October 2017 Mummies - The last thread :)

I'm sure she wont judge Allysa. I bet that regardless of how you think the place looks it will be completely fine, esp given some of the things they probably see! I don't think a guest room is a necessity for the baby. Although I'd be exactly the same- I'd be stressing about everything being prefect ad driving my hubby mad.
Olivia, I hope you're not overdoing it, esp in this heat. My hubby was annoyed when he was away as I got very little support. Its difficult when you don't want to ask for help. I'm the same in that respect. Its great that your OH is back tomorrow, I bet you cant wait to see him.

I've had a pretty chilled weekend. Starting to feel a lot more tired, but when I try and nap I cant switch my head off. I've been waking up with sore fingers these last few days and today they have swollen up. Ankles and face are fine so guessing its heat and fluid retention. I have my 34w MW appt on Thursday so I'll mention it then. I don't think I have any other symptoms for pre-eclampsia so I'm not overly fussed. Good job I took my rings off a few weeks ago!

I did every room by myself, only thing I haven't done is take boxes into loft but that's husbands job!! I am happy with what I achieved but I know I have overdone it big time. Body is aching. It's very hard to not do things when you're living alone....carrying the Hoover up and down the stairs is a challenge! But everywhere is done until husband is home and makes a mess again!

How hot is it!?!? I have been sweating all day. Currently laying on bed with nothing on and the fan going

So on the stretch mark front.....I am under attack. Although they're only on my lower bump...start an inch under my belly button and continue down to bikini area. My bump has got big over the last week so husband will get a shock. I had no stretch marks when he left. Now I have 15 or more.

Movements are getting slightly uncomfortable now :( I've had a sharp pressure type pain in my pelvis. Let's see what midwife says about baby's position tomorrow. Although I have a feeling baby will move up just for the appointment.

Amy, I also am thankful I took my rings off a few weeks back. Although husband said I should take them off but I'm super stubborn so I didn't. The next day I realised one of them was actually stuck haha should have listened to him! Got the ring off in the end though :)

I hate having my rings off. It just feels so weird.

It was so hot last night. I was starfished out on the bed in pants with a sheet over me (feel too exposed without anything, odd) and the fan directed straight at me. Some of my lovely neighbours decided to have a party too! The one weekend were they could have gone for the Sunday night but no, they chose Monday. Fortunately it stopped around 2330.

First day back in work after 3 weeks off, nooooooo. Could have had a lie in as have the dentist at 0930 but baby decided to kick me awake at 0630. Thanks for that! Only 3.5 weeks of work left to go and I am definitely on countdown mode.

Hope the MW appt goes well and she can give you some info on position. Backache is my biggest pain at the mo, oh and my aching fingers. I feel like an old woman. x

Morning all, hope you all had a fab weekend, been catching up on posts!

Pets wise, we have a puppy, well he is 8 months old, we keep wondering how he will be with the baby, he is so protective of me, has been for the last few months, follows me everywhere, sleeps on my feet, won't leave my side so am not sure if that is because he knows I am pregnant or I am just his favourite ha ha!

We went to a fun fair yesterday, was gutted I couldn't go on anything as I am normally the one to take the kids on all the rides, but it was funny to watch my partners face on them as he is a massive hater of rides lol, gave me a lot of laughter and pleasure to watch his face turn green after he had got drunk on Sunday at a party! Evil of me? I don't think so! lol x

We then went for a carvery and it was possibly the worst mistake of the weekend, I was so full I could barely walk, the pressure I kept feeling down below as well, but I have felt that for a few days so am not sure if the baby has 'dropped'? It is constant though, dull back ache, period pains and just constant pressure, so I think (hope hope hope) he has moved into position! Am really hoping for a September baby! x

Morning x

Glad I took my rings off long ago as well. They feel so swollen now I do not think I could take them off.
Good luck with the mw appointment Olivia. Stretch mark wise, I still do not have any on my bump yet. When I was a teenager I lost a lot of weight and I carry stretch marks on my hips, legs but they are whitish and faded.

Yesterday I had dull back ache, period pains and sharp pains in my ladies area on and off all day but the bump doesn't seems to drop . I have aching fingers too with pains on my left wrist, I could barely rotate it and was hurting even when I tried to staple few papers.

Anyone else has rush on the bump? I have a few itchy bits on top of it, it doesn't bother me much, just a bit in the evenings along with the same itchy bits on my hands( one day left hand, one day right hand). They all seem to disappear till the morning, odd.

