and bring something to the country, like they do in australia i think, you can only get in if you have a trade, i think.

but i do know alot of imm come in and just get given things. that isnt right.

bad: the seemingly decrease in gentlemanly acts, i.e giving seat up for pregnant woman ect.

I've been told that's because of the increase of womens rights and that men are afraid of offending a woman? Not saying having a man give up his seat for me when I am pregnant wouldn't be appreciated..

wow really. i had one man give his seat up for me when preg. and i was so touched i really was. it made my day.

BAD: THE BLAMIN RAIN :rotfl: only joking. is annoyin though

Funnily enough when I was pregnant with Tia in the UK it was the little old ladies and little old men who would give their seats up for me rather than the young strapping men, who just averted their eyes, and I felt really guilty... I suppose they had a certain set of morals bred into them, which my parents put into me.... i would always give my seat up for a pregnant woman or a little old lady.

I know nothing about immigration. The only thing I do know is there are alot of Polish people working as builders that are doing alot of cheap work badly. I only know this because my boyfriend does alot of jobs which involves putting their work right. If the general public didn't allow them to onto their property to do work cheaply and badly then they would have no work and either have to train to work properly or leave England altogether I reckon.

oi just because I've been to India and you havent stop taking my comments forgranted :rotfl:

i dont usually get involved in debates but would like to comment on one experience i had with the way the country respects our ex servicemen, my 84 year old neighbour was poorly and really not capable of fully looking after himself and getting meals together and stuff, with no family i would plate him a meal up when i made ours at evening but i worked long hours not getting home till 7pm and requested a meal be delivered by meals on wheels during the day, i was told defo no they were overstretched and the fact that i was willing to make him a meal once a day that was good enough, then my sister went to work for the meals on wheels service in the offices and was shocked to discover that on entering the country some of the imm where getting 3 meals a day delivered to there door  so i can understand totaly the comment of this country is going to the dogs :(

no i agree its not all bad, i think the pensioners have never been better off, at the moment my grandma says she can put a little aside as well as live off her pension, but the lack of respect shown to our elderley is appalling what happend to community spirit :( we all need to let our kids know exactly what happened during the wars and the effects after and how much of a sacrifice was made fo us.

Haven't read all of this but just wanted to say - I moan about this country with the best of them and there is plenty to moan about - the state of the NHS etc. However I am proud to be British in fact I would describe myself as very patriotic. I try not to let the small things get me down and concentrate on the good in this country and there is a lot of good.
Every country has good and bad and if you think there is somewhere better to live - off you go there then

I am British and I am proud - so there

Sorry but thats one thing that gets to me....

Interesting debate

My personal opinion is that the immigrants are not to blame. The government has done [sarcasm] fantastic job [/sarcasm] of allowing the flood of immigrants for generations. Its only in recent years it has become a problem. Many of the previous influxes - such as afro-carribeans, asians, jewish etc have had an overall benefit to the country and are excepted by the majority as equals. In fact, we are all immigrants if you go even further back - I bet most people on this forum can trace their family back to someone who "came" to Britain seeking a better life. My parents arnt British. Neither are my OH's parents. But we are British none-the-less.

Back to my original point though, the immigrants we seem to be discussing in this thread have had, at some point, a difficult choice to make. Stay in their homeland where they are in fear of their lives every day, where war and rioting is a way of life, where death and rape has touched every family in some way - or come to Britain where they can have a better life. Which would you choose?

It is actually a myth that they get priority in things like housing and benefit. A total myth. Dreamed up by the media and probably with roots in organisations like the BNP and NF.

The majority of immigrants come here because they want to make a better life for themselves and their families. They work, or try to, they try to fit into the community but are met with racism and nimby attitudes every day.

What strikes me as the most ironic thing, is that it is mostly down to the western world that they have had to flee their homelands to begin with. We started it.

Am I proud to British? No....I'm afraid I really am not.

Where I Live Its Horrendous, I Am Deffinately In The Minority Due To The Vast Ammount Of Immigrants. When I Go Shopping I Feel Intimidated and Almost Bullied Because I Get Treated As Though Im Not Welcome, Which I Find Disgusting. This Is MY Home.
