**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

James doesn't go in his crib, but yep I worry about him all the time!!

OH still isn't back after "popping out" for a few pints hours ago.

I feel so pathetic but I am annoyed, I don't get to go out and cut loose and I am annoyed he said he'd be gone and hour or two and he's still out.

He's not far and he's with a few friends he hardly see's (one of them being my brother). They all have kids...

I know I shouldn't begrudge him having a few hours off as he has been amazing. It's just he's not much of a drinker so I imagine he'll be rough tomorrow and we are meant to be going out!!!

On the upside James is asleep so I am going to head to bed soon

xxxxxxxxx

Wilson hun you can't panic about it :( yes we all worry but as long as you're doing everything you can to reduce the risks there's nothing else that can be done, its something that unfortunately happens to a very small proportion of people :( your little man will be just fine hun.

Nat imo you have every right to be annoyed and its not pathetic at all, I think its more the fact that he said he wouldn't be long and has been that would annoy me xx

Wilson.. Try not to stress about it. It really is a small proportion of people it happens to and as long as you are doing everything as you should be Arthur will be just fine :)

Nat..wooop to the 9 hours of sleep for James and you!!! I bet you felt amazing this morning lol we got 8 hours last night again so pleased with that!
I don't blame you about you oh, if not be best pleased if it was mine. I'm in need of a good girly night out! Hope he wasnt too much longer for you. x

x

im lucky to get 2 :( when do they start to sleep more? xx

When his tummy gets bigger he'll be able to hold more, he waking cos he's hungry, I'm still on 3 hourly so by the time I express I'm back up in about an hour and a half its horrible isn't it xx

Have you tried dream feeding? It's where you feed LO when they're asleep and the idea is they will stay asleep after the feed. My cousin said she started doing it with her LO recently, thinking about giving it a go x

sounds good, trouble is arthur wont take no more than 2-3 oz if he does im coverd in puke, i thought with him being a good weight he would go longer xx

I think 3 hours is all that can be expected of them at this stage, they are only 4 weeks old still xx

Well James didn't have a good night, he went 5 hours and then woke for a feed and change!

We did get a few more hours but after almost a week of 7,8,9 hours in one hit I am a little disappointed.

OH not too hung over today, but I feel a bit sniffly so I have decided against going out, I cba!

xxxxxxxx

We had an amazing night for us, she slept 2-5 then 7-10 so so did I lol.

I just want to do nothing as well but have 14 people coming for pie, roasties and gravy so have been peeling spuds, making cupcakes, tidying and trying to find enough chair space for 14 people plus Cathy lol... Manic day ahead xx

Nat, Madison has been going 2-3 nights of long sleeps (upto 9 hours) then a night of 5 hours then back to a long night so tonight you might get your long sleep again :) hope your sniffs don't turn into much!

Sally..sounds like you have a busy day ahead and lots of cuddles for little Cathy!

We have been busy since we step foot in Scotland! Visiting all our family and Madison has now met everyone pretty much! She has been a spoiled little lady with lots of clothes and gifts, I've been so touched with people's kindness.
We are staying at the inlaws and I've been finding it really difficult as I feel I have to explain everytime I want to do something or go somewhere. Madison is constantly getting picked up by his sister who the other night was ready for holding her after having had 2 bottles of wine!! Hubby did tell her not a chance while she's drinking! :( very stressful being home so I look forward to going back down the road!
But other than the issues at the inlaws it's great to be back in Scotland even if it is bitterly cold!!! Brrrr xx

im wondering if my boobie juice isnt filling enough :(

well i tuck some pics yesterday of Artie Bear hes growing too fast xx

Wilson, I worried a lot about cot death (and still birth) while I was pregnant. I worried less once he was born. I even bought an angel monitor thing which we haven't used yet, although I might when we move him to his own room. I'm not sure why I worry less now, but I still get those moments where I think about it and it feels awful :hugs:

j doesn't go more than 3 hours often in the night, maybe 3 or 4 times ever, and he's over 5 weeks and almost exclusively ff. I think that's about right ATM. Bm doesn't last as long as I'm sure you know.

Your Arthur sounds like J. We can still only get him to take 3-4 ounces. More and he tends to refuse it, but if not we end up wearing it. I'm convinced there is a mild reflux issue going on, so we just go with his lead. We've had some success with stretching his feeds to 3-4 hours (mainly 3) which has stopped his snacking habit mostly and means he takes the full 4oz some of the time.

Wilson- i think your just a natural worrier!? You are doing such a great job with arthur and he isnt making it easy for you but your doing it and look what a beautiful little boy he is..! he looks just like you. I really worried at first with ella, i couldnt sleep myself etc and at the moment shes unwell so im over paranoid again but i think its a natural mummy thing! The midwives must of mentiond cot death to me a million times but like the others have said, its very rare and aslong as your doing to basics i.e with bedding etc he will be fine!