Work......urgh. But fortunately it was a short day, and its nice and cool in the office. Work seem pretty keen to let me relax these last few weeks and just tidy up the jobs I have left and square all the admin away so that's good. Just worried if I'm not busy the days will drag. But at last I'm free to finish early if I'm aching.

I don't think I've got any stretch marks yet, but cant be sure. Haven't had any tummy rashes or too much itching. My biggest problem with rashes was a rash under my wedding and engagement rings at about 31w. Had to use a light steroid cream for a week. Biggest problems come in the evening- back aching, ribs hurting, etc.

Flick- your puppy sounds adorable, and I think laughing at your OH was completely justified. I had half a small glass of red wine on Sunday while watching a film. I felt guilty but it was amazing.

Horrid question but is anyone thinking of trying, or hs previously tried, perineum massaging? The MW was really advocating it at my first antenatal class. I've always thought 'urgh, no' but my hubby was like 'well if there's a chance it might help, and possibly help with things being more comfortable you could try'. I'm not sure though. Doesn't appeal, but then I'm not against it if it would help. But blurgh. Anyway, any thoughts would be good. x

I've had a very weak G&T tonight Amythomas! I'm hoping it will help me sleep - yeah right...

I had a really odd night last night. Baby was in an awful position - head was nuzzled in my left hip bone, and kicks were in my back - it was so painful. I felt really awful too, just not myself. Lost a lot of discharge yesterday too (sorry, tmi!), it was literally every time I went to the toilet. It may have been where her head was I suppose, feeling a bit better today.

Pumped my ball up, and had a look online. It seems like you sit on it and swivel your hips round and this gets baby into a good position, which I obviously need! Then you need to bounce to help baby's head move further down and to stretch the cervix.

Amy news from midwife today Olivia?

Flick, I reckon this will be a September baby too - just not an August one please!

Not sure about the massage - I haven't read up on it to be fair, I had the smallest of tears last time that didn't even need stitches, but my body feels like it's falling apart this time! I don't think I've got any stretch marks, although I have those dark lines across my bump, so god knows what it will look like when I lose the bump!

Hey ladies.

My appointment went well. I was the only lady who she had booked in so we spent over an hour talking! Which was brilliant. She also had a student midwife with her who lead the appointment which was fine. They took blood pressure, measurements and felt baby's position twice. Everything is fine. Baby isn't engaged yet (but I believe it was engaged a few days ago from the way I felt but must have popped out for the appointment - typical!) Baby was facing my back which is good. We spoke about birth plan!!!! But I have said I have no birth plan haha just preferences but I'm going with the flow. I would like to get in the pool and I've packed my bikini top but if I can't or I don't feel like it, it's fine. Can't really plan what happens in labour :)

I discussed my hypnosis course with them and they were supportive of it. I just have to make up a few copies explaining what it is I'm doing as the midwives on the day will be confused as I hope to use my hypnosis tools so I will be "zoned out"

Aaaaany way.....the shelving units I ordered for the baby's room turned up. Yay! I can set them up tomorrow and finally have somewhere to store nappies and wipes! I also ordered a nappy stacker holder thing, from wilkos for only £3! So itll look neater.

I am so grateful it has rained all day today. So much more manageable than the heat

How are we all feeling???

Hey everyone x

Olivia Good you had a 'productive' appt and you had time to go through all the stuff regarding labour and birth. About engagement I read some babies never engage.. Interesting, I can't wait for my appt to check my lo :D

I had my Health Visitor visit today- it went really well. She was very nice and supportive and we discussed more than an hour. Basically she came to introduce herself and explain what kind of support they offer after baby is here. It is usually the same health visitor doing visits but next time will be another one as she was pregnant and she is going on maternity in 2 weeks :D

Got a delivery today with baby changing bag ( finally !), bath support and other bits and pieces. I also bought 2 packs of nipple cream.

I have got quite o lot of period like pains and sometimes they are intense, BH a couple of times per day, they also tent to get more painful .. but nothing unbearable.

Hope everyone is coping well x

Hi,
Great to hear about all the good appts and visits. I had my second antenatal class today- focused on breastfeeding and the immediate aftermath of taking baby home. Breastfeeding stuff was interesting, but not new. The home stuff was pretty patronising towards the partners, 'maybe you could help by changing some nappies or asking if she wants a drink.....'. But it got me the afternoon off work! Next week in the hosp visit so that should be good.

Got my 34w MW appt tomorrow so get another late start to work. Interesting to see if she says anything about position and engagement.

