October 2017 Mummies - The last thread :)

Good to hear the scan went ok tealady.
Hope baby turns soon to make it more comfortable for you
3lbs!!! How sweet! Compared to my almost 5 pounder

Glad all was well with your scan tealady! Once again it is confirmed that midwife measurements are not reliable. Now I am so curious how much my baby weights, I just want to make an idea ... :D Will see what the midwife says on Monday on my 33 weeks appt.

Well, after a lot of thinking I decided to go for natural, but very open to have the epidural if the things get rough.

Same here ladies! We are painting and my house if a mess at the moment...But I got used to it now, the plan is in next 2 weeks to have everything sorted.

Guess what, my parents called me yesterday to tell me they bought tickets for 19 October :) :) So people start announcing visits to ours as well. Then my sister will come with her fiancee for a week, then my in laws..It would be fine if they will come for 1-2 days but because they are coming from abroad their visits are around one week, one after another ! I warned them that I will have the baby so if they come I need help not someone to come on holiday! Ha, guess this one wasn't very nice of me.

Planning on some online shopping today. Which was the brand of those nice changing baby bags you bought? x

They should definitely be there to help you, it's not a holiday. I'm lucky my family are close so they can just pop in for a little bit. Inlaws will probably come down for a night or two but OH has already said that depending on how I am they might even be told to stay in a hotel (to be honest I'd like to tell them to do that every time, haha).
You get a MW appt at 33w where you are? My next is 34w, then they go to every 2 weeks until 40. But I've got an extra scan this afternoon and my first antenatal appt next week so still got a lot to fit in.

I went for a Babymel changing bag. It was a bit expensive but I love my handbags and use all the time so I wanted something I love. And I wanted something that doesn't feel too mumsy and babyish.

Got some aches going on this morning. My feet hurt from being on them for ages yesterday- I think I'm getting too heavy for myself. Got some aches and cramps that feel a bit like period pains as well, nothin major, but they're there. Baby is having a good wriggle though x

Morning ladies

What a night, thought we were off!! Think it was food poisoning in the end lol, but my god the pain, the tightness, sickness, the other end, it was awful, have had about an hour of sleep.....

With that and the stress of arguing with my other half because of his over controlling family and his lack of balls to stand up to them, am beyond fed up, I just want to curl in a ball and cry!

I was supposed to have my next MW appt at 34 weeks as well but because I was measuring big she booked me a week earlier to check the growing and then to send me for a growth scan if the case. With my luck she probably won't, but I would love to see my little one again.
Unfortunately can't send my in-laws to a hotel , sometimes I wish I could haha.
Good luck with the scan today! x

Sorry you had such a bad night Flick, hope you'll feel better soon and if not better go to get checked . Men sometimes are like that unfortunately..

Ahhh, that makes sense.

That made me laugh flick- not that you were ill, but the way you described it. Hope you're feeling better now and get some time to relax x

Ha it is funnier today than it was in the night, can you imagine turning up in the labour ward with it, I would have looked a right idiot, you wouldn't think I have already had a child!! x

Thanks girls, I knew he wasn't 3 weeks ahead, my bump is way too small and due to my sickness I'm not eating that much so there was just no way he could have been that big at this stage! Do you all know roughly what your baby weighs??

Has everybody finished buying for the baby yet or do you still have the odd bits and pieces to pick up?
Also, have you all got waterproof mattress protectors for the cot mattress or not? I haven't bought one yet but am in two minds about doing so. Also, fitted sheet wise- how many do you all have? I have two fitted sheets for my snooze-pod too, I was hoping that one could be washed whilst the other is on. Do you think that's enough?

I'd get some more fitted crib sheets for the snuz pod, baby could be sick multiple times through the night. My son was a super sicky baby and I'd change the sheets atleast 4 times a day! You can get a two pack from Asda for a fiver I think? :)

I've still got a few bits to buy, a Moses basket mattress, cardigans and a playmat. Probably more stuff but I've forgot! I've got things to buy for the homebirth too, mainly towels and tealights/candles bits like that. Exciting times! X

All went well at the scan. Baby is measuring in at a distinctly average 4lb 5oz, and fluid levels and blood flow through cord was good. Great to get to see her again, and her movement has been fine since the last time I was concerned- she just clearly likes to wind me up every now and then.

I've got a lot of stuff, esp the stuff I would need straight away, but don't have everything. So I've got the Moses basket and sheets, etc for that but haven't got sheets for cot bed. I've got 4 Moses basket sheets, but that's only cos I ordered 2 before my sister gave me 2. I've got 2 packs of 2 cot bed sheets sat waiting to be ordered on Amazon, and a waterproof mattress protector as well.
I've just had a quick look at my lists (one for baby stuff and one for hosp bags) and I am surprisingly pretty much there. Need a mobile (but not urgent as the monitor plays lullabies) and another nursing bra. I want to stock up on some more bits like nappies, nipple cream, etc, but that's more as and when things are on offer. x

Glad the scan went well Amy; how many weeks are you? I'm 31 weeks and 3 lbs. Did they tell you the position of the baby? :) I don't have nursing bras yet, but honestly what a minefield! I need to get measured but I'm worried that once I have the abby my bra size will increase again due to being engorged with milk so it's putting me off buying them until then. But obviously I can't really do that.

