*** November 2014 Mummies! ***

They are meant to save you money overall compared to normal nappies. Even if you include all the costs of washing. Then if you use them for su sequent children you save even more.
They are expensive though, you have to see them as more of a sort of investment.

I might look into them again, just not sure. Worried about my baby having sensitive skin, as im totally allergy ridden, so the chemicals in the disposables won't be good for him. But I'll have to look into it again when I get chance.
Can afford to splash out on them as we practically have our baby kitted out until hes 6 months old due to very kind peoples hand me downs.

I'd recommend it! No horrible chemicals and sooo cute. You can do the cheaply, or not. Very cute and it's not like it's much work. Breastfeeding poo if you can't get it off, just disappears in the wash. Weaning poo, you should be able to just shake off into the toilet. You can put disposable liners in so you can just put those in nappy sacks and bin them if dealing with poo is too much for you. Then you just stick them in a bucket and wash once a day or once every other day depending on how many you have. (24 recommended for every day, 36 for every other day - 10 per day plus 2 spares just in case).

If you like you can pick Microfibre inserts which dry super quickly! Also if you buy two part systems, the waterproof shells dry in no time and the inserts can be put on radiators in winter. :)

Yea I read about the liners and things, they definitely a lot more adaptable these days than what they used to be. When I mentioned it to my mom she pulled a face because I think she imagined the ones she used to put on me and my brother!

Haha yep the older generation just don't seem to get it. My in laws took one of my pop ins (the yellow monkey print one) over to FIL's parents house to show them. They were just so amazed!!! Hahaha

Wow they are super cute pheonix...you have got me curious now? So what are the set up costs ...how much would 324 reuseable nappies cost. (I would be drawn to the super cute expensive ones no doubt) also this may be a stupid question but do they travel well? I guess you probably could use disposables for travelling or day trips.

I'll deal with the travelling issue first!! Second and third shelf down on my pic, (minus yellow monkey print) are Bumgenius Flips, they're a two part system you buy an insert. But you can also buy disposable inserts! (What's great about two part systems is that you can change only the insert if the shell isn't dirty, so you don't HAVE to have LOADS of shells, though they're super cute so if you start getting into them you will want them all). Shells are just basically waterproof covers and can be so easily handwashed. Inserts obviously can be chucked! With day trips you buy wetbags and just empty poos out into public toilets or nappy bins, and put used nappy in wetbag and deal with it when you get home :)

Hahaha you need 24 if you intend to do a wash every day. 36 if you want to wash every other day. Nappies can be as cheap as these ones

Thank you for your comments girls! Visited her today and she's worse if anything.. She's got tons of wires all over her and looks awful.. I sat and watched her heart monitor and it's irregular.. Time will only tell but I don't think she will recover from this unfortunately :-(. Been in bed on and off all day.. Still forced myself to go to the hospital but I've got a headache still that's had me crying my eyes out, can hardly eat or move my head.. Hubby even put a tuba grip on my head and that only worked slightly.. Nothing's going well atm! Xx

Katie, sorry to hear about your gran. Three of my grandparents had strokes so I know what it's like. One of my grandads was like the cat of 9 lives, after a stroke we'd visit him in hospital and he'd be so frail and his skin would be like paper and we'd prepare ourselves for the worst then 2 weeks later, he would seem 10 years younger. He did that so many times we actually got a little blase about his strokes! I hope your gran pulls through soon.

I'm definitely planning to be a cloth nappy person, but I'm planning a trial of them after birth, so starting with disposables for newborn, only because I don't want to spend out on tiny nappies that won't last long. The trial will allow me to see what ones work best for my baby's bum, save me buying ones that I might not use.

BabyP thank you for the link to LittleBloom - are they as good as the others? They are a tenth of the price! Why are they so cheap when the others are about £20 each?

They're probably cheap because they're mass produced in china lol. I've heard they're good, though it depends on shape of your baby obviously. They might just not work for some people.

If you wanted to buy the cute iddy biddy newborn nappies like the ones I'm buying (I'm not getting many of the expensive ones!) they have a good resale value depending on which ones you get. I'd get all expensive and sell them on but I just know I'd get too attached to their cuteness and refuse to sell them hahaha.

