Split post re: UK going downhill

NO WAY I dont want to start this thread!!!!!!

I was responding to something that offended me, I certainly don't want a whole thread devoted to having a bloody arguement!!!! sorry urchin but people who throw around comments and then moan when they get a response should think about what they are saying. If she wanted it to be a rememberence day thread then why even mention being proud of the UK?

jesus :x

Don't apologise Lou! Do you mean you don't want your name at the top? Sorry I didn't do it because YOUR particular comment needed to be put somewhere else, I did it cos in general the thread had changed direction.

Do you want me to delete your post from being the first one?

Sorry.

Lou - I don't agree with Keslo i think there are some amazing parts of GB and am proud to be british but honestly i don't think you needed to take her comment personally, she has her views and you have yours but no need to argue with each other... take it easy girls

most people are proud to be british. but unfortunately this country seems to be revolving around the wrong type of people and thus making it a vile place to live.

Oh bugger what a blummin' mess LOL

I've seen such horrific things in my life in other countries, things that I hope you never see, and I don't mean that to be patronising, that it really makes me pissed off when people make comments about the UK. I am offended and upset that people assume the men and women who fought in our wars did so in vain and that they wouldn't be proud to be British. How can anyone make that assumtion and speak for other people. I can't stand it when people make off handed comments about things they know absolutely naff all about.

I am the most easy going, placid person going but this has really touched a nerve with me so sorry for sounding off but I feel really strongly about it.

Lou

i never said that i wasnt proud to be brittish. and no, i didnt mean anything personally.

ive not set out to make an arguement.

this thread can be deleted if wished.

sorry urchin but people who throw around comments and then moan when they get a response should think about what they are saying

i actually think that comment was un needed. i do think about what i post. and i dont see the problem with my original post tbh. please explain to me if i am missing something. i just do not see how it is offensive. as i did not go into why i think things need improving, or slagging off the country ect.

*sigh* i guess you cant say anything nowadays with out someone getting offended

im sure thay are proud to be british, but not nessecaraly (sp) proud of the direction the country is going.

they did not die in vain, i am certain of that. and i do appologise if it came across that i thought they did die in vain, because i didnt think i expressed that

I'm trying really hard to to get involved here :)

I do think people are allowed to be offended by things though, we all have our own views on things, I'm sure I've offended many people in my time here

This forum would be a very boring place if we all have the same opinions on everything.

budge is right about that comment. everyone is allowed to comments. if you do not like it, that is not our fault. we do have the right to post our views. yours are different. no biggy

For gods sake delete this thread please.

urchin, ive been offended too. but i dont jump down peoples throats for it. i respect other peoples oppinions.

as i respect Lous, but i do really think it was wrong to respond in the way she did.

lou, im glad your proud of this country. alot of people are.

thats right.
theres not point being offended by anyones comments. You cannot change opinions.
You just have to stick to what you belieeve in and voice your opinions. Which is what we are all doing.

why?

ive no objection, but i dont see anyone is being partiularly(sp) mean ect.

a healthy debate can be good, and the debate is starting to go into the right direction

ok so the debate is about the direction Britain is taking rather than arguing...

I agree with some things said, gun culture/gang culture is getting out of hand. I don't think you can fully blame just goverment though. some parents these days are ridiculous and take no notice of what their children are up to, it's no wonder some of them grow up having no respect for anything or anyone ...

and i did add 'some' parents lol

Thats a really narrow minded comment. Of course you can change opinions and you dont just have to stick to what you believe in and voice your opinions. It just so happens with some people that you cannot challenge their opinions without having a barney which as urchin was trying to say is a shame.

Your comment wasn't offensive, I'm sure most people will understand the point you were trying to make.

I certainly didn't get the impression you thought anybody had died in vain. Of course they didn't.

However, my grandad would be doing somersaults in his grave if he knew that you are no longer allowed to fly the Union flag for fear it may be perceived as politically provocative!

What an utterly ridiculous state of affairs!

We are lucky that here in Switzerland we can fly our Union flag without fear of upsetting anybody!

ill agree with that, 'some' parents dont enforce the imporance of not carrying guns/knives/using drugs ect. i think maby more parenting courses, and just helping parents with difficult kids may help
