*March mummies Tri 3!*

I am feeling I should make more of an effort to be environmentally friendly and now looking into cloth and natural nappies!

Thank you Ljd I am pretty weepy and emotional, more so than I have been the entire pregnancy. I was hoping after Christmas and New Year it would be easier but struggling a little with feeling down. I have fantastic support from DH and also seeing a midwife who specialises in bereavement counselling. My Mum was only 52 and she would have made a fantastic grandmother. She was to my sisters kids so I do feel sad that our baby is missing out on that. We still have good female family support from DH mother, my grandmother, sister, aunt and Dads wife.

Im sorry about your DH Mum dont know how you coped with just having a wee baby when she passed away, but I guess we have no choice but to cope! If anything the baby gives you hope and eases the pain a little.

Let us know when you get a date for C Section!

Merry yes only these past few days my lower back is getting to be painful and my coccyx/tailbone gets sore from sitting in work too long, even with a new chair. Only 3 more weeks of work!

I'm not even sure what Braxton Hicks is, i thought I was getting them a while ago at night but dont seem to be any more.

34 weeks today, I am finding the third trimester the most difficult so far in terms of side effects. Feeling like a bloated hippo, very fatigued, back/coccyx pain and a lot more emotional/hormonal. First trimester was a breeze!
Dont like moaning because overall I have been extremely lucky to have a healthy pregnancy.

Does anyone have any idea roughly how many maternity pads to pack in their hospital bag? I made a start on my bag last night and wasnt sure how many to put in.

I've still not had any Braxton hicks...kind of want them but I know some women find them a real pain so maybe not! Definitely with you on the third tri side effects, I'm suddenly finding it much more uncomfortable (literally once I got to 33 weeks!) 34 tomorrow...

Re maternity pads, I've just put a full pack in (the boots ones). I'm packing a bag even though we're planning a homebirth, but I feel like I'm just transferring everything from the baby's wardrobe to a bag, which seems a bit pointless!

If you are looking into reusables, the nappy lady website (https://www.thenappylady.co.uk/) has loads of good information!

Ljd401, when will you know the date? Its so exciting. :)

Loveandpeace, I actually bought tena super pants cause I don't like pads. Has anyone tried these? Look like adult size nappy.

Just got back from antenatal class this evening. Very useful information.

I haven't started packing hospital bag, but got a few bits for it.

Not sure what snacks are good to bring?

Thanks Merry, I will just put in a whole pack then. I bought the boots ones too but when I opened them I realised they didnt have wings. I would prefer ones with wings but they will have to do as I have 2 packs to use. I also bought a pack of 5 disposable pants.
Charlotte do the tena pants look bulky?

I will check out that website for nappies.
Yes I have only really got uncomfortable in the past week or two as well so may just suck it up for the next 6 weeks or so.

I know most folk say the baby will come when they are ready but in the next couple of weeks once I finish work, I will be starting to try DTD, raspberry leaf tea, curries, bouncing on the ball and the sex bomb bath bombs from lush.

I dont know about snacks Charlotte but I think they suggest sugary ones to keep your energy levels up for labour. I will be wanting fresh fruit for something cold like melon etc, thankfully there is an Asda across the road from the hospital if I need DH to go get me some. Thinking of snacks and drinks for DH too.

Loveandpeace, tena pants look like big nappies. I haven't tried them but I think they are invisible under clothing. A big cardigan will hide it.

I just don't like pads.

Lady in antenatal classes suggested that honey is good as a snack. I actually crave a bit rich tea biscuits. Yum. Ohs will need snacks too. We only have KFC and subway near hospital. Nearest supermarket is 15 away. So we will need to bring food with us.

We had little bags of nuts and a few protein bars for hubby when we went in, few sausage rolls too. He ended eating my hospital food though as it was grosse and I ended up eating the snacks.

I took a full pack of maternity pads but hated how big and bulky they were, I didn’t bleed too heavily after the first day so I just switched to the night time bodyform pads as they were much comfier.
Andrex toilet wipes we packed as it can get a bit messy “down there” and it was nice to have more of a clean when going to the toilet etc. Witch hazel too as it’s very soothing after childbirth and helps you heal. Water cooling spray also came in handy as you do get hot and bothered. Can’t remember much else but all of the above were very handy for me last time.

I booked 2 tickets for the baby and toddler show yesterday. It’s in Manchester mid March, We went to the one in Birmingham last time and loved it, got some bargains too! I’ll be pretty big and very close to due so might be a long day but enjoyable all the same as it’s very exciting:)

If any of you are able to go we got the tickets free from Emma’s Diary so might be worth a look?

Oh thats good to know Haylian thanks, I forgot about witch hazel so must get some. I have a cool spray my aunt got me for christmas called Cool It Mamma that can be used in labour. I was just going to use baby wipes for down there after after.

Dont think we have a baby and toddler event here in N Ireland so much check it out.
However we are attending a motorcycle show 3 weeks before my due date and a self build home show a week before I am due lol.

Oh my L&P you’ll be busy!
I’ve only seen the Baby shows in London, Birmingham and Manchester. But I’ve never really looked anywhere else. Shame if you don’t have one though, I really enjoy them :)

I just checked and they dont have one in N Ireland :-(.

Hey girls how are you doing?

Went shopping yesterday and I think I walked too much. After Nandos I could not move at all, so stiff in my legs and back. So resting day today for me.

I was looking for muslin cloths. They are so rough to touch. I like softer ones, but they all are floral.

I was thinking to get one large one for breastfeeding 120 x 120 cm (47" x 47") and at least 5 or more smaller ones 70 x 70 cm. Any tips?

