**** November 2012 Mummies **** (everyone welcome)

It's such a relief to get those first jabs out of the way!!

Anyone else got a hiccupy baby? James seems to get them after almost every feed? Normally when he doesn't wind that well?

Oddly he was very hicuppy when I was in latter stages of pregnancy?

la M has her jabs in 2 weeks thankfully oh is off so he can come with me :) Well done to J for being brave :D

My little man is on the 9th - I think I will increase the feeds - he has been on 5oz bottles for about 4 weeks now. I think he'll polish the bottle off if I put more in it. Will see how 6oz go tomorrow.
If he's polishing off his bottles, you should go up anyway. As soon as they start finishing them all, the amount offered should increase, so that you know they are taking as much as they want/need. You do get a few ounces of waste a day this way, but it's safer.

If he's following his centile though, you're doing great. He's just weeny and my LO is big!

Same! J had loads of hiccups in the womb in 3rd Tri, also has hiccups several times a day as well. He did have them much more often in the first few weeks and got very distressed with them, but the osteopathy helped with that. Now he gets them 2-3 times a day, always after a feed (apparently the full tummy irritates the diaphragm), but they don't really bother him anymore. Sometimes he's happy to lie in his cot with them, sometimes he wants to be upright.

James is happy enough with them too, I won't lay him down until they are gone though (pain in the bum when he gets them after last feed!)

Yup, I'll prepare the bottles for 6oz for tomorrow, he usually takes the full 5, but on the odd occasion he does leave an ounce. Cheers for the advice though. It is time for him to beef up!

My chap is a tiny little man - he was born 6lb 4oz and that was at 16 days overdue!! The HV and Doctor aren't concerned, but then I haven't seen either in over two weeks! I need to find out where I can take the little man to be weighed.

And yup, my man has hiccups too... it interrupts him from crying so it's good haha!

O has hiccups alot too. When she was newborn i could tell they annoyed her but now she seems fine with them.

I wouldnt compare how much babies weigh as they are all born different sizes and grow to be different sizes/shapes. As long as they are following their centile line. O is on the 50th line and was 8lb 1oz born,
My mum said my brother was putting 1lb a week on when he was a baby and they said he was gaining too much but he's so slim now and quite tall so i dont think it means much, unless obvs they are getting too big.

Im so so pleased today as ive decided to change O back to normal aptimal from the comfort, she is constantly sick and after trips to clinic to see hv who have said no to reflux and that its 'not her milk' and 'shes jist a sicky baby' ive decided upon myself to change the milk and we have had NO sickness all day (touch wood) she still has the same bib on what i put on at 9am whIch never has happened before. She's done some good burps and a big poop. Im just hoping she doesnt get constipated/colicky again and that she's grown of it a bit! Yippppeeee!

My surgery isn't the easiest to get appointments (it's so busy) but they have an antenatal / postnatal clinic every Tuesday so for things liek injections it's pretty simple to get booked in.

We've got 2nd lot on 12th Feb

Our 2nd jabs are in the 5th. Just in time for the next leap. Arghhh why do mine seem to clash??

I'm wondering if M is going through her leap early? She just screams at me when she is feeding :( either that or my flow isn't fast enough for her now?

La...just one of these things I suppose? But disappointing though.
I'm not used to nhs services, being military it's all provided by them so much easier!

Just a thought those of you who got the whooping cough vaccine do you know how long it stays effective for LO?

I had my jabs and I thought it keeps bub immune for a few months? Not sure why I think that though. L_a will know more.

Not sure babies have a whooping cough jab? Do they?

I am so bad I don't even know what James' jabs were for??

[I know one of them was pneumonia]

Hi all.

I think arthur is going through a leap. Hes so unsettled today, very whingy at times, wanted breast alot, and is crying alot :( even in the bath which he loves.
Ive got headache :(

Hes 8wks on fri and still havent heard from the dr's about his jabs, rung today and she said nurse will get in touch for them??

Xx

Poor ella has been sad today! i hate knowing her little leggys are sore :( iv given her some calpol and lots of snuggles so i hope she wakes up feeling a little better x

How do you know what centile there in? x

Mrswoody- maternal antibodies only last a few weeks, or months at the most. If breastfeeding they will last a little longer.

Nat - James has had whooping cough vaccine. The first vaccines are one for pneumococcal pneumonia and the five-in-one for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, whooping cough and hib (a bacterial infection). He will have 2 further doses of the five-in-one at 3 and 4 months and a booster of the four-in-one (hib is no longer important) at 3 and a half years. If you ever want to check, it's in your red book.

Wilson, you've had your 6 week check haven't you?

J doesn't seems to have reacted to his vaccines, he's been a little grouchy today, but he was before we went to the docs. He had a long nap afterwards and he's gone to bed as usual just fine.

Little angel i posted in another thread but should i be worried if O is being sick and its a bit like curdled milk - quite thick? She's done it like this a couple of times tonight and i have just changed her back to normal aptimal from the comfort?

Thanks L_a, glad to know James is covered!

Ruth, you should have a graph in your red book that plots what centile bub is in (it's a weight graph towards back of book)

Kerrie, James has vommed a whole feed that looked like what you describe. He did however seem fine after and took another 4oz (which he kept down) this was weeks ago now.

I'll go check out your actual thread
