SPD Support Thread

Ive Got my physio appointment :) they wanted to see me today but im im hospital so couldnt go so its next week now instead, just wondered what might happen? Thanks x

When I had mine they had a good chat with me then took me through a series of stretches and stuff so the could assess me. They I lay down on the bed and they moved me about and felt where things were and stuff.

I was in agony at the end of it

There were certain things that didn't hurt at all and some that did. Be completely honest as there is no right answer ... SPD presents differently in everyone z

As log as you wear something comfortable like leggings you should be fine

I wore jeans to my first which made things difficult ... But I did get to keep them on x

Heard a good tip tonight for SPD, not sure if it's one you will all know or not.

Wear 2 maternity pads at the same time. It apparently gives support to the bit of pelvis that is collapsing and causing the pain. So would imagine they would have to be thick pads? Am not sure. Guess its one to try about the house first off! X

Interesting Lynds ... may have to give it a go!

Since baby's head has started to engage I've been in agony ... at least I don't have long now!

Interesting tip! Thanks :)

I had a really good weekend - was getting about without my crutches even. But have paid for it since :( Have had 3 really crappy days and now my hips are almost back to square one again! So I guess the moral of the story is to still use your crutches even if you're feeling good!

Hope everyone else is managing ok? xx

Can i ask, how far were people when they got crutches? X

I found out today at a scan that baby's head is literally sitting on my cervix. Baby isn't up in the fluid as should be, but pressing on my cervix, together with continuing placenta previa and a baby weighing 30 weeks rather than the 27 +6 that we are, she said she wasn't at all surprised I was in so much discomfort with the SPD as the baby is burrowed right down into my pelvis.

I wonder how many other ladies have low babies and whether this is affecting their pain as well. If the baby moves up a little I may get a small amount of relief.

I've not been able to use crutches at any point because my hands and shoulders are just too bad, I can't tolerate even a few steps in the crutches. I've had to give in and just stay in bed or take the pain relief and amble about very carefully.

Ouch Willowwisp! Are they planning on delivering your baby early?!? I struggle with my L shoulder if I use my crutches too much....

I was about 24/5 weeks when I was given crutches!

I was 24 weeks when I was given crutches.

I literally can't walk without them though ... and I now have carpal tunnel in both hands which is interesting if nothing else

Thanks, hopefully ill have a while before i need em then lol x

I have just woken up, haven't even moved yet, and I can feel the pain already, it is agony. I'm dreading getting up =( and OH is working early today so I need to walk DD up the hill to playgroup. Its gona be a long day x

I'm pencilled in for a c-section at 39 weeks, but was warned that they didn't think I'd that long. It's just a case of putting everything together to justify an early delivery. I've got other health complications as well, and currently query GD on top of everything else because I won't consent to the GTT they can't be sure.

Oh poor you! What a worry :(

I'm back to not sleeping, saw every hour last night.... My hips and lower back are agony, only positive is that my pubic bone/ligament is currently not causing me too much pain. The lack of sleep is making me feel really down and miserable again, have a near constant headache (prob cause of the lack of sleep) and IBS seems to have flared up again - getting proper fed up!
Sorry rant over now! lol

Theres something in the water as Im in bloody agony again

max of 7 weeks and counting!

I'm hoping that we're lucky like Leesey was and we'll get a reprieve near the end......!?!

Tweety - this might be a weird question, but do your bum cheeks ache? Mine are really tender around my coccyx, like I've been cycling for hours or running up and downstairs for ages......

My tail bone is the one place that hasn't hurt, but there was a woman at my SPD class thingy that I went to and that was the only place she had pain

I get mine mostly in my left groin / hip area now. But the last couple of days its been right in my public bone again

I feel like kicking OH in the nads .. just because!
