**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

James is so unsettled today!!

He's screaming for food within 2 hours (he normally goes at least 3 hours in the daytime)

He is also fighting sleep so he's only had a few 15 minute cat naps.

He is so grumpy

I wonder if it because he is now getting so much sleep at night?? He went from 11.30pm - 06:45 between feeds and he slept for 6 of those hours.. I wonder if he is more hungry in the daytime as he is going so long between feeds at night?

We are just about to sit down to another big dinner!! Yummy!! Then some monopoly before its pack bags bed then up for our trip to Scotland tomorrow to see the rest of our family and for Madison to meet all her aunties uncles and great grand parents!!

Merry xmas everyone hope you all had a great day yesterday!! Ella got soo many presents to say she wasnt supposed to be having anything lol!! Lucky girl. I had a perfect day with my new little family, cant wait until next year now lol!

Hi ladies,

I gave up expressing Celene (and Sally) and moved to FF as I was too stressed, tired and miserable whilst I was expressing. I wasn't getting enough rest, I wasn't eating well and half the time I'd end up in tears as my milk supply was dwindling so for me deciding to FF was the best option.

James fed at 11.30pm last night, went down about 12.30am and woke up at 06:15 for a feed. That's a week now he's had a longer sleep at night!!

Fair enough hun, my husband has said he will support my decision if I want to go to formula feeding as he sees how tired I am sinceour boy is only going a max of 4 hour sleep and for part of that I am busy expressing, sterilising, you know the drill.... my supply is still good though so I will keep doing it for a bit longer. I just really want him to sleep 5 or 6 hours it would help so much wit being tired. I have tried upping his last feed but it still doesn't help to keep him sleeping for longer. And if I do get a solid 4 hours from him it's from about 8pm when I am not ready for bed :(

Kaelan is 7weeks4days and I can see a tooth on the top right at back!

I'm actually doing okay expressing, I do it every 3 hours or so and can get away with a longer stretch of 5 or 6 hours, my supply is more than what Cathy is taking so I'm pleased and she's keeping me up anyway so expressing isn't that much of a chore. I just get a wee bit stressed when its taken two hours to feed her in the middle of the night and I still have to express :( in fact I'd be starting to freeze if I didn't dump a load of milk today!

Omg Celene a tooth already! Bet you're glad you express now lmao xx

Well done for expressing ladies, it's harder than actually breastfeeding and I had to admit defeat!

Celene - a tooth?? Already? Wow hun! Has he shown any signs of teething?

Not really, I wonder if it's just sitting under the surface. And not moving. But he has started to blow bubbles and suck on his hand a little bit but nothing major. I don't see a plunket nurse until 8th Jan so guess I will find out for sure then.

Ladies that have their little ones sleeping 6 hours at night. What time are they going down around? And how long are they awake for during the day after feeds? And how many feeds a day are they having? And ae you demand feeding or waking for routine feeds during the day? Questions questions questions! :) xxx

I actually find it easier lol but I started being afraid of breastfeeding as it was so painful so dreaded every feed but now I love it! It's quite weird explaining to people who ask though I'm like... Well i suck it out of my boobies with a machine and give it to her in a bottle lol. Xx

I am the same, the breastfeeding was getting me so stressed an emotional because he was so hungry eating way more than the average baby and my boobs were a mess! I would get upset at the thought of the next feed I hated it. I tried t BF for 4 weeks, went to lactation specialists and everything. He had a great latch but he would start doing a cork screw motion on my boobs when the milk supply got low. I am much happier now and not emotional at all even though I am more tired I feel 100% better. I do miss the closeness that came with BF. xxx

We never even got the latch sorted, she's such a polite little girl she wouldn't open her mouth and I was bleeding every day. I also take pride in how much I get out haha. I agree though there's nothing like that closeness, I loved falling asleep with her and co-sleeping but now I'm so tired I don't want to risk it. But that's a small sacrifice to make when i think I'm still giving her the good stuff and doing the best I can for her xx

James has his 'last feed' between 10pm-11.30pm. It can take up to an hour to wind him and settle him before he falls asleep.

If he sleeps 6 hours or more at night he is feeding roughly every 3 hours during the day and having 5oz's per day. He'll go up to 4 hours between feeds in the day but sometimes as little as 2 hours. He is normally awake for half an hour / an hour after a feed.

If we stay indoors he tends to have a few cat naps, if we go out and he is in the pram he'll sleep however long we are out! He loves the pram

I am demand feeding and have just moved from combination feeding (expressed breast milk) to FF.