Smaller ones I guess are easier to wash and dry and they will be used after each meal. So they come very handy.

I was similar on Friday Charlotte, walked round pretty much all day and suffered for it big time.

I used soooo many muslins last time so I’d stock up if I were you. I bought a couple of packs and ended up buying loads more, You use them for everything haha. I have some soft touch ones from mothecare but they’re from last time, I haven’t come across them this time. I also bought some organic cotton ones from notonthehighstreet which are really soft, but I did pay more for them. They have some funky patterns though and not all girly so might be worth a look for you.

My 4 year old still sleeps with one, We used to put one under her head as she was quite sicky and I think she just used it as a comfort from that point onwards.

Charlotte - I've been having some pains in my lower back and pelvis for a few days now, I'm taking it as a sign to slow down a bit. I've had a few sharp, burning pains right in the middle of my pubic bone which have panicked me a bit - don't want it to develop into spd or anything!

Re muslins - Aldi! I've picked up a couple of packs of theirs and they're soft and large enough to be useful for various things. I'm planning to stock up with more next time they have baby stuff in, which I'm hoping will be soon!

Also, I met up with some school friends yesterday, don't see each other enough as we don't live very close. I met my friend's little girl for the first time, she's almost 5 months old and so gorgeous! I had lots of cuddles and it was so lovely, I think it sort of reminded me that there will be an actual baby in our little family in just a few weeks! It was really good to see my friend and her husband as parents too, they were so great as a little unit and it made me excited to have that to look forward to. Interestingly whenever I was holding Rosalie my baby was wriggling around like crazy, it was very strange!

Thank you girls. Do you think it's also worth buying one big muslin blanket?

I will buy loads smaller ones. Hoping to find softer ones.

Yap I think once you feel uncomfortable it's a sign to slow down. I will not go on long shopping trips anymore. Will stay local and will order stuff online.

It's so nice to see friends becoming parents. They look like different people. More mature and responsible :)

Have you girls thought about names yet?

I’ve bought a couple of bigger ones as they’re really good to swaddle. Violet didn’t settle without being swaddled so if this one is the same they’ll defo come in handy. I’ve only got 3 though.

My 2 closest friends went in complete opposite directions when they had kids, 1 of them is stressed beyond belief constantly and the other is just so happy to be a mummy that nothing bothers her :)

I think we’ve settled on our name, we struggled a lot to come up with a name for our first, I found it such a huge decision to name a human haha!

Have you thought of any?

We've narrowed it down to a shortlist, really happy with our choices for a girl but still not sold on our boy options. It's tricky, we want something that isn't too common but it's harder with boys to find something that's different without just being weird!

I’ve just picked up some Muslims today in babies r us sale, same as Hayli we used so many with my son, still have all those but got a pack of nice large ones for covering up whilst feeding if out and about, got them at half price. We were really tight for money when had my son so this time treating myself to a few more nice to have times.

We are set on Jonah for a boy but struggling with girls, I really like Aubrey but not sure what hubby think - he keeps saying we have ages to decide but only 8 weeks now.

I went to a kids theme park yesterday and was really feeling my back at the end, been decorating aswell so just chilling out watching the iPad now. My son is with his grandparents for a few days so will have some time to chill.

Is anyone got a next to me? I keep looking at them but can’t decide if worth the money as already got a Moses basket

Latest bump pic, I think I feel a lot bigger than I am, bump much lower this time and pulling on my back a lot

Lovely bump Summertime! :)

We have 2 names, first and a middle name but still look for more options. Its not easy to pick one.

I like these muslin blankets. Not sure which one to get. A set or just one and then a few packs or smaller ones for everyday use.

Hey ladies,

I also need to get more muslin cloths as Ive only bought two so far. I will try to get to the babies r us sale.
ST cute bump! We chose a Cozi Sleeper from Smyths toys which is almost half the price than a next to me,does the exact same and in fact quite a few reviews say its better because its slightly bigger. Check it out? We have my sisters old moses basket for the living room for day sleeping.
Names we have chose Lily for a girl but unsure yet for a boy but the choice is veering towards Sonny. I love the name Jonah! My friends little boy is called that.
Feeling the lower back pain here too if Im on my feet more than usual or doing too much. Im now in full nesting mode and finding lots to clean, sort,do and organise in the house! Had to get a bigger hospital bag because all of mine and baby stuff would fit in the one I had so I should have it fully packed this week once I finalise a few more bits.
35 weeks tomorrow!!! Where has the time gone! Im starting to get a bit anxious about the birth a little bit even though until now it didnt bother me so much.
Going to yoga hypnobirthing classes which help massively.

I must be the only one who doesn't have Muslins lol. I didn't buy any with DD either. It's odd cos I see that they'll be useful but they seem really expensive for what they are.

L&P - wow 35 weeks! how long have you got left at work? I’ve got 3 weeks to go and can’t wait, finishing as 34 weeks mainly because it’s too stressful and want to concentrate on getting organised for baby and spending time with my son. I will look up that crib, my son was too big for Moses basket quite young as was 10lb born so looking at other options before the big cot as they won’t fit in our room.

Charlotte I would definitely recommend the small cheap ones for around the house, got most of ours from Asda last time are good value. I love the jungle ones in that pic, we’ve got a jungle nursery and love all the bright coloured animals.

I find with names I have to call the baby the name in a few weeks to see if I still like it, we were keen on Robyn for a girl but gone off it a bit.

Had anyone been to antenatal nhs classes yet? I’m going on the day workshop here in 2 weekends time, feel like I’ve forgotten everything since my son in terms of the newborn phase.