I googled and apparently they're baggy around the legs so a bit leaky. I might buy a couple to see, depending on how chubby-legged this little one turns out to be.

Also, I like your nappy cabinet thing, they fit in perfectly! I need tall skinny furniture for my nursery as it's tiny.

Theure from Argos, only £20! :) I love it. Lots of nappy addicts but them. Meant for DVDs haha.

Sorry to hear about your gran Katie :( hoping for a miracle for you xx

Oh no katie, thats horrible news. Miracles can happen though.
Thanks for the link, i'll have a little look when I get chance. Stuck in work all weekend though :(
They are just so prettt though!

Hi Ladies
I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat, I am now 18 weeks and still have not felt baby move is this normal it is my first baby thought I would have felt something by now.
Just need to know I am not alone x

It's deffo normal. Some people don't feel til 24 weeks depending on placenta placement. Try not to worry!

Ive only recently started to feel baby moving, and its only very light feelings every so often. I have an anterior placenta though, so I think this is actually pretty early for me to be feeling him.

Just weighed myself for the first time in about 2 months. Ive put on 2.5kgs since I found out I was pregnant. Just wondering if this is about average for nearly halfway. .....anyone got any idea?

Hope all you ladies are doing well!! my terrible headache has finally passed.. it turned out to be a bug as i got a high temp with it so tryed to sleep it off since yesterday but hubbys got it now :(

still no change with my nan, i couldnt visit today as i was struggling to move my head but my dad went and visited with his brother and said shes just sleeping still which i suppose is good as its giving her brain time to heal. Shes been moved onto a physio ward which confused me.. i would of thought they would of waited until shes up and move with it for physio so will just see what the weekend holds.

Family have been kicking off again.. Me & hubby took my nans rings and necklace off her in a&e and her flat keys in case we needed to check on her budgie and i had my "auntie" knocking on my door for 20 mins to get the keys back, couldn't face going to the door with my head then she rang my dad kicking off so he explained im probably in bed and she pulled her face - then when we have given my dad the keys and jewelry this morning she is asking where my nans wedding ring is, who took the jewelry off etc.. you'd think she would be more bothered about her mum being in hospital than having everything in her possession.. then shes saying once my nan is better she is banning her from smoking (my auntie started buying the fags for her in the first place).. all the family agreed that my nan is her own boss and shouldn't be told what she can and cant do.. if anything at 87 years old stopping smoking isn't gonna make much difference to her life. My auntie has tried to hit my husband in the past so staying out of the way from her xx

Toffeegirl ur not alone!! I haven't really felt anything properly yet and I'm a couple weeks ahead of u. I do have an anterior placenta like Mellie maybe u do too and that's why?! I wouldn't be worried just yet it's still quite early really I think. When's ur scan??

Oh Katie glad ur better now but what a nightmare with the family. It's so sad that these things happen amongst families. I often wonder if some ppl react like that as their way of coping by fixating on other things but then again I think maybe they're just more materialistic ppl :(
Defo stay out the way I can't stand aggressive violent ppl there's just no need for it!!

Feel quite pregnant today starting to feel a little harder now not much but can feel it higher up near belly button so that's good. Still waiting on a kick or two though :-/ u know how ur given all that info on kicks by the mw. It doesn't mention anterior placenta and I want to know when someone's going to sit me down and discuss how I'm now supposed to measure how baby is doing. How do we know there's a problem if we can't feel anything anyway??? :( does make me very worried I must admit! Xx

I have got my scan on the 11th July can't wait but also nervous, Thank you ladies I feel a little better now.
Katie fingers crossed things improve as for your auntie she sounds like she is after everything of your nans and seems uncaring.

Katie she sounds horrible, jewellery would be the least of my concerns in that situation!

My midwife half mentioned my anterior placenta at my 16 week appointment but she didnt actually tell me, she just kind of mumbled thats why I haven't felt the baby yet. I assume when we get further along if we still haven't felt strong kicks the midwife will mention it. At my gender scan the lady said I might not feel strong movement until 25 ish weeks. So after that I assume we panic......
I think its a fairly common tthing though, so im trying not to worry. Plus statistically the baby is more likely to be in a favourable position for birth with an anterior placenta so ive been told. So its not all bad :)