I'll get some more fitted sheets then. I also need to stock up on nappies, I only have one pack so far to take into hospital! How many packs of nappies are you all stocking up on? Ive got tons of wipes. I'm planning to use wipes in hospital; I'e heard midwives can be funny about it but I think it's just ridiculous nonsense personally!
I get things on offer too, Boots are great as you get points through the parenting club. The pound-shop is also amazing for discounted branded baby toiletries.

I also need to get a stick on mirror for the back of the car so I can keep an eye on baby whilst driving :)

Ah yes, I want one of those mirrors too. And I need to get the isofix base for the car seat. Was waiting til I had got my new car sorted. Dammit- more stuff.

I'm 32w 4d, baby is currently head down (head is very low apparently), bum is usually around my belly button, and I usually feel the feet kicking around my right hand side. It can be really painful when she stretches them out.
I haven't been measured for bras yet as my boobs haven't really grown- I'm still in my normal ones- I just ordered one online to see. I'll probably wait til nearer the time, see if this one still fits and then order another. Yay for next day delivery.

I've got loads of wipes. Got some Johnsons newborn and then tescos ones. I've got 2 packs of tescos newborn size 1 nappies (about 25 in a pack) and 2 packs of newborn size 2 (approx 45 in a pack). I'm worried about having the right size.

Hey ladies.

Allysa, I am doing the same...will try for natural and drug free by using my hypnosis but if it's all too much then I will go for epidural! Nice to hear your parents will be visiting you :) I bought the pink lining changing bag, it's a cream with navy boats on...reduced to £50 in Mothercare and got 10% off as we were at an expectant parent event :D it matches the navy silver cross we have.

Amy, I also feel like I'm too heavy for my legs to hold me....especially if I squat down as I can never get enough strength in my legs to push myself back up. I have to pull myself up by holding onto something.

Flick, you poor thing! I had food poisoning (my own cooking!!! ) when I was around 27 weeks. I have had food poisoning in the past but wow.....this was horrendous. I am now so careful about how I store food! Hope you feel ok now x

Tealady, we have what we need for the first week or so. Husband needs to go and collect the Cotbed but for the first few weeks or so we will use a Moses basket so no rush to get it :) we have the essentials shall we say! Still need to get either a bouncer or a bean bag type thing for baby to sit in, i'd like some more swaddle blankets but we have enough so will spend money on something else instead. Last thing I need to buy is formula and waterwipes! I will pick some up next week and the premade bottles for hospital :) I am still on the look out for some sort of waterproof protector for Moses basket...even though our mattress has a removable waterproof cover....so maybe this isn't necessary? I will definitely buy one for the cot bed though.

So when the builders turned up this morning, husband opened the door and to his horror saw that the car had vanished from our drive. It had been stolen in the night :( so now we have no car for hospital appointments and the 25min drive when we're in labour!!! Can't believe it :( husband is going on holiday with his son in the morning for 10 days so I am home alone. To top it all off....his travel documents were in the car...so the robbers have basically been told the property will be vacant :( so worried incase they break in while I'm here alone. I'm a nervous wreck :(

Oh no Olivia, that's terrible. Did they manage to get the keys or 'just' break into the car? At least you guys are ok. Hopefully the insurance will cover it all, but it is a massive pain, and not what you need right now. I'm sure you've done all this but make sure the police are aware of the situ and you being heavily pregnant and alone with his travel details out there - hopefully they can do extra patrols in your area or give you a number to call if you're worried at any point (or is this wishful thinking back to old style policing?!)
Obvs you wont want to stay away from the house, but is there anyone else who can stay with you while he's away? If there's ots of people coming and going it could deter any activity. But hopefully the car take was just an opportunistic thing and they wont have even looked at or cared about the travel docs.

I woke up thinking about toast, yum. x

What a nightmare Olivia, glad you are both well after all but not exactly what you needed in this condition.Police need to be aware as Amy suggested and to patrol more in the are specially with you being alone until hubby comes back. Also hopefully the insurance will cover all and you could get things sorted quickly. It is really a pain in the a.. when things like this happens.

Good news with the scan Amy!Glad little one is happy in there.
From a couple of days I feel the movements so much stronger, and when he streches feels like he will ripp off my skin. Also very painful movements.
Have anyone noticed a strong wattery dischange? I start to believe I am leaking. I have noticed it started few days ago and it is consistent. Need to mention it to the midwife on Monday

Yesterday wrote a list with last things I need and already ordered online some of them. I have 2 fitted sheets at the moment but I need to order probably 2 more just in case. I have 6 big packs of nappies- from Boots own brand, 2 packs of Tescos and 3 Pampers which were on promotion.Otherwise, still a log way to go to catch up with the list.

x