I thought ella was better but shes back to her grumpy sad sicky self! Poor little thing i think if shes not perked up by the morning il take her to the docs! i thought she might be constipated but this has lasted three days now, the water hasnt changed anything and she looks pale! wish they could tell you how to make it better!

Has any one else got the wonder years book or ap? im thinking of getting it??

If you are worried Ruthie then yep do try and see the Dr.

I ordered the Wonder Weeks book a few days ago, I want to see what all the fuss is about

We've got the wonder weeks book. It's all pretty much common sense really but there is something REALLY comforting about seeing in print that the 'stage' your going through is entirely normal. Especially at silly-o-clock in the morning when they are screaming at you!

We seem to be having a change in H's feeding pattern. We feed on demand, he can go hours with literally nothing, then he'll cluster feed big time. He took 11oz in 90 minutes yesterday evening, he had the usual 5, then a little break followed by three lots of 2oz! We are struggling with constipation too, the gaviscon causes it, but it we take out the gaviscon the reflux comes back. I drink pints of orange juice anyway, we've tried most things so it's looking like another trip to the doctors to get some laxatives for him.

Hello! Have just caught up on all this - hope all you ladies are doing well!

Can you add me please Nat? I was due November just missy didn't fancy coming then!

Aela Louise was born December 3rd at 11.20am weighing 8lb 5oz.

Poor wee mite has got the cold today - very congested and mucusy! Don't think she's got a temperature though and the HV is coming tomorrow morning so will get her to check her over and make sure it's nothing more than a cold. In the meantime, we've propped the carrycot up a bit for her to sleep in so she can still breathe okay. She actually slept and settled amazingly last night despite the the sniffles - must have completely wiped her out! She's current asleep in her bouncer but looks like she's just waking up so had better go!

I will try to keep updated with this a bit more! Haven't been on properly in a week or something!xx

Just catching up... You ladies lucky your los going 7 or more hours here and there id love that!
I still holding out for T dropping our very early morning feed.

Wilson28 _ your lo is gorgeous!! Also about the cot death thing.. It terrifies me! Also because our lo has reflux im so petrified about this. I think its natural to worry about this. My hv got me to fill out a questionare to mark my score and said this is normal to feel this way, especially that they still so small.
I had to eventually give up the bf, I bf for 4.5 weeks but my little man is a very hungry baby and my milk seemed to never fill him even though he was putting on weight he was always hungry. He never had a nappy that was just wee I was changing him.after every feed and sometimes inbetween a he always had a dirty nappy, breast milk was just, running through him.
Due to the breastmilk not as thick is formula I thought this may be agrivating his reflux, I was also worried he might be refluxing due to a lactose intolerance so made the move and haven't looked back. He's alot happier as hes fuller and thriving. and I'm atleast getting +-4/5 hours between feeds at night instead of 2!

We stayed at my inlaws last night, omg never again!!! It was my oh birthday gathering.
Firstly T was asleep when we arrived, when asked can we put him somewhere quiet she offered the front sitting room (where everyone would be sitting) we then said would u mind of we put him upstairs? She said we could put him in the hall???
Eventually my oh said why can't we put him in a bedroom? We eventually got him down in his, carrycot in her room. It was oh birthday so she threw him a little bash at theirs. Which turned out to be a full scale party! Which was awsome for my oh but T was so unsettled and everyone wanted to see him. So he got passed around before he's feed. I didn't get to feed him till 8pm, its normally 7..... He then went to sleep around 9.30, woke at 12.30 & ofcourse my mil and sil came into the room to play with him.. While I was trying to do his normal quiet no lights or sounds bedtime feed! T then.puked every where and my mil insisted on changing him, after god knows how many drinks... Eventually I had to say "give him.here, I know you want to help but can I please be left to do this on my own". Her nose was a bit out of joint after this...
T was then up for a feed every 2 hours after this! Oh was useless and overheated every bottle! So T ended up screaming for his bottle! I couldn't leave T in the room crying with oh as I was petrified he's pick t up and drop him so sent him to heat bottles.
I was planning.on driving home but, she offered we stay..(we slept in their room, they slept downstairs on the couch ).. I wish we had just drove home.
She admitted this morning it hadn't even dawned on her where we'd put the baby!!

Sorry for the moan... Needed to get that off my chest!!
Xx

My family gathering was amazing today, I'm so lucky to have such a chilled out family, even with 14 people plus Cathy in my lounge it was never too much and my uncles did the washing up! I'd have one every week if I could!

Nice to see you again missyeovil :) glad to hear you're doing well but hope LO gets better soon :(

Ugh Robyn that sounds awful your in laws need to be a bit more considerate now you have a baby :/ at least you know now though :( xx
