***September 2018 Mummies***

Just had my dating scan, measured a day ahead so my due date is now Sept 26th. Couldn’t do the downs scan because baby was measuring over 14 weeks so I’ve been offered to go back for the blood test at 16 weeks. I have a massive fear of needles and I’m not sure if I can mentally deal with having another set of bloods taken (already have to have extra tests due to family medical history)
I was ready to have my blood taken today and I’m calm right now (still waiting for blood tests at this moment) but it takes me days to calm my self down enough to be anywhere near a needle.

Such a lovely scan photo. x I'm sorry they didn't have any luck with the test, hopefully you will feel a bit better over the next few days and calmer about needing more blood tests. Must have been lovely to see your little one again though. x

It's such a shame they push these scans so far back. I told my midwife I was further along and would be 14 weeks at my scan and she wouldn't believe me. At the scan they even said I should have been seen earlier, but what can you do!

Hi ladies not been on in ages. Hope yous are all well. Iv been feeling really quit good lately. My wee bumps coming along nicely. Not had my 20 week scan yet. My dates not came in yet. Il be 16weeks on Monday. I just wish I could feel movements just to let you know it’s ok. Think you still worry even at this stage. Iv already put in a 1 stone. Ohh noo ha ha

Lalaroo I completely understand about being scared of needles and blood tests I’m the same! The last two times I’ve had blood taken though I haven’t cried which is a massive improvement for me! I still have to be lying down when they do it though and even then feel a bit lightheaded. I prefer that they just do it. I don’t like when they keep asking if I’m ok as I get more worked up then. I told my midwife and she was like that’s ok let’s go in other room so you can lie down. Lay down and then she just got on with it which I find for me works better. The weird thing is that although I hate things like that I work in a hospital and take blood from baby’s all the time!! It’s mostly dads that end up feeling faint I find!

I also have to have more bloods taken and injections than a lot of people in pregnancy as I’m rhesus negative. At next appointment wasn’t supposed to need anything but now have to have a blood test to see if they can find out baby’s blood type from their DNA in my blood. If baby hs a positive blood type or it’s inconclusive then I have to have anti D injections so that my body doesn’t make antibodies which can attack baby’s red blood cells. That would only happen if our blood mixes though and as it’s my first pregnancy unlikely to happen until birth but have to have injections as a precaution.

They just automatically booked me in for anti D injections, because I'm rhesus negative as well. I didn't think they would bother to see if they can check baby's blood type, just do the injections regardless as a precaution, like you said.

At least they're being good to you in regards to the injections, a bit of consideration goes a long way in these cases! x

Elven I think it’s only recently being rolled out in places as some people who were rhesus negative took part in a trial a few years ago and they found out that you can see which blood type baby has. I think it depends which region you are in as to whether you have blood test first or just anti d injections at the moment. Eventually I believe it will be rolled out everywhere as it doesn’t do any harm and most of the time they are able to tell what blood type baby is

Sounds brilliant, will certainly make life easier for some. x

I’m also rhesus negative. I wasn’t too bad having my first injection with my DD but when it came to having it after birth, I screamed the ward down. They wouldn’t discharge me until I had it but I just refused to let them do it. After hours of arguing with the nurse she came to my bed without the needle, she started talking to me and another nurse sneakily came around from behind another curtain and jabbed it into my leg whilst I was distracted. I was meant to leave the hospital at midday but I didn’t get home until 6pm! I’ve always had a fear of needles, I’m not sure why as it’s not the pain or the blood that bothers me.
I’d love to know what my children’s blood type is, mine is AB negative and were pretty sure that my partner is O positive so it would be interesting to see which blood type they inherited.

I've heard that you only get anti d injection after birth if baby has positive blood type. They should check cord blood, or do a heel prick blood test to see.

Hi all hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter :)

I think my baby has read up one what symptoms I could get and working hard to make me have them haha currently 14+6 weeks and keep getting awful heartburn and last night I had the worst leg cramp I’ve ever had! I usually suffer with cramp anyway but this was awful. I couldn’t stretch it out at all, every time I tried it just got worse. Luckily my husband woke up and then massaged my leg for me. It still took about 10/15 mins to ease off to where I could stretch my leg out!

Would anyone be interested in a FB group? Not sure if that might make it easier to keep in touch. x

Haha, I was convinced my body had done that when I started having tri 1 symptoms in tri 2, as if it had forgotten about them in tri 1 and suddenly remembered I had missed out! I hope you manage to find something to help with your heartburn, and what a lovely, helpful husband you have. x

I would :) I know I’m technically due in October now, but I’m not convinced. My other two came early and much closer to my dates than the scan dates so pretty sure I’ll still end up being a September mummy :) xx

I will PM you the link too now. x

I wonder about the whole Anti-D thing as this is my third, everything seems to be more chilled now - first one was a major panic every time I was hit (hard) in the bump I'd have a long ole hospital visit, motoring in and injections! (I have a very funny story about a dog that paw punched me right in the bump!) Second was only given the injection after birth. Third I've only been advised to bother to come in at all, if I have a bleed.

How are you all?

I think thing are settling down here, finally - I have a consultant appointment tomorrow, which I'm not looking forward too!

Anomaly scan tomorrow - really hope baby's cooperating and we can find out the gender. Fingers crossed!