All the shopping and deliveries sound exciting. We got a mirror for the back of the car from the Tesco's baby event as it was down to £8. Ordered a new camera as well. I told hubby that if he thought we needed a new one I'd rather have it for the newborn pics. So he looked around and decided that of course we did! I'll let him off for all the saving he did while he was away.

I got quite a few stitches today as I was walking around. I wasn't walking far, only from car into the office. Was really painful, esp as I couldn't push my side in to help the pain. Had difficulty sleeping last night as well. Hoping it doesn't continue x

Allysa, interesting about the health visitor although I think I'm going to decline health visitor services. How did they contact you about the appointment?

What changing bag did you go for?

Amy, what an awkward comment for them to make!!! I cringed just reading that....I would of been in complete shock if I was there when that was said! The midwife didn't mention about engagement, I had to ask. But I'm intrigued to see what you ladies get told!

I've had stitch while walking....usually its when I get carried away and walk too fast! Is anybody else finding it difficult to stand up after sitting or laying for a long time? Turning over at night is painful, it feels like my bones/joints have seized up? I just wondered if it's just me who feels like this or if its normal!

Can't wait to sleep tonight, Its sooo much cooler since it's rained. Although, I pulled a muscle in my shoulder today which is uncomfortable :( I can't have a bath - as I struggle to get out of the bath now and don't want to get stuck when I'm home alone  is deep heat cream safe for us to use during pregnancy? It says nothing on the packaging about pregnancy so I'm unsure :(

Also, my BH and period like cramps have all gone....I have a feeling this baby is going to be stubborn and late. Almost 1 month till my due date!!!!!! EEEEEK

I find rolling over at night really hard. I think that's one of the reasons I'm so tired even when I think I've slept ok. Every time I try and roll over it wakes me up as its such an effort. I also find getting up from the sofa is a struggle. If I'm lying down I have to do it in stages- roll on my side, lift myself to my arms, sit up, get my breathe and then stand. Its frustrating.

When I had a bad back a few weeks ago I asked the pharmacist if I could use any heat pads on my back (the kind you stick on) and he said they advise no. I would guess cream would be the same. He just said to take paracetamol. You can use a hot water bottle though x

In my area health visitors work with the midwives so I suppose they have my details from them. I just got a letter one day that they will visit me, I did not know if I can can decline it? One of them will also come when baby is between 10-14 days to check on the health of the baby and check the weight. Seems to be different in every area really. She tried to be quite helpful so I am not bothered though.

In the end I went for the Babymel Cara Stripe changing bag, I wasn't very sure but I like it a lot and it does go well with the pram

Amy I feel you with rolling over during nights, I also wake up every time I change sides, it is a nightmare and this is also why I feel so tired when I wake up. My back is also starting to hurt like hell ...

With Braxton hicks for me was different, don't think I got them properly until 32 weeks and then boom.. The worst thing is that I have them always while sitting at work and rarely at home.

Hello, can I be added please? Expecting a little girl due 3rd October !

Hi Jordan, another little girl to add to the group, yay. I hope you're doing well and not having too many difficult symptoms.

Allysa- I was tempted by that bag too. To be honest there were a few I could have bought but I managed to hold myself back! I'm not sure if I've noticed any BH now. I thought I had a while ago but its stopped/changed so I'm not sure if it was just her moving and pushing her bum out. x

I almost got that bag too :) but it didn't match the buggy as well as I thought it would so I got a different one instead.

Seems like we are all similar with the getting up and rolling over issues!

Welcome Jordan :) I'm also due on the 3rd!

Welcome Jordan !! You have been added to the front page . How was your pregnancy so far ? x

I hope we will get updates from all the October mummies and hope everyone is coping well

My pram is all black so I wanted the changing bag to be other color and I like how big the bag is :D

Last night I had just one trip to toilet which is wow, but even if I slept well I woke up tired and with pains...Bump is getting too heavy I think. Anyone else has problems with the eyes? My eyes hurt, it is painful to look in the monitor at work, I wonder if it is normal? Sometimes I have to stop and close them for a couple of minutes to get better

Fab bag Alyssa, I have the same. I got it nearly 4 years ago and it's still in great condition so using it again :)

Welcome Jordan :) Not long until those of you due at the start of October are 37 weeks! I feel like I'm gonna be pregnant forever lol.

My son has been so cute talking about the baby, he tells people to be careful because I have a baby in my tummy and found it highly amusing when I told him the baby was upside down in there haha. Can't wait for them to meet :) x
