Thanks Pos, i knew it was going to be far from easy even with all the training I should of done but being so far behind in training means im having to miss out the run between 15 and 20miles and just go for 20 in two weeks!
Ive got a half marathon race on Sunday, ill be glad of abit of change of scenery and not having to find safe places to run! Hoping for a pb but we will see as my knee still isnt 100% and I dont want to do anything to stop me getting to the finish line in Oct.
Have you been out this weekend? x x

M2A good luck for your half marathon on Sunday, I'm sure you'll do great, but hope the knee goes ok.

I've not been out as have come down with a wretched cold, lacking energy, hoping it passes soon.

Thanks Sassy, im really looking forward to it :) Hope your feeling better :hugs:

I got a message today from RunLiverpool saying all the race packs for the marathon are now ready and we should receive them soon, it will all sink in then!

Hows everyone else getting on? X x

I did a 3 miler today with an average pace of 10:17 mins/mile :D proper happy with that. Means I'm on target for my quarter marathon in 1hr 10mins.

Well done Mel, you doing fab :)

Ive done abit of speed work tonight, shouldnt of done with my knee but trying to keep my distance low, a kind of taper for sunday x x

Everyone is doing so well!

Well I ran last night and done well (for me!) 3 miles in 45 minutes and barely stopped. Doing the same route tomorrow and OH is coming along! He hasnt ran wiv me in ages so I'm going to try and surprise him by hopefully running the whole route non stop.

When I was running last night I saw the cutest puppy in the park and when I looked up his owners were professor green and Millie from Made in Chelsea! Bit of celeb spotting while running adds to the fun :)

My friend ran there the other day and on the same run saw Adele walking her dog and then about 10 mins later saw myleene klass! Not relevant but helps to pass the time! :) xx

Everyone is doing so so well it's great-Keep it all up ladies!

Well done Pos, thats great going. Hope you have a nice run with hubby today, which mine would take a bigger interest in running!

Hows your taining coming along Rednursie? Not long now! X x

Hi M2A
I did 10.5 miles this morning. Took me 2 hours. My time is so rubbish I know! Really want to get around in under 5 hours but not sure thats actually possible with just under 8 weeks to go. At least Im still feeling okay though touch wood and havent got an injury, thats something i Was very worried about. Running is also helping me not obsess too much with ttc. Has your race pack arrived yet? Exiting times for you! xxx

10.5 miles is great rednurse!!

Well ladies I need your advice?! Iv just been for my normal 3 mile run and as soon as I started my lower legs hurt on the sides from the ankle up (outwards facing iykwim?) I get it on and offbut really uncomfortable today :( it feels like when u stretch ur leg and get cramp but nowhere near as painful. Now I'm home the bottom of my right leg still hurts a bit. Any ideas? Could it be my trainers? Running style?? Anything else?? Xx

Pos it might be shin splints? Runners world do a pretty good description of it. Ice it and raise it and maybe give it a few days before heading out again.

Thanks AM il look it up. I really really don't want to stop :( OH was meant to come tonight and I was looking forward to impressing him but he got home from work late so thankfully didn't come today.

10.5 miles is great Rednursie, how did you find it? Whens your next long run?
Did you get some gels? If not I really would advise you get some for your longer runs, dont think I could of done 15.26miles without them.

Pos, it could be a number of things. Do you stretch after running? How many times do you run a week? x x

I stretch before running but have to admit I don't when I get home. I ran 3 times this week after a two week break x

Pos I would say it could be but also could just be aching as your getting back into it? I had pains after my first few long runs which don't seem so bad now as I am much better at stretching. Plus I sometimes ice after a run
Yeah M2a I did get some gels, I got the SIS ones. They don't taste bad at all! They are on offer in runners need at the moment three for £3
I will hopefully do a 14mile run Saturday or Sunday :)

Havent tried the SIS ones but i know quite a few people who have, im using the high5 ones as this is what they are offering around the marathon.

Pos - (sorry its long but it may help :) )Stretching after running improves flexibility and recovery. During running muscles become contracted as you tense your body and as they have to adapt to running surfaces. Stretching after running will re lengthen them and improve flexibility and also promote a faster recovery. If you've ever felt stiff a few hours after running or for a number of days afterwards, this is the effect of lactic acid on your muscles.
During exercise your body works hard to produce energy for your muscles. This is especially so for runners we need a constant flow of energy to keep our muscles moving. If you body is unable to get sufficient oxygen it starts to produce lactic acid which attacks muscles and causes us to become more susceptible to exhaustion, causing us to slow down.Stretching immediately after exercise is the best way to prevent injury and prolong our level of activity. While warming up is required to produce any benefits of pre-exercise stretching, more benefits occur with post-exercise stretching along with reduced chances for injury.
As you rest and your body is able to restore normal levels of oxygen, lactic acid reduces and the muscles return to normality. Lactic acid is bad for your body and gentle stretches after running can help to stretch out tried tendons and muscles and speed up the process of lactic acid leaving the body. As your muscles are also more susceptible to small tears after a build up of lactic acid, stretching after running will also help you relax your muscles by gently lengthening them after they become shortened during exercise x x

M2a you're a star!! That all makes sense and I absolutely will stretch after every run now. I will be going to get new trainers this weekend so all that should help.

Thank you all for your help and advice xx

You're all doing so well! Rednursie well done on your 10.5 miler, that's fab and pos you're doing so well!! I was going to suggest you check your trainers as maybe if it's hurting on the outside of your leg you aren't getting enough support on your inner arches, that could be making you turn/lean in on each stride which could cause strain in the outside iyswim? If they're old trainers you may not be getting the support you need.

I'm having a wee break while visiting family, my cold is much better so will get back running next week.
